4yrs today..

4yrs ago today was the most painful time of my life. I was going through an extremely painful break up and that alone was making me sick. The drugs they put me on didn't work, the therapist had no advise and I had no family around me to turn to. But I was at the beginning of breaking through in my career as i'd just recorded Ass Back Home with Gym Class (with tears rolling down my face) so I had to keep my head above water. I had just left equinox gym in New York, and on my way home when my media trainer text me sending me her condolence about Amy (Winehouse). My heart jumped out my body but then I got angry because I thought it was some kind of fucked up sick joke. I ran into the house shaking and asked my half boyfriend at the time "is it true?" He looked it up and.. It was. God bless your soul Amy, like all of the people who cared for you, these past 4yrs have been tough and we've all dealt with our losses in our own way. I have always believed in cycles of 4yrs, so May this day be the end of a dark cycle and the step into the light. I want to forget the pain and the sadness and remember the goodness in life.. Amy's smile can light up an entire side of the planet! Don't take anyone for granted, and cherish life, it is what you make it! ❤️

For anyone who’s had a break up

We’ve all been there.. the fireworks that night at a random party we met, the jacuzzi that melted us into one, like 2 candles burning in a furnace. that free young and wild feeling that made us jump on boats, planes and buses together to far away lands. those late substance fueled nights talking about the stories we’d tell our grandchildren. those early mornings we shut the blinds and shut the world out too, those time we got kicked out of hotels because we didn't believe in time. those lies we had to tell our families to avoid disapproval.. that moment in time where lies became just another one of our habits, and the secrets we used to share with each other then became secrets we kept from one another. then all those times we were convinced the other was playing unfaithful cards, we played back out of fear with revengeful acts. then we hurt each other, then we hated each other, then we lost each other, then we missed each other.. but at least i guess we’ll always love each other.

...Ok we may not have ALL been there, but that’s my story i tell while eating coconut ice cream and carrot cake on this couch.

Power To The People!

The power of my incredible fans is WORKING! From the movement you guys started #FreeSparks we have had a breakthrough! I've been dealing with the production company's lawyer direct as he is far more reasonable. You can see in his articulate and (bite your tongue neon) ..reply to my statement that they were overwhelmed by the response of my fans! :) I am very pleased to announce that thanks to you guys, their lawyer has now proposed they just go ahead and put the video out with no obligations to me!! It looks like they would then fully own the video but at this point, I would rather the world see my hard work than not at all. You are truly amazing. KEEP GOING!!! We are so close, let's get this video out!!! They say they won't have it ready for another week. Can we wait that long?! I've asked when the soonest is they could get the final version of the video to me and I'm just waiting for their reply. This non-justice act may let you down too, but we should all get together to do something. As we did with Yard Sale, we could so now with Sparks. Let’s spread the hashtag #FreeSparks all over medias like Twitter, Facebook, Google+1 and all the ones you know and usually use! The most the betta.

You don’t need to be a fan to be in favor. Why not helping to a good cause. Tell your friends, they will understand, and spread this even more. Ask for any fandoms to spread this too? Even betta!

Why do we keep doing nothing? Let’s do this! Upload pictures with the message #FreeSparks, glue papers over your city, take picture and let us know what whenever you are, you are into this cause. Let’s do this together! We all can!

Where Is Sparks Video?

I’ve been fucked over so many times in the music business over the past 12 years, I could have filled a bestseller in Barnes And Noble... and so far, I’ve just kept my mouth shut... I’ve always been cautious of burning bridges or getting in more trouble than I already do (ayeee) but perhaps pretending everything was ok wasn't the right thing to do either. (Coz then people just think I fell off the face of the earth) So now I am going to speak out and tell the truth so that my fans know that it’s not ME that’s slacking and so that other artists will be able to avoid these types of situations. Also, let this serve as an example to to anyone in the future trying to screw me over, hoping I’ll keep my mouth shut... Sparks video started with the song leaking. Somehow someone got their hands on a copy of sparks (i think i know who you are) and my fans started sharing it and saying how much they loved it. I would have rather waited till I had the backing for a real radio push but I was like well fuck it we may as well make it available, make cover art (thanks Matt @ #FanLabel) and make a visual as it was already out there.. I actually even made my own dope version of the visual that next day using footage from my iPhone in slo mo at this crazy bonfire with sparks everywhere. I was gonna just throw that out there the next day as the official music video just so I could give my fans content (which I always favor) but we were torn on if we should release a janky (but authentic) Neon special, or bother to take a legit approach to this already janky 'release' and shoot a “high end” new video, EVEN without any time to plan full marketing and radio campaign. To test the waters, one of my business partners matched me with a new production company in Hollywood. They showed me some of their previous work and it was ok, and then they created a treatment and mood video that looked pretty good. They had an investor backing them and he was willing to front the money for the budget so that I didn't even have to pay for it up front and would just pay back over time. This seemed like a great situation... despite the warning i had that these guys were kinda shady. So anyway, unfortunately, I ended up in the hospital the week we were supposed to shoot. They told me no worries and that they would just shoot the one day of scenes that they didn't need me for. But then then at a later date said they have to add $6k to the budget for that lost day that i was in hospital or else we couldn't come to an agreement. My team tried to get them to show us receipts for these additional expenses and they refused and resisted transparency with these expenses. That was my first time thinking that they were trying to take advantage of me. When I got on set day 1 of filming they told me their producer is going to play my lover and the guy who was a real actor (and who was actually attractive) they were going to have play my brother. Even after I pulled them aside and said I think we should change the storyline they convinced me this was just a better way. They had me make out with their producer over and over again on camera ... Totally unnecessary shots that didn't even make it into the video. But, they made me feel like a friend and that I could trust them so I continued to do so.. They had some kind of personal beef with one of my business partners and used that against me to try and put me in a more vulnerable situation by actually adding to the contract that 'he may not be on any future sets or have any involvement'. I clearly do not have any control over another human being, so to sign THAT would be obscene. The ironic part is, they sent me the first version of the contract and I signed it like a fool. But after a few days of them not reciprocating, i became suspicious and not to my surprise, they came back with a different contract asking more from me. Who does that besides total slime balls?! In new contract I would need to be at their disposal promoting myself as their Artist and owe them x, y and z.. I even tried to meet in the middle on this and agreed to do a non paid show for them and help promote their company.. But this was still not enough. All we kept asking for was RECEIPTS so we could lock in a price and move forward but clearly this made them agro to the point they finally came back with an offer that had DOUBLED from the original budget and required a large up front payment. bottom line is, I've been quiet recently trying to wrap this shit up behind the scenes but these weeks spent going back and forth on this contract has got nowhere.. in fact, it’s just got worse so i’m backing out of their ever increasing and frankly just quite shitty deal completely. Maybe had they tried to do this to me at an earlier date i would have been more flexible but now we are fighting for a video that Hillary Duff just came out with the same song title and I've seen all over TV already. So, where is the sparks video that i put so much hard work into? .. On their hard drive collecting dust. i don't even have a copy to watch myself as they deleted the vimeo link. Imagine that, an artist who can't even show her friends her new music video. i really hope you guys get to see the video somehow, one day.. maybe if you ask them kindly they’ll show you ;) .. Or start a peaceful protest or let them know what you think on their social media feed (#FreeSparks) or start a petition or something! I'm leaving it to you my fans now to decide what to do!! #FanLabel Neon ✌️

