Pool Cover On Or Off During The Day, What Is Better?
We get asked this question a lot here, pool cover on or off during the day, what is the best option? Normally if you want to keep your pool clean you would have installed a pool cover that is on the pool at night. Some of these are electrically operated so they are easy to open and to close. You can also set these on a timer to open and close at certain times.
The issue most people face is what to do on a hot day? Is it better to leave it on or off if you want to heat your pool. Usually, if you cover up the pool, you can feel the top of the water is warm and the bottom will still be cool, but what happens if you leave it open most of the time to warm the entire pool. The theory is it would be heated by the sun, and guess what, it actually does heat the pool more.
If you stop using your cover during the day it will heat all the way to the bottom of the pool. It will also heat the pool better if you leave your pump off during the day. Then you can close your pool cover at night so it doesn’t lose heat to evaporation!
On a humid, calm or sunny warm sunny day, then open it up. On a standard 20×40 pool you can see around 6 degree gains on a very sunny day. Long story short, You’ll get a lot better heating with the cover off during a nice warm sunny day and retain the heat with the cover on at night.
Other benefits of only using your cover at night time is the longevity of your pool cover itself. Without the sun blasting the cover all the time its going to be cheaper in the long run to have it open every day. If you are using a pool heater this will also reduce the amount of time you need it on as you will be starting from a higher base temperature. So really, there is no downside.
I hope this helps you guys and if you decide if you should have your pool cover on or off during the day. If have any problems, simply leave a comment for us below!

Chlorine / CYA Pool Chart
Perhaps a cornerstone element of any pool owner is understanding the relationship between the chlorine in your pool and the stabilizer you put in to protect the chlorine from the sun. Generally, the more stabilizer, the more chlorine you need to maintain its effectiveness. The charts below show the recommended relationship for outdoor residential pools.
Non-SWCG Pools
SWCG Pools
* Not recommended
The shock levels shown have equivalent effective disinfecting chlorine amounts. At very high CYA levels it can be impractical to reach such high FC levels. At CYA levels over 80, a partial drain/refill to lower the CYA level is usually required before you start the SLAM.
Most saltwater chlorine generator (SWCG) pools appear to remain algae-free at a lower minimum FC level compared with the minimum FC column for manually dosed pools. This may be due to the high chlorine level within the cell.
For indoor pools we recommend CYA between 20 and 30ppm. The reasoning for using CYA indoors is quite different. For more information please ask in the comments.

Why Does Pool Water Turn Green, And Is It Safe?
How does swimming pool water turn green and exactly what are the consequences of swimming in a green pool? Well there are many but first lets go over why your pool is green in the first place. The green you see in your pool is what as known as Algae. While generally Algae is harmless in a river, in a pool it is a different story. We will explain why below.
Why Does My Pool Turn Green?
While there any many reasons why your pool would turn green, most of the time it is due to your pool pump not working and filtering the water. There have been many stories of people going on holiday and their pumps dying, and then people come to fix the pump without turning it back on. Another issue is your Levels may be incorrect or may need adjusting.
If this has happened to you, the best thing to do is to “shock” the water with bleach and then vacuum up all the remaining dirt, pollen, leaves etc. Normally shocking a pool can take 7 days but it is best to check your Levels to be sure when it is safe. We suggest using CLOROX Pool & Spa Green Algae Eliminator to shock the pool correctly!
The Lack Of Free Chlorine Matters!
When your pool has lots of algae, your FC (free chlorine) level is nearly 0. Without any FC, generally speaking a pool is unsafe to swim in. Its not exactly the algae that causes the danger in the water, its actually the other things that end up in the water. Chlorine is what keeps the pool sparkling clean. The algae will be essentially eating the chlorine. Without FC, and with all that algae, what ends up happening is certain bacteria have the potential to thrive
If you didn’t know, various animals will come and swim, drink and also nard in the water.
So while you might not mind the Algae, you may mind the fresh duck fecal matter that has been sitting on top of the water for the past week! While you are not guarantied to get sick from swimming in a pool with algae, it really isn’t a good idea. I mean you wouldn’t swim in a swap would you?
Why Can I Swim In A Lake But Not A Pool?
