This is Tanner. It's fantastic to bring some new people, and some youth to the group! We are hoping to get his dad certified for the next and have them both become regulars.

If you look more closely at the menu-corn on the cop was what's for dinner.

Somehow I started a thing at one of our group dinners. Carol was training and running late. She was also bringing a cake for someone. I suggested that when she walked in, we all sing Happy Birthday to her. I bet I have sung that some 15 times in two days. Anytime someone is late or does something silly, we are singing the whole song to them.
Before Carol got there.

After Carol...
Tumblr media
And then another thing was turning around and flipping the camera off for pictures. I'm not sure how that one started.

Carol made this year's shirts for everybody. They sure made our group easy to find at the pool!

Poor Tumblr. I haven't been doing a good job updating it, This trip will be the same. Let me start with a few photos going backwards.
Last night we had dinner at La Mission. I wouldn't recommend it again. It was fine, but there are better places. They did have Spanish coffee though which is a favorite.
Tumblr media
Would I order it if watching them make it wasn't so much fun? Hard to say. It's a mixture of coffee, liquor, ice cream and a sugared rim.
Erica, Kyle and I only got to do three dives together. Four, if you count the one we had to abort shortly into it. Is that Cozumel's fault? Some of us say yes, some say no. Some aren't even willing to listen.

Made it to Cabo. I got to watch It Ends With Us. A lot of drama going on with this movie and Blake Lively. I didn't think it was half bad. Justin Baldoni was pretty hot.
We are staying at the Tesoro Hotel. Check out the view from the balcony.
Tumblr media
I found an Adventure Lab and walked around a bit to experience a bit of Cabo. I didn't have long before it would be getting dark and I had to meet the group.
Tumblr media
I got two pictures with this sign and my eyes are shut in both. And what in the hell is going on with my hands?
Accidentally found a Starbucks. Plenty of Stanley's there-but they were ugly.

Headed to Cabo for a short weekend trip that sounds amazing! Unfortunately, Anita had to cancel at the last minute, so I'm headed there alone. Trying to make the best of it.

I've been sick this whole trip. Mucus in my nose and chest. A lot of it. For some reason, it never seemed to affect my diving. Thank god. My right ear started getting slightly funny just before the last day of diving. I might have babied it too much because it seemed to get worse after wearing the earplug. Then it seemed to get a lot worse. I was pretty worried about it, but on the flight from Chuuk to Guam, it suddenly just cleared up. No problems since.

Day 11
Dive 1-Hoki
Dive 2-Nippo
I have been asking to this boat all week, and Pete kept telling me it was too deep. There was a geocache on it that I wanted to log. (There were three geocaches on the island and I got them all. I also met another guy on the trip who was geocaching.)
Our group went rogue towards the middle of the trip, and starting picking what we wanted to dive rather than being told. We didn't want any more planes. They were cool, but after about 20 minutes, you had seen everything and were done. We begged for the Nippo and finally got it. It even turned into the "cheese" for our photographs after that. 1-2-3-Nippo!
This is a picture of me on the bridge which is what was needed for the geocache.
Tumblr media
The other cool thing to see is a fully intact tank.
Tumblr media
More gas masks and ammo, but then we needed to go up.

Day 10
Dive 1-Shinkoku
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dive 2-Fumizuki
I liked the fish eating the jellyfish. I don't remember what ship it was on, and we only did it once, but the anemone's had caught jellyfish and were holding onto them while the fish ate them. I had never seen it before and felt compelled to save them. I learned if you touch the top part of them, they don't sting you. I got stung by one this trip-on the hand. Ouch!
Tumblr media
Dive 3-Sankisan
Loose ammo and bottles litter the ground of the ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sea cucumbers just climb over the ammo.

Day 8
Dive 2-Shinkoku
The weather was nasty this morning and I chose not to dive. This was the only other dive we did. I didn't take any pictures.
Day 9
Dive 1
Dive 1-Fujikawa
The Fujikawa was carrying airplanes when it went down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dive 2-Suzuki
Tumblr media
Dive 3-Kiyosumi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The joke on this dive is that they had to show me the bicycle because I missed it the first time. Turns out I had a photo of it, but didn't know it was a bike. It's easier to see in this video when you see the back of it and can see the pedal.

Here's a little bit of us swimming inside the ship.

I sure loved all of the puppies and kitties on the island. The kitty's tended to be pretty timid.
The puppies would let you love on them, but were very disinterested in you overall. They seemed to be well fed, but I was also told that the locals eat them. :(
This little one didn't seem to quite know how to play. I was loving on her the last day, and after a bit, she picked up my flip flop and ran. Sure wish I could bring they all home and keep them safe. ❤️❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Caitlyn took the rest of these.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This last one was a female that I was petting. She had a big tumor hanging under the rear back of her. I felt so bad for her. I snuck her a little food from the party the last night. She was so gentle taking it.

The boat crews make dinner for us the last night. Here is everyone from our boat.
Tumblr media
Me, Caitlyn, Jerome, Peter, Tryvin, Johnny, Earnestine, and Tobias (from Switzerland)
We all got certificates too!
Tumblr media
Jerome, who was so quiet all week, wanted to dance the last night. (We think Pete was buying beer for the crew.). You know how I love to dance! He's telling me he loves me here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy is the top dog at the dive shop.
Tumblr media
This is Pete. He runs lust4rust which is who the trip was booked through.
Tumblr media
And finally, James, who runs the YouTube channel Diver's Ready, which is where I originally found the trip.

Once again, I find myself somewhere where the "th" in my name causes locals difficulties. To make it easier, I started writing Heder on my tanks. I also starting writing my Nitrox blend upside down while I was standing up rather than squatting down. As you can see, I'm not very good at it.
Tumblr media
They talked about "local GPS" at dinner one night. I've seen it every day, but haven't thought much about it. There are no buoys above the water here. As you can see in my previous betel nut picture, the pilot sits on the back of the boat and steers with the engine. The divemaster stands up front, and very slightly flicks his hand one way or the other. I'm assuming that left or right. They come to a stop in the middle of the ocean and quickly find the buoy underwater. How they navigate to these buoys is simply magic!

I saw that they chew betel nut here right before we left. One of the divemasters on the boat shared one with me. Johnny kept saying I was going to puke. No-I've had it before. I'm not going to throw up.
Betel nut can be used on its own or as a mixture of various ingredients, known as 'betel quid'. In its most basic form, betel quid consists of betel leaf, betel nut, slaked lime (calcium hydroxide), various spices and is often mixed with tobacco
Tumblr media
Johnny told everyone to watch me and then started to secretly record me because he wanted to see me spit. So I didn't spit. He finally got tired and turned the camera of.
He just came across this video. The lens cap or something on the camera covered my face for the entire time lol.

Besides bats and frogs, the crabs also come out at night. You have to be careful walking around in the grass and watch out for the holes. They can be quite large.
