Character Creation: Expection vs Reality

Roman

What I wanted: A self-centered, Sherlock-esqe manipulative sociopath who views the world as his chessboard.

What I made: An emotionally repressed, smartass whose bravado masks severe childhood trauma and mommy issues

Peace

What I wanted: An insanely cheerful and ridiculously optimistic moron who never fails to get up to whacky antics.

What I made: A courageous and resilient young woman with a huge heart and surprising wisdom despite struggling with her own self worth.

Vi

What I wanted: Lizard space Hitler; kills Terrans and gives no fucks.

What I made: A confused, misguided extremist with more far compassion than he’s willing to admit.

Consider the entire cast. If kyubey approached each one and asked them if they wanted to be a magical girl, who would say yes and who would say no? Why?

People who would say yes: 

Peace, Nikki, Rem and Kit honestly would be the people do be like OMG YES MAGICAL GIRL and just accept without hesitation. 

Cozzy, Imaj and Parjaj are more of the, yeah okay, why the fuck not, type of reaction. 

Andreas would probably end up being pressured into accepting by kyubey.

Gain would probably accept after considering all the good she could do for the world.

Nari would probably use her magical girl powers to murder everyone. 

Zaq would accept because he had no idea wtf kyubey was saying.

People who would say no: 

Roman, Elvira, Hudson would probably be like, the fuck? Magic ain’t real, get outta here you little shit. 

Mael would probably eat Kyubey.

Day would probably sell Kyubey on the black market.

Suna, Jaona, Adras, Isis would politely decline because it sounds dubious.

Arty and Grayson would awkwardly try to give some excuse to say no.

Vi wouldn’t accept but he’d definitely try to trick or convince others into accepting for the lolz.

Bianca, Aoife, Dani and Val would probably be like, lmao bitch I am magic.

Corny would decline because the outfit looks tacky.

Tavin and LOK would probably start roasting Kyubey.

If you assigned everyone a flower or plant, what would they be and why?

VeritasThe Purple Iris symbolizes faith, hope, wisdom, courage, and admiration. It is also often a symbol of royalty.

PeaceSunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Much of the meaning of sunflowers stems from its namesake, the sun itself. They provide energy in the form of nourishment and vibrancy—attributes which mirror the sun and the energy provided by its heat and light.

AnemoneThese quirky blooms take their name from the Greek word for wind (anemos) since their lives are so short. The Victorians offered anemones the meaning "forsaken.NikkiDaisies symbolize innocence and purity.

GainFor many, Goldenrods symbolize encouragement and growth. They may be given to show support after a loss or in a difficult time. It is often thought that these flowers can help reduce depression. 

NariThe Rhododendron is a beautiful flower but is actually quite toxic. It is a symbol of danger and invokes caution.

TavinGladiolus symbolizes strength of character, faithfulness and honor. Gladioli also represent infatuation, with a bouquet conveying to a recipient that they pierce the giver's heart with passion.

Vi’rainTansy flowers look friendly, but these toxic flowers represent resistance and neglect. To give one to another is to say "I declare war on you."

AdrasLavender is femininity all grown up. It represents refinement, grace, and elegance.

Aoife Red roses are typically thought of as symbolizing romance or passionate love, but they also represent sacrifice or memorial.

ElviraThe Zinnia flower has several meanings including thoughts of an absent friend, endurance, daily remembrance and goodness and lasting affection; a fitting symbol for Elvira as she strives to become a better person.SunaSage represents wisdom and longevity. 

RomanThe Narcissus flower (aka Daffodils aka Jonquils) represents narcissism. Aside from signaling a person is a little too self-obsessed, this flower is ideal for reminding someone that there is always a chance for things to improve in the future. The Narcissus means rebirth and renewal because it’s one of the earliest bulbs to sprout.The Chinese use it to symbolize future prosperity and wealth.

ParjajThe Valerian flower symbolizes readiness. 

MaelThe Hydrangea can symbolize heartlessness and acting without thinking about the feelings of another, or frigidity and disinterest in a romantic proposal. However it can also represent heartfelt and honest emotions and developing a deeper understanding between two people.

Gain: Ask him to bend down, then apologise for the Terran race

Suna: Stare at him stoicly till he gets the message

Bianca: Punch him in the gut so he doubles over

You're the sorting hat! Place everyone in their appropriate houses: Gryphindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Why that house?

I’ve answered this question in this post, but i’ll elaborate and throw in a couple more people for your benefit anon. 