Lakes and rivers do get algae, but they are more of an self sustaining ecosystem. Lake will have a fine balance of bacteria, much greater water volumes, and filtration going on by the plant life. There are issues with bacteria in lakes too, many beaches will shut down on really hot days if the bacteria takes off, it’s just much more likely to happen in the small space of a pool. This is why it is advised you don’t put your head underwater when swimming in lakes. With a green pool, you end up with a much higher chance of getting an illness (especially a throat, eye or ear infection).
So The Verdict? Is It Safe?
Well, in the end its up to you. But I wouldn’t put the safety of my children or family in harms way because I forgot to clean the pool. As said before this is NOT the same as swimming in a river or lake as they are a natural ecosystem and it doesn’t matter if they are green (Most of the time). Remember if its GREEN, We suggest using CLOROX Pool & Spa Green Algae Eliminator to shock the pool correctly!!
If you think otherwise we would love to hear from you in the comments below!

Pool Party Ideas For Adults
Pool parties aren’t just for teenagers and children, adults can also get in on the fun too! However, when you are planning a pool party for adults, you will realize that the approach you take should be totally different with that for kids.  In this article, we will discuss the best pool party ideas for adults to help you organize an unforgettable event.
Pool Party Themes
Incorporate themed decorations and party supplies that are enticing and pocket friendly. You can make your food, favors or activities to match the theme. Here are some top pool party themes for adults:
Colors: Invite your guests to wear coordinated swimwear according to theme colors, such as metallic gold or black and white polka dots.
Las Vegas: You can change your menu with unexpected items, such as Ruben sandwiches or sushi. Place tables beside the pool for poker games or blackjack. If you want, you can buy some prizes and allow people play for them!
Carnival: This theme requires you to recreate the atmosphere around your pool by hanging yellow, blue, white and red decorations. Provide snow cones and cotton candy and hire a fortune teller or invite a person who is amateur tarot card reader.
Beach Party: To apply this theme, you do not have to dump sand everywhere! Instead, scatter seashells on table, cover chairs with beach towels and add some beachside favorite dishes, suc as ice cream and hot dogs.
Hawaiian Luau: It is the most popular pool party theme. You have to decorate the area with tropical flowers and bright colors. Consider including a carved fruit bowl with you refreshments. You can even ask your guests to wear Hawaiian print shirts and turn it into a contest for the most outrageous ones.
Decoration Ideas
Use themed slipovers and tabletop decorations to emphasize the theme and enhance the atmosphere. Keep the furniture arranged in small groups around the pool perimeter. Plan the lighting accordingly by incorporating votive candles, electric lights and tiki torches to illuminate conversational spaces without the need for harsh flood lights. Decorate your pool with inflatable beach balls, themed rubber ducky’s and squishy water bombs.
Add potted palms and plants give the pool area an exotic appeal. Keep the changing rooms separate from the bathroom to accommodate the wet swimsuits, hair ties and extra towels. Provide attractive votive candle holders, fun shaped soaps and themed hand towels. Keep your serving tables set up on the outside area. Create a separate venue for dining for a change of scenery. Add themed place card holders to each table to identify covered drink and dishes names.
Pool Party Food Ideas
We actually recently did an article on Pool Party Food Ideas. Pool party for adults is not complete without a bunch of foods for guests. Prepare the food before the event starts to avoid last minute rush.  Plan of delicious foods, such as chips, tacos, watermelon slices, fresh lemonades and popsicles. If you want, fire up your grill and prepare some burgers and hot dogs. Make sure there are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks to keep your guests hydrated.  Avoid alcohol as it does not go well with heat and sun. Add drinks, like orange lemonade, non-alcoholic sangria, non-alcoholic mojito and Paloma fizz cocktail.

Top Pool Party Food Ideas
With summer in full swing, the best way you can cool off is by hosting a pool party.  Pool parties are great way to end the summer and there is no better celebrate summer than splashing and having lots of fun in the pool. Of course, no pool party is complete without a bunch of foods for the guests.  Whether drinks, main dishes, side dishes, salads and of course dessert, it is imperative that you plan yourself well. You certainly do not want your guests to starve after spending most of their time playing in and around your swimming pool. Here are the best pool party food ideas to help you plan your pool party this summer.
What to Serve for Your Pool Party
Food for your pool party should be easy pick with your hands.
