“And that one is called Lynx. It was always my favorite as a child,” Rozenmarine giggled as she pointed the constellation out in the night sky.

“It’s not your favorite anymore?” Lebkuchen asked curiously, holding Rozen close as they sat on the ledge of the cliff in front of Kieferberg’s newer windmill.

“Hmm… no, not really. I think I’d have to go with Pegasus now,” Rozen replied, pointing out a constellation vaguely shaped like an upside down horse.

“Why that one?” Leb asked, leaning her head on Rozenmarine’s shoulder as she gazed into the sky where her lover was pointing.

“Pegasi are fascinating to me. A horse, an animal people think of as a runner, having wings to fly with. It doesn’t seem intuitive at first, but the more you think about it, the more it seems like a perfect progression, don’t you think?”

“A horse that has wings to fly with,” Lebkuchen repeated thoughtfully.

“In most beliefs, though I’ve heard some say that pegasi would fly by kicking the air instead, the wings only being used for gliding. In that sense, they’d still be runners, wouldn’t they?” Rozen added, her voice full of awe and wonder despite her being the one explaining.

Lebkuchen lifted her face to smile at Rozenmarine, whose eyes were still fixed on the sky. She listened attentively as the girl rambled about constellations and mythology obliviously. She truly was in love with this peculiar girl.

“Rather cute, aren’t you?” Lebkuchen hummed, leaning in and kissing Rozenmarine softly on the cheek.

Rozenmarine blushed as gasped, turning her face to meet Lebkuchen’s gaze. Her surprise melted into a warm, soft smile.

“You’re quite lovely yourself, Lebkuchen,” she replied.

And for a moment, with their gazes turned away from the starry sky, the shared a soft, warm kiss.
