only just realized that the place in IDW #11 where Starline starts restoring Eggman's memories (literally rebuilding him) is exactly where Gamma awakens for the first time, in the exact same machine

it's a pretty thematically apt location imo- SA1 being this modern version of Eggman's proper debut. That and Starline is literally walking in Eggman's footsteps, same path and framing and all.

This area being both where Gamma and IDW-Eggman's stories begin is a neat lil parallel. And the locale is befitting story-wise, given that the thing that makes Eggman finally remember who he is is Metal Sonic, who was also kept in the Final Egg

that and it probably explains why theres a suspiciously eggman-sized table for Starline to use-- the og e-series are already eggman-sized

I didn't render the actual Flicky in this piece for a few reasons. For one, I wanted to focus more on the emotion Omega is feeling here. To highlight the stark and perhaps horrific juxtaposition between him and his power source. Secondly, I wanted to intentionally downplay/abstract the Flicky's existence as an animal- reflecting its awkward position between living being and machine. I wanted to draw it as something inherently abstract and surreal, maybe even a little scary, something very different from Omega, yet still reflecting what he is experiencing.

That and- y'know- the actual scene in the fic is a bit gruesome. I tho personally love that about it, so go give it a read! B) its peak