Dips
Subs
Pizza
All are good options.  To save on your pool party food, consider starting the during the normal meal times.  Your guests will certainly expect lunch if the party starts at 11:00am or noon, but not so much at 2pm.  It works well for the evening too, most people will not expect dinner for a night pool party that starts at 7:30pm. A later start may not work if you are planning a kid’s party.
More importantly, avoid getting everyone to sit down for a meal.  Meals can be too heavy and kids will want to escape to continue playing. Most of your guests are more likely to go for foods that are easy to grab on.  During this time fire up the BBQ for your party, it is the ideal time to be grilling!
Kiddie Pool Food Holder
If you are worried about food getting mushy and warm in the hot heat, consider filling up a kiddie pool with ice and place all your food in it to keep it nice and fresh.  A kiddie pool not only helps you to keep your food cool, but also showcases your pool party theme.
Zucchini Crisps
Chips are a perfect pool party snack, but if you want a low carb diet that still packs the crunch, consider baking your own Zucchini crisps.   Consider seasoning fresh zucchini slices with parmesan, pepper, salt and olive oil. Bake for 10 minutes and ensure that each serving contains 2.4 g net carbs.
Fish Tacos and Mini Sliders
Grill fresh snapper, mahi mahi, salmon or halibut on foil on the BBQ and season with pepper and lime. Warm small tortillas for serving and top the tacos with a cilantro, fresh salsa, chopped cabbage and cayenne aioli. Pineapple mango salsa is also a perfect option during summer. Other perfect barbecue foods are mini sliders.  You can buy mini beef burger patties from food stores or make them on your own. Alternatively, you can do fish sliders or use grilled mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
Non-Alcoholic Summer Drinks
Sun, heat and swimming do not go well with alcohol. Apart from the safety factor, you need to consider dehydration, especially for full day pool parties.   Here are some non-alcoholic drinks adults and kids will love:
Non-alcoholic mojito
Paloma fizz mocktail
Orange lemonade
Non-alcoholic sangria
These are just some pool party food ideas you should consider. There are many other foods you can choose to provide depending on the theme of your pool party.

Saltwater Pools vs Chlorine Pools:  Pros and Cons
There are two major types of swimming pools you can choose from: salt water pools or chlorine pools. The choice of any of them depends on your preferences and individual needs. However, making a choice on which pool is better might be a big challenge, especially if you are a new swimmer. In this article, we have provided you with the pros and cons of each of these swimming pools to help you choose the best one for your needs.
Pros of Salt Water Swimming Pool
Contains low levels of Chlorine
Salt water contains some amount of natural chlorine. There is no need of physical adding chemical chlorine since the pool systems itself converts salt into chlorine.
Gentler on your Skin
A salty water swimming pool causes little or no damage to your skin since it contains a very little amount of chlorine.
Beneficial to Muscles and Joints
Salt water contains some minerals such as bromine that help relieve soreness, pain and aches that you may experience in your muscles and joints.
Low Salt Levels
Although it is called a salty water swimming pool, the levels of salt are very low. Health specialists say that amount of salt in these pools to be equal to salt contained in human tears. Thus, the salt is harmless to your health.
Requires less Maintenance
Salty water discourages the growth of water plants such as green algae in your swimming pool.  Furthermore, most modern saltwater systems are designed to automatically clean your swimming pool water.
Cons of a Salt Water Pool
Requires Huge Capital to Establish
Although its maintenance cost is low, you have to spend a lot of money to establish it. For example, you require an automatic saltwater system that will monitor and automatically clean the water in the pool.
Exposure to Corrosion
Salt contained in the pool water may affect materials such as underwater lighting, heaters and some masonry works.  This might make you incur unnecessary repair costs.
Pros of Chorine Water Swimming Pool
  Easy to Maintain
The pool requires low maintenance. You only need to add some chlorine tablets when the level of chlorine the water goes down, or after replacing the pol water.  Moreover, you can easily automate the process of chlorination
Low Initial Costs
Unlike a salt water swimming pool, this pol does not require a lot of expenses during its construction. It is designed just like a traditional pool.
Chlorine Clears Water Bacteria
The chlorine that you add into the pool regularly plays a major role in ensuring that there are no bacteria. Chlorine is a disinfectant and sanitary mineral.