Today the date in America is 3.01!

That happens to be my magical number of the journey I'm on...I put out an EP called "301 To Paradise", sang about the poisoned romances I've had behind the door 301 at hotels late at night, I made a collection of 301 necklaces for my fans as membership items that gives them a free pass to my shows for life, a lot of people who have played big roles in my journey live at apt number 301, my first ever agency meeting was in suite 301, I've had sex with 301 people...JOKING!!!!!!

But yeah, that number plays a big role in my life and for my fans. Knowing this, my fans have been hitting me up exited to see what I would do on this day, even my dad asked what I would do today...it's kind of like my birthday. Yes Ke$ha, you and me may be sisters (after all we do share some kind of spiritual birthday).

To my frustration, I can't release the "Sparks" video (that I'm INSANELY EXITED ABOUT) today, we have a few final tweaks to make! And I can't announce an official album release date (the album is completed and fucking beautiful) until money decides to start growing on trees or producers don't want $20k + a track or Jack Nicholson wants to be my sugar daddy (jk, kinda.) BUT, it's all good, luckily I'm a magician when it comes to problem solving! So I decided to hit the studio yesterday and make an EP from scratch for my fans as a thank you for being patient gift! ON THE RUN - My ghetto gypsy swag song LONDON BITCH - This song is a personal parody on my accent, because when I go to restaurants and order a "Wor-Ah" I have to put on my valley girl accent and play with my hair and say "WATERRR" to be understood. So I made this song for every waiter who ever gave me that strange look. The beat was made by one of my fav Canadians JGramm. I love this boy dearly and I've only met him once. WAKE ME WHEN ITS OVER -

This song is about the devastating police shootings that have been happening recently. I saw one video of a family man being pulled out of his car while his child watched and screamed, it made me cry harder than I have for a long time and I had to write about it. The track is produced by a very funny good old friend of mine, Sam Trocki, aka my very own Larry David. He also produced "Freedom"; he has been doing this for a long time and I'm exited to see him fully shine in the way he deserves... (Yes Benny, I'm talking to you.)

BACK AGAINST THE WALL -

This is my protest song that I was inspired to write when in New Orleans at Mardi Gras recently, (The producer KC is also from New Orleans so it's fully Nola sourced!) I was dancing in this crowd of happy people being free (brought me back to my Glastonbury days) and there it was, a negative force of protesters using god's name to discriminate same sex love. This made me MAD so I got in a little fight with them and I posted this picture on Instagram:

LOST AT SEA - I created this with my old friend I like to call 'Guacamole' (true story) and my boy Daniel Lynas who made my "HAPPY NEON" EP with me and Happy Perez. This song is about my spontaneous decision to cross the pond from London to New York. Love makes you crazy, then when you're crazy, your boyfriend breaks up with you. Oh well.

Anyway! The whole concept and product was created in 24 hours. I hit up my fan @AlexxaCala on Twitter and had him turnaround the artwork in a matter of minutes (far more efficient than I ever experienced while signed to my former label). #FanLabel.

I pieced the project together from Miami on Skype and email chains, and pretty much everyone thinks I'm ridiculous for just throwing music out there without a roll out plan, set up time blah blah...But the truth is, I have hundreds of songs that are just being sat on, and everyday I continue to make more. So why not make 6 songs and ACTUALLY JUST PUT THEM OUT? It was a really fun project for me and got me EXITED again, this industry has a way of making you feel jaded so I figure if I am happy and I'm making my fans happy (as much as I am capable of) then I'm doing the right thing. No, this is not my most polished work, it's not been mixed and mastered, and isn't created for radio...But I had a damn good 24 hours making it! Check out "24:00" at link below...
