my take on the miss piggy/morticia addams sexywoman poll is that while morticia would lose gracefully, miss piggy would 1000% attempt murder over the label and morticia would respect her for it. then theyd go out for tea and gossip together

I'm tired of living through unprecedented times, but I didn't see coming the part where I had to stand in front of my workplace in the middle of a power outage because my boss decided that not being able to go inside wasn't a good enough excuse
#it's been six hours and we didn't become worse because apparently we were pretty awful from the start#i hate it here#sara rambles

btw the katy perry/bezos' girlfriend/other four irrelevant billionaires 10 minute space stunt was not the first all female expedition no matter how much they try to market it as such. the first all female mission was in 1963 with soviet cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova, Irina Solovyova and Valentina Ponomaryova - all three of which were working class and had to pass incredibly hard exams to be chosen from 400 potential candidates. just in case we started falling for the propaganda machine again

Working customer service might be hell at times but how else would i keep my friends entertained on a saturday at 10am
#they are all so invested in my one sided beef with people using the umbrella stand as a trash can#although in my defense i did put up a sign telling them to use any of the three corporate colored ones and no one can read apparently#sara rambles

Dear video essay creators. A video analysis is when you analyze a piece of media. No no look at me. A summary, no matter how thorough, is not an analysis. An analysis requires you to draw conclusions about the media such as authorial intent, real-world parallels, discussion about themes/worldbuilding/character motivation, and so much more. You have to stop summarizing something and saying that’s analysis. The Gaylors are doing more critical analysis than you. Is that who you want to lose to? The gaylors?

Hey Sara 💕 I finally finished Babel last weekend and ohhhh! I was expecting the general idea of that ending, but the final section still broke my heart 😭 But I loved every part of it, it really felt like the kind of book that lets you be a part of another world for a while. And on multiple ocassions, it left me thinking how applicable to today's situation it was, with, for example, the student protests and how an unfair system works, stays in power.
It feels like R. F. Kuang really enjoys writing and that shines through in her books, if that makes any sense? Hopefully, most authors enjoy writing, but there's something about hers that made that stand out for me.
What did you think? Have you read other books by her?
Hope you'll have a lovely day ❤️
(Also I saw you mentioned you'd been working on the drawing with the dragon? I'd love to it!)
Hi, Seren! I'm so happy you liked it, it's definitely one of my favourite books. It feels like an ancient tragedy, once the story begins, there is no way to stop it because the people are playing exactly the roles they have to play, it literally cannot be any other way. Like you said, it transpires how much Kuang loves writing, but also her characters and the world she creates. When I studied linguistics, the themes of the books were talked about very briefly, so it was interesting to read about them in her fictional universe.
I am also reading The poppy war! I finished the first one a couple of months ago and I'm waiting for the right time to continue (they aren't a comfortable size to carry in your bag ahksjkds). I also pre-ordered Katabasis, which is coming out in August. It's about two students who descend into the underworld for their professor to finish their thesis. The premise sounds so funny and interesting to me, very my type of book.
The drawing is as finished as it can be for next week akjhskbs i will post the lineart and tag you <3

"the best way to screw jkr over is by making her characters queer!" actually. The best way to screw jkr over is to stop engaging with the property she still profits off of and read a different fucking book