Reduces Growth of Plants in your Pool
Chlorine is more efficient in killing algae and other water plants than the mere salt contained in a salt water pool. It helps keep your pool free o other saprophytic organisms.
Cons of a Chlorine Water Swimming Pool
Chlorine Leads to Development of Chloramines
Chlorine being a chemical mineral, it combines with cosmetics and body fluids leading to formation of chloramines. Chloramine is harmful to your eyes, hair skin and other external body parts.
Requires High Maintenance
Though its construction is cheap, the cost of maintaining the swimming pool is high. For example, you have to add chlorine tablets into the pool water regularly.
Chlorine is Harmful to your Health
Chlorine can lead to respiratory disorders such as asthma. Recent studies show that high levels of chlorine can lead to some types of cancer.
  Which is better?
When most people imagine a swimming pool, they think of the fun, relaxation and entertainment that come with it.  While pools facilitate these great feelings, pool owners have to decide which type of swimming meets their needs well. Generally, there are two major types of swimming pools: chlorine pools and salt water pools. The disagreement over chlorine versus salt water pools has been going for quite some time now. Each type of pool has its own advantages and disadvantages. Costs, maintenance and health concerns are the primary reasons for the debate between these two pool systems.  In this article we will compare these two pools so you can easily choose the right one for your needs.
Equipment Cost
Traditional chlorine pools are cheaper to acquire.  You only have to buy a mixing vessel with pipe connections. There are no electronics and other components needed for the pool to operate. To chlorinate the pool, you need to acquire a chlorine float that holds a few chlorine tablets as they slowly dissolve in the water. Though chlorine floats have a downside of not allowing you to control the amount of chlorine dissolved in the water, they are ridiculously cheap.
Salt water systems are costly to acquire, with the cheapest costing about $400. If you go for popular brands, such as Hayward AquaRite and Pentair Intellichlor, you may pay thousands of dollars. Thus, a salt water pool may not be ideal if you are working on a limited budget.
Installation Cost
Salt water systems have three parts, namely flow switch, power center and chlorinator cell. All these parts need mounting, wiring and plumbing, which may require you to hire a professional. Chlorine tablet feeders, on the other hand, are easy to install. All you need to do is fill the feeder with chlorine tablets and drop it in the pool.
Maintenance Cost
Though the equipment and installation costs of chlorine pools are low, their maintenance costs are extremely high.  The time and labor used in keeping your pool water correct is something you have to deal with over the years. You will have to test the water at least once a week as well deal with the toxic caustic chlorine tablets.
Saltwater pools are easy and cheap to maintain. The chlorinator removes the guesswork from pool maintenance using the alert light display and the control panel’s error code.  The saltwater system reads the salt levels, pH level, water temperature and water flow to keep chlorination production at ideal levels.
Health Concerns
Chlorine pools may contain high levels of chlorine if they are not maintained properly. Pool water with high levels of chlorine is known to be hard on the skin as it contains chemicals known as chloramines. Chloramines are created as a result of chlorine mixing with things like sweat and urine. Chloramines cause irritation of the skin, lungs and eyes. When chloramines accumulate in the air within the pool, especially for indoor pools, they can cause coughing as well as trigger asthma. Salt water pools have water that feels soft and is gentle on your skin. The presence of salt in water reduces skin and eye irritation that can be experienced in a chorine pool.
Most swimmers explained their swimming experience on salt water pools as fun and enjoyable. The salt water feels soft, which consequently makes your skin smooth. Though the cost of installing a salt water pool is high, you certainly save money in the long run due to its low maintenance costs. This explains why most pool owners today are installing salt water pools.

Saltwater System for Above ground Pool, Everything you NEED to know!
Most pool owners today love salt water pools because they are easy to maintain and swimmers love the soft feel of the water. Salt water pools consistently have chlorinators that produce chlorine automatically. The chlorinator maintains steady chlorine residual that prevents cloudy water and algae. Unlike traditional chlorine pools, saltwater pools are less expensive to run. There are two types of saltwater swimming pools: in-ground and above ground pools. In this article, we will discuss all there is to know about choosing a saltwater system for above ground pool.
