save file updates

the cc compiling and organization has commenced!! finalizing everything will probably take a couple days, so I'll also be using this time to ask if there's anyone who'd like to volunteer to test the save. testing includes making sure the download process is smooth, as well as double-checking my playtesting to make EXTRA sure everything's all ready to go! :D

if nobody volunteers, I'll just take an extra day to go through everything (and I mean e v e r y t h i n g) myself TvT

well, I have access to tumblr & my notion through my tablet and phone, so I can do some backend organizational stuff outside of the actual game! :D

Ive devised a (hopefully intuitive) method to organizing the download masterpost for the save file, and I wanted to post a little preview for everyone!!

MASTERPOST LAYOUT (unless I come up with something better)

Households (imagine this is a link to sfs)

once in sfs, you’ll see:

- howell -> cc and tray

- volkov -> cc and tray

- oaklow -> cc and tray

for extra context: the first option would entail downloading each household, then going into the CAS folder and removing the default replacements.

right now, my plan is to remove the defaults and replace them with the non-default versions of each.

There’s absolutely nothing going on around here. The most interesting thing for miles is the abandoned shack, trashed by wild party-goers and slowly being reclaimed by nature..

Seriously, why would anyone buy a ticket here? Even the ticket clerk gave you an odd look when you told them your final destination.

.. Why are you here?

Maybe it was an accident, a misclick when selecting your ticket online? Are you running away, severing ties with your old life and starting anew? Or maybe you’re returning home, reuniting with familiar faces.. and perhaps painful memories.

Are you drawn to the solitude, no more than the trees and few residents to keep you company? Or was it the howls that can be heard at night, and the moonlit peak of the mountain that drew you closer?

.. Do you even know why you’re here?

Even the bus station looks old, slowly falling apart after years of nobody arriving or leaving.

You pickup an old postcard, its colors slightly faded and worn by dust and time..

greetings fellow mortals, I’m on vacation right now, but I wanted to update everyone on we’re I’m at with the moonwood save!

We’re in the final stages before the V1 release, which includes figuring out all the packs I used, and making a plan to organize all the cc.

I want this save to be as easy as possible to download, so everything will be in a single masterpost, with links to grab the cc and tray files for each household and build. I also have to remember to remove my defaults and replace them so nobody’s forced to install my overrides TvT

With that, I’m gonna take this opportunity to give a little PSA:

THIS SAVE FILE HAS A LOT OF CUSTOM CONTENT.

The townies are 98% cc, including sliders. The builds have a lot of cc. If you do not want or cannot have custom content in your game, unfortunately, the moonwood save might not be the save file for you.

I struggled with whether or not to include cc for a long time, and eventually decided to let myself use it. I will not be making a second cc-free version of the save, so please don’t ask.

This save file, and most likely all of my future saves, will include cc.

However, there’s plenty other AMAZING cc-free save files you can play (one of my favorites is coolpuppy’s doodoo save) so go play them and support those creators!!

Outside of working on the actual save, I of course have plans for a very unnecessary-but-cool SAVE FILE TRAILER to post on YouTube (more about that later), and a preview post that will be posted later today >:D

Work will continue once I’m back from vacation, so I’ll see y’all soon :D

#2: The Oaklow Household

Rory Oaklow, Kristopher's eldest child, and heir to Moonflower Farms.. or at least she was. Frankly, inheriting the family farm is the last thing on Rory's mind. They'd much rather focus on their own legacy, and believe them, it's gonna flip this gloomy little town on its head. (ne's notes: Rory is doing everything in their power to avoid being the next owner of Moonflower Farms, and the next leader of Moonwood Mill by extension. There must be a deeper reason behind this, right?)

#1: The Volkov Household

Kristopher Volkov has been around longer than most can remember, living and working on Moonflower Farms. He has two adoptive children; Rory and Jacob, and has also taken in his nephew (this may change), Lou, as a member of his household. While Rory has no intention of taking over the farm, Kristopher hopes that Jacob will one day rise to the task, and become the new leader of Moonwood Mill once he is gone. What about Lou, you ask? Well.. uhh..

(ne's notes: Kristopher wholeheartedly believes Jacob is capable of taking over one day, but the pressure of having to fill his father's shoes brings the teen a hefty amount of stress. and lou? well.. he's lou.)

#2: The Howell Household

Sometimes, it seems like Lou's only aspiration in life is to be a menace. If he's not flirting with the local bar owner or lurking dangerously close to Greg's house, he can be found being "forced" (as he claims) by his Uncle Kris to pull his weight around Moonflower Farms.

(ne's notes: menace to society lou howell supremacy. that's it, that's the note.) (but on a serious note (lol)- while lou and the volkolv's are different "households" in a technical sense, in-game they are one since lou lives on the farm too. I didn't wanna make him a roommate or add another residential rental, where lou's "unit" would've been his room, but the whole house would be a "shared space")