Gryffindor: Peace, Tavin, Aoife, Veritas, Parjaj, Gain, Isis, Constantino,   This one’s pretty straightforward; everyone in this house values bravery, loyalty and courage. They’ll fight for what they believe is right and a lot of them will absolutely absolutely lay their lives on the line to protect their friends. Some of these people have overlapping qualities that work with other houses. ie. Peace and Gain care a lot about others in a way that makes them very suited for Hufflepuff, but the way that they express that care is also primarily through bravery and courage. Cozzy’s In here also because he’s just a different type of courageous; the stupid kind that’ll probably get you killed. Nobody said it had to be a good thing. Ravenclaw: Roman, Elvira, Hudson, Cornelius, Suna, Jaona  These people value logic, intelligence and knowledge above all else. I think for most people that speaks for itself. Corny’s the one of the bunch that isn’t as obvious as the rest but beneath all the preening he’s a pretty smart cookie, and he’s got something to prove so I feel like Ravenclaw does suit him. Jaona is an outlier, I almost put her in Hufflepuff but I felt like her majors managed to edge her into Ravenflaw. Hufflepuff: Adras, Artyom, Rem, Nikki, Kittora, Altani, Grayson, Zaq, Andreas  So Hufflepuff is technically the house that takes in any of those that don’t fit the others but they do have their own qualities. They’re very caring, loyal and just all around cinnamon rolls. People who’re attentive to the needs of others are in this house. In that sense most of these choices are pretty obvious.

Arty almost ended up in Gryfindor, but I feel like he’s actively trying to fight against his aggressive side, and his friends mean a lot more to him so hufflepuff seems more appropriate. 

Zaq, Grayson and Andreas are in this house mostly because they don’t exhibit any major traits that put them in the other houses.

Slytherin: LOK-9, Vi, Nari, Day, Mael, Bianca, Dani, Val, Kirel  My requirements for Slytherin are that characters that prioritize the self. They’re cunning, potentially manipulative, enterprising and resourceful. No surprise, most of the Beta’s ended up here, plus Val. Kirel also shares these traits, and thought Bianca has traits from other houses her devotion to Day ultimately tips the scale in favor of Slytherin.

Cornelius: “I love being in public when my hair is soaking wet! I feel like a Gucci model.” Hudson: “Sorry guys, but I can barely navigate the hellish vortex between breakfast and dinner, let alone the labyrinth of the field hockey field.”

Altani: “Sorry to disappoint you, sales clerk, but the universe is dictated by forces far greater than field hockey.” Jaona: “I don’t have enough energy to process that question.”

Maeladae: “I gotta go… snacks are ready.” Amadeus: “You’re wearin’ a black tux over a midnight blue sky. Fantasy AU (part 1)

HEY HEY HEY long time no write pointless alternate realities so here we go.

- The Terran Empire is your good old fantasy land full of magic, mystery and adventure. Ruled by a monarchy. it was once just the Kingdom of Terra before a war sparked between neighboring kingdoms causing Terra to annex several formerly autonomous lands into their territory. 

- Our story begins with a young girl by the name of Peaceful Lovell, a girl from a small village on the distant reaches of the empire. She has just embarked upon a monastic journey following the way of the open hand. She’s looking to find fortune and adventure in the kingdoms capital city of Eden.

- On her way to the city she meets another traveler, a half-elf named Cornelius who’s similarly looking for adventure, though he seems to dodge a lot of questions about where he came from. He does let her know that he is an artificer, a creator of magical items so to speak. They decide to form a party, despite Cory’s disdain for Peace’s fashion sense. 

- While trying to find an inn, they stumble upon a market where they encounter a cute catfolk girl named Nikki who tries to sell them some herbal remedies. Peace is immediately suckered into buying something, but when Nikki disappears, Cory realize’s he’s been pick pocketed! 

- The two of them chase after Nikki only to find themselves ambushed by another catgirl in the alleyway. Roll for sneak attack damage!

- A small scuffle takes place, but they eventually all have to hide because guards show up to arrest whoever’s causing a ruckus. Corny and Peace help the two to hide instead of ratting them out.

- Nikki apologizes for stealing their money, and tells her rouge friend Kirel to do the same and give back the gold, but not without pilfering some.

- Nikki’s is an Apothecary (see d&d 3.5e) but her potions haven’t been selling all that well so they’ve resorted to stealing to survive.

- Peace being the dolt that she is cheerfully suggests that they join their party. Corny isn’t so down for it, seeing as the two literally just tried to rob them.

- Kirel isn’t so sure either, but Nikki’s really excited about it, and convinces her friend to give it a try. Kierl agrees but secretly considers that this might be a good way to sneak off with all the reward money later. 

- After some pleading, Corny reluctantly agrees to let them join the group, but is keeping his eye on the two of them. Kirel especially. 

- Our four man team goes over to the cities’ biggest in to see if there are any employers looking to hire a rag-tag team of adventurers.

what's your favorite thing about the roleplay?

IDK anon, there’s so much. I love the characters. There’s so much life and complexity to so many of them that it’s just a joy to see them grow. I love everyone in the RP and how willing they are to plot and do things spontaneously. I love all the twisted side plots and the interwoven relationships and just the character development! I really haven’t been in an RP where I’ve seen character’s develop this much? It’s really because of all the effort put into the writing. It’s really been a joy to be a part of this.