Selecting the right Above Ground Pool
There are many factors you need to consider when choosing your above ground pool apart from how pretty it is. It is important to consider the size, depth, shape and frame style of your above ground pool.  Your local codes and size of your yard may also play a big role in determine the kind of pool you can buy.
Size: Depending on the size of your backyard and local ordinances, you must decide whether you want an oval or round pool. Most customers tend to choose oval-shaped pools because they think it is bigger. However, depending on the size of your yard, a round pool may be more logical.
Depth: Most above ground pools have a depth of 54”, 52” and 48”. The depth of your pool determines the amount of water it can hold. If you are buying the pool for smaller children, consider buying shallower pool. Similarly, if you are buying the pool for taller people, consider buying a pool with the tallest walls.
Frame style: The frame of your pool includes plates, bottom rails, uprights and top ledges. Most above ground swimming pools are usually made of resin, aluminum or steel. For a saltwater pool, consider choosing a pool made from resin. Resin does not oxidize, corrode or rust. It is more expensive than steel. It does not get too hot when exposed to the sun and can hold up to water and elements quite well.
Choosing the Pump and Filter System
There are three types of filter systems you can choose for your pool: DE filter system, cartridge filter system and sand filter system. Consider choosing a filter system that is large enough for your pool size. If you choose an oversized filter, you will have much easier time when it comes to maintain the pool.
Saltwater Pool System
Also known as a chlorine generator, a saltwater pool system converts dissolved salt into chlorine.  The electrolytic cell in the chlorinator destroys chloramines which can cause damaged bathing suits, bleached/green hair, irritated skin and chlorine odor.
There are two main parts of a saltwater system: control board and the cell. The control board allows you to adjust the amount of chlorine produced while the cell allows electrolysis to take place to create chlorine.
Here are the four critical factors to consider when choosing a saltwater system for above ground pool:
Size: The size of your saltwater pool system is determined by the capacity of your pool. If you are not certain how many gallons your pool holds, use a volume calculator to find out.
Features: Choose a system that provides all bells and whistles according to your location and the how much automation you need. Fancy chlorinators allow you to adjust chlorine levels and salt levels as well as offer flow control, automatic cleaning, freeze protection and digital readouts.
Budget: Go for a chlorinator that is within your budget, but of a good quality. Consider replacement costs and lifespan of the unit when making your selection.

How to Convert Saltwater Pool Back to Chlorine
Though this may come as a surprise to some, not every pool owner loves salt chlorine generators. Some pool owners do not like to experience the rusting, soft stone decks or investing a few hundred dollars for replacement cell. Regardless of what the reason is, some pool owners are looking for the easiest way to convert salt water pool back to chlorine pool. In this article, we will discuss all that you need to know when it comes to converting salt water pool to traditional chlorinated pool.
Draining the Pool
To convert a salt water pool to a fresh water pool, you will have to drain a portion of your salt pool water and replace it with fresh water. This helps to lower the levels of Cyanuric acid (CYA). Cyanuric acid works as a stabilizer. The chlorine produced by the salt water generator is a pure form. This means you have add Cyanuric acid to protect the chlorine.  The CYA levels of a salt water pool should be 80 to 90 parts per million (ppm), while the level of chlorine should be about 40 ppm.
Since Cyanuric acid does not dissipate from pool water like chlorine, you have to drain a portion of your pool water and then refill it with fresh mesh.  A good way of doing this is using the percentage method.  If the level of CYA is at 80 ppm and you want it at 40ppm, drain about half of the water in your pool.
Balancing Chemicals for Your Pool
After draining the salt water and refilling it with fresh water, you need to continue your regiment of testing hardness, alkalinity and pH before applying the necessary chemicals. It is recommendable you chuck your CYA bottles since liquid and tablet chlorine contain stabilizers with their formulas.
What about the Residual Salt?
After draining the salt water, you may notice some residential. This left over salt may not pose danger to your pool equipment.  The corrosion in your pool was created by electrolysis caused by reaction to the salt cells and not the salt itself. Thus, the leftover salt is relatively harmless.
Choosing Your Chlorinator
Install the chlorinator after installing your solar panels, gas heater and filter. There are many types of chlorinators you can choose from. For both off-line and in-line types,  the biggest concern would be the spacing and location.
