literally wriolette
A trope that gets to me: 'guard dog' character and their partner who are both fully aware of it and honestly don't care/kind of like it. Someone says "call your guard dog off" and their partner does call them off. That person, their 'guard dog', is someone who is unreservedly, irrefutably loyal to them. Someone undoubtedly dangerous who is willing to kill, to maim, to obey, simply because of their love for one another. There's no manipulation involved— it is loyalty, brutal, dogged loyalty. And it goes both ways.

why are ppl complaining that kinich's 8bit aesthetics "doesn't fit". like sumeru was literally cyberpunk. they had airpods and literal giant robot. irminsul is very bluntly presented as a database.
also have you met other dendros. dendro's most obvious theme is digital\virtual aesthetics. nahida has holograms and jumps on actual keyboard buttons. kaveh has ai robot in a suitcase and also does holograms. alhaitham has streamer headphones and does matrix coded green laser bullshit. we have actual yassified nyancat.
in fact, irminsul\database angle is the closest i can formulate the dendro theme. deconstruction and accumulation of data until reaching inspiration threshold and growing and evolving into something new, transcending previous understanding of the world. aranara theme of being a lil tree branch, growing through gaining new experiences\stories. wisdom is a growth through experiencing the world and drawing inspiration from it, processing it through your own understanding, creating something new entirely.
most dendros fit this scheme, even if they are not outright digital-coded. like baizhu fits. collecting information of as many illnesses as possible, not just collecting, but absorbing them personally, like an aranara with every disease, with ambition to transcend mortality.
but idk what yao yao is doing here. i didnt do emilie's quest yet, but even if she fits also, yao yao is still sticking out like a sore thumb. what does this baby nurse and her plush rabbit have to do with transcending of the known with accumulation of experiences \genuine question, if anyone has ideas let me know

Pneumousia Alignments
So I was looking for Arlecchino's Pnemuousia alignment when I remembered she doesn't have one, because she's not Fontainian. Idk if I hallucinated her with pneuma on her signature weapon or something, but it made me think, if she HAD BEEN Fontainian, what alignment would she have?
I started looking at other characters and came to a conclusion: pneuma is the embodiment of justice while ousia is the enforcer of justice.
Neuvillette is pneuma. I don't think I need to say any more. Charlotte is pneuma, which makes sense, as reporters can be associated with justice in a sense, holding people accountable via exposure.
Wriothesley is ousia, operating as an enforcer to the Fortress of Meropide. Chevreuse is literally an enforcer of the law. Clorinde as well, enacts the justice that is dispensed by the Court.
Navia had been a bit of a tip-off because she seems to be the type to be pneuma. She's sunny, optomistic, and her gold seems so much brighter than her blue when it comes to aesthetic. She has a strong sense of what's right and what's wrong, but! The justice she "embodies" is not quite her own. It is the legacy left by her father, the memories left of her mother, and the interwoven relationships of the Spina di Rosula. She holds these things in high regard, and enforces a moral conduct based on people's expectations of her. Lowkey, I think her design is half-bright-half-dark because she is both pneumousia, but ousia comes out on top.
This leads to Furina, who has both pneuma and ousia too. Pneuma, when she has long hair, is a symbol of justice that Focalors wanted her to embody, the clueless human playing at being a god, while her ousia, when she has short hair, is the enactment of that justice: duty-and-sin-free existence.
By this point it should be obvious that justice is subjective.
If we take a look at the HotH kids, Lynette has been doing missions long before her brothers, and has gone solo. A lot of under-the-cover-of-the-dark kind of missions. And we can't forget that she saw Arlecchino kill her captors. She has to be influenced by that. On the other hand, Lyney knows what happened, but he didn't experience it. There's still a certain sense of justice in him, as we see in Arlecchino's CQ. Freminet is the same. Only Lynette is implied that, if she had found Clervie first, she would've told Arlecchino day 1. It's only because of her brothers that she went along with it, influenced by their sense of justice.
When I say influence, I don’t mean that the ousia folk don’t have their own sense of justice. On the contrary, they are some of the most determined and resolute people in all of Fontaine. They just don’t care to spread that sort of justice to others, or inspire others with their justice.
As such, it wouldn’t be too farfetched for Arlecchino to have pneuma, I think.
We’ll see how well this little thing holds up when Emilie and Sigewinne come out ahaha.

Neuvillette 'i don't do personal relationship': so have i told you that i have a personal relationship with the warden of meropide?
Wriothesley 'i find it difficult to trust people': so have i told you that i let you do whatever here because i trust the iudex?

i think its a shame to see everyone focus so much on charlies relapse out of all of the scenes in solitaire. i get that they love charlie, but its important for a whole other reason.
charlie's relapse is the event that triggers tori's spiral. it's the catalyst that has her paranoid, intrusive thoughts spiral into really strong delusions and obsessions, that has her depression switch into a mania. that relapse is where it really starts to go downhill.
i could talk forever about how tori is a parentified child, and the type that is never talked about. she isnt a victim of abuse or neglect, but became some sort of a third parent when charlie got sick. she feels entirely responsible for his relapse (which she says so after she blames nick. stop hating her so much for blaming nick), so much so that it causes such a mental health crisis in her that she almost dies. for gods sake, she lets herself get hit by a firework.
she exhibits signs of a manic episode, at the very least a psychotic episode, which leads to her almost jumping off a roof. charlie's relapse may be important, but it is just as important to tori's story as it is to his own.
and if i hear 'my phone rings. 1:39am' to radiohead one more time, i think i may cry. and not because the scene is sad.