Regular flow through cells, such as Pureline, AquaRite and Intellichlor may be long enough for an in-line chlorinator to be slotted in its place. Similarly, an off-line chlorinator would be an ideal solution if your cell has an odd configuration such as Jandy AquaPure Ei or CompuPool. You have to make a small hole for tapping the plumbing line and for the feeder line.
Removing the Old Salt Equipment
You need to remove the old salt system using these three steps:
Turn off the power to the control box before un-mounting it.
Take out the flow switch before plugging the tee tap.
Remove the cell from the plumbing line.
These are the crucial stages involving when converting your salt water pool back to chlorine pool. By following the above steps, you will certainly having an easy time doing the job.

How to Convert Chlorine Pool to Salt Water Pool
Salt water pools have grown in popularity in the recent years. This is because they are easy to maintain.  Additionally, salt water pools are healthy and gentler on your eyes, skin and hair than chlorine pools. There are many reasons why most pool owners are switching from chlorine pools. First, chlorinated water is known to be hard on the skin as it contains chemicals known as chloramines. Chloramines are created as a result of chlorine mixing with things like sweat and urine.
Chloramines cause irritation of the skin, lungs and eyes. When chloramines accumulate in the air within the pool, especially for indoor pools, they can cause coughing as well as trigger asthma .More exposure to chlorine causes some people to develop an allergy causing itchy skin, rashes and hives.
Salt water pools have water that feels soft and is gentle on your skin. The presence of salt in water reduces skin and eye irritation that can be experienced in a chorine pool. When chlorine levels are stabilized there’s no formation of chloramines hence the water salinity is closer to the salinity of your natural tear duct. Here are the critical steps to follow when converting a chlorine pool to a salt water pool.
Determine Where the Various Installations Will Be Done
For most in-ground swimming pools, you have to add the salt system to your existing plumbing. The installation should be done after the heater, filter and pump and within the proximity of the control panel and the power source. If you will be installing the cell in the previous system, be sure to install where the previous chlorine dispenser was located.
Add the Check Valve, Flow Switch and Plumbing
First, ensure the water flows smoothly into your pool. Avoid obstructions and sharp angles as these can cause back pressure on the system, increasing the work of the pump. More importantly, use couplings and elbows to make sure the water flows with least amount of resistance.
Second, install the flow switch after the cell in the plumbing system according to the manufacturer’s instruction. Check for directional arrows on the PVC casing that screws to it or the flow switch itself.
Third, install the check valve before installing the cell or after adding the heater or filter if you have one.  This prevents highly chlorinated water and chemicals from back flowing to the filter or heater.
Install an In-Line Zinc Anode
An in-line zinc anode helps to prevent corrosion of your pool hard water.  Consider installing the anode during the conversion as you work on the plumbing.  For added convenience, install the anode near your cell and be sure to add a grounding wire.
Mount the Power Supply and Control Panel
Mount the power supply and control panel in an accessible area. This can be within reach of the timer, switch or cell cord if necessary. Lastly, connect and switch on the main power supply. It is recommendable you hire an electrician if you do not know how to work with electricity.
Add Salt
The final step to completing your salt water pool conversion process is to add salt. The amount of salt added depends on your pool’s gallonage and salinity of the pool water.  The recommended salt range is 3,000 to 3,500ppm.
These are the critical steps to follow when converting chlorine pool to salt water pool. Be sure to hire an experience swimming pool contractor, if you need any assistance.

Top 5 Salt Water Pool Benefits Every Pool Owner Should Know
Installing a swimming pool is an ideal way of spending time with your family and friends on those hot summer days. Swimming pools also help to add the resale value of your home. When it comes to installing a new swimming pool, you have to decide whether you want an in ground or above ground swimming pool.  Similarly, you have to choose between a chlorinated pool and a salt water pool. Even though a chlorinated pool has many benefits, there are many advantages of owning a salt water pool.   Here are the top 4 salt water pool benefits.
Less Maintenance in Needed
One of the top benefits of salt water pool is that it generates chlorine automatically. This means less chemical adjustments will be required on a weekly basis.  Newer salt water pool system work to sanitize the pool automatically, even though they are not completely maintenance free. However, it is important you test the waters on a weekly basis. Additionally, self-cleaning of the pool water mean less routine maintenance is needed than chlorine pool.
Gentle on Eyes
Salt water pools have much less salt than the ocean.  This means when you get splashed in the face or open your eyes under water, it won’t sting. The salt concentration of the pool is very similar to that of human tears.  Some indoor chlorinated pools will make your eyes water and lungs to burn.  Salt water pools have no chemical fumes to irritate your respiratory system or eyes.
Gentle on Skin and Hair
Chlorine causes your skin to dry out. It makes your hair brittle and discolored. Since salt water pools have less chlorine, the water in them is less gentle. This means people with a sensitive skin can confidently swim in the pool without worrying about getting irritated.  In fact, most swimmers say the salt water makes them feel better.  They say salt makes water to feel soft, which consequently makes the skin to feel smoother after swimming.
Less Chlorine is Safe
A high concentration of chlorine can cause severe chemical burns. When you swim in water saturated with chlorine, the chlorine gets absorbed into your skin. Once it gets into the body it causes serious breathing problems, allergies and asthma. Recent studies also show a close relationship between chlorine exposures to certain types of cancer.
Cost Benefits
For a chlorinated pool, you expect to spend at least $40 monthly on chemicals necessary to keep the pool clean. With salt water pool, you only have to pour a bag of salt into the salt machine once every 6 weeks. Even then, a bag of salt is cheaper than buying chlorine chemicals monthly. Salt water pools will allow you to not only save money on pool maintenance, but also your swimwear will last longer since there are no high levels of chlorine to cause fading. Energy costs will be lower than what you would expect from a chlorinated pool.
These are just some of the top salt water pool benefits. The only problem with salt water pool is that the automatic chlorine generator uses saltwater. Salt water causes damages to steel and concrete. Thus, it is important that you ensure that your salt water pool is well sealed to prevent damage to the surrounding.

5 Salt Water Pool Maintenance Tips Every Pool Owner Should Know
Salt water pools are increasingly becoming popular in recent years. This is because they are less expensive to own and easy to maintain. Unlike normal chlorinated pools, salt water pools are less harsh on the skin and hair. Salt water also acts as a gentle disinfectant that keeps cuts and scrapes clean. Many pool owners believe that salt water pools are maintenance free. Even though there is less maintenance required with a salt water system, there are still necessary steps needed to maintain a stable pool. Here are 5 valuable salt water pool maintenance tips.
Measure the Salt Level Regularly
For a salt water pool to functioning properly, the salt level must be kept within the correct range. Most manufacturers recommend a salt level of 3400 ppm for just about any saltwater chlorinator. If the pool water does not have enough salt, it will not be conductive enough to conduct electricity across the electrolytic reaction and the cell plates. Thus, it is imperative that you check the salt levels regularly to ensure there is enough salt in the pool always.
Check the Pool’s PH Level
Apart from salt level, your pool’s pH level is also crucial. Salt water pools have higher pH levels when compared to chlorinated pools.  Experts recommend that a pH level around 7.4 to 7.5 for a saltwater pool. Note that your salt water pool produces sodium hydroxide when it is producing chlorine. This causes the pH level to keep rising. Thus, if you don’t keep check your pH regularly, it will rise to higher levels and can create scaling in the pool and discomfort for swimmers.
Remove Debris Manually
It is important that you remove any debris from the pool. Filters and pumps should be inspected regularly to make sure nothing is clogged. Clogged pumps and filters can slow down water. Salt chlorinators usually have an indicator that shows when there is an issue. However, it is recommended that you inspect your chlorinator and the cell at least every three months.
Maintain Stabilizer Chemistry
The salt cell or chlorinator is what makes your salt water pool work. It creates chlorine from the pool water, thus eliminating the need of adding chlorine regularly to the pool. A salt chlorinator works continuously to add a low level of chlorine to the pool water to kill algae and other microorganisms. If the salt chlorinator becomes filmed with mineral deposits, it stops works. Thus, it is important that you inspect your salt cell regularly and clean it if necessary.
Seal the Pool Properly and Protect the Deck
Although salty water is healthy for the skin, it is corrosive to many other items. Thus, it is important to seal your pool properly so that the salty water does not rust metals or otherwise damage the pool. Additionally, protect all the decks surrounding the pool, regardless of whether the surround is made from concrete, stone or word. Consider applying a high quality sealer to prevent salt water from causing costly damage to the deck surface over time.
Proper salt water pool maintenance can help to give your pool a longer lifespan without serious maintenance issues. Thus, if you enjoy swimming, take proper care of your pool and enjoy it for many years.

DIY Pool Party Decoration Ideas
If you have a pool, you certainly would want to have a beautiful backyard around it.  You want a space that is peaceful, cool and inviting.  If you are planning to throw a pool party, you may want to add pool party decorations to match your chosen pool party theme. The best part is that you can make these decorations on your own. Here are some DIY pool party decoration ideas you can execute.
Entrance / Welcome
Welcome your guests to your pool party by directing to the party area with signage, streamers or pennants that pave way for fun. One of the best ways of doing this is by using a sidewalk chalk to draw creative designs on the garden paths and driveway to show guests their desired entrance.
Pool Fence
Decorate the pool fence with flowered garland looped across the top. For a more festive look, hang plastic shovels, lifesaver-shaped floats and other fun beach items from the looped garland.
Food Table
If you have a gazebo, fill a bunch of colorful balloons with helium. Attach a long string and then fill the gazebo celling with them. This is a great decoration over a food table. Cut shapes out of paper and slip them into the forks to set as placeholders. Place your knives and forks in a cute flower pot instead of having them just lying out. If you will be using plastic cups, wrap a band of washing tape around them for a more stylish look.
Pool Area
Put Beautiful Potted Plants on the Pool Side
You do not have to spend a lot of cash luxurious pots to use plants in your pool side. You can decorate plain pots with jewels, lace, fabric or paint. Even if you are not a skilled master crafter, you can give a plain oil pot some personality by painting a simple, shimmery, gold strip around it. Place the painted points on the pool side for a natural look.
Use Overhead Decorations
Make an overhead decoration by tying large balloons to a heavy string. Tie the strings across the pool and over the food tables for a festive flair.
Bring a Toddler’s Plastic Swimming Pool
If you are planning for a kid pool party, consider getting a toddler’s plastic swimming pool for holding the children’s water toys, such as water balloons (for teens), water guns, floats, shovels and plastic buckets.
Create a Bowling Alley
This is also ideal for a kid pool party. To create a bowling alley, you need two standard pool noodles and one and half noodle.  Use a duct tape (it comes in beautiful colors and festive designs) and a tape to create a three-sided alley on the grass. Use plastic items, such as a large plastic glass and then use beach balls that are too big for the toddlers to hold as the bowling ball.
When Not Using the Pool
If you will not be using the pool, another great DIY decoration idea is to fill the pool with balloons that just float on the top. Fill the balloons with regular and not helium. For an adult pool party, fill large balloons with helium, attach a long string to reach the bottom and float the balloons above the water. There are many other DIY pool party decorations you can try out. If you are using a specific pool party theme, make sure that the decorations match with it.

Before choosing your waterproof tattoo cover for swimming, it is important to consider factors, such as:
Degree of your tattoo fading
Colors in your original tattoo

To cover your tattoo you will need a concealer, a red lipstick and some translucent powder to present the makeup from smearing. Make sure that you choose items that are waterproof. Follow the steps below to cover up your tattoo.
Step 1: Apply the red lipstick on the tattoo.
Red color is essential as it contrasts with the darker color of the tattoo. It makes that tattoo appear as more neutral color, like you have applied a concealer. The red lipstick also helps to bring out a better natural skin color than the concealer. Additionally, it helps the make up to stick to your skin easily.
Step 2: Apply the Lighter Tattoo Concealer
Use the lighter concealer to cover the lipstick application. Use your brush to blend it with the lipstick application, until you can tell there is a tattoo underneath. The lighter concealer ensures  the red lipstick does not show through.
Step 3: Apply the Waterproof Tattoo Concealer
Apply the next waterproof tattoo cover up that matches the color of your skin.  Blend it in using the brush until you cannot see the edges. By this time, you should have concealed a tattoo. The moisture from the red lipstick ensures that the tattoo area does not appear chalky and also prevents the cover up from looking too bright. This triple layer tattoo cover up method can be used on all tattoos successfully.
A waterproof tattoo cover up is vital before going for a swimming trip. With a good understanding of the steps above, you will certainly have an easy time applying the waterproof tattoo cover for swimming.
