Loki knows Dream is listening, watching, when he says you can’t trick Dream, not in his own realm. He looks right at him when he wonders aloud what Dream wants.

When he says ‘what does Dream dream about?’

(He’s replying to Odin but is he? Is his question really for Odin at all?)

So later when Loki is caught sneaking out of Dream’s own palace, having switched places with another guest Dream had given his own protection to—it seems like it could be a contradiction, doesn’t it?

It certainly leads to what looks like a stalemate: Loki offers Dream anything, then makes it very clear he’d never abide being in Dream’s debt. That he can be under obligation to no one.

(Interesting word isn’t it? Obligation? Not just meaning debt, meaning duty, commitment.

And Dream replies using the same word)

Dream has already said he won’t let another of his guests take Loki’s place. And Loki has already asked if Dream would instead return him to an eternity of torture and pain?

(He’s already said ‘free us both’)

And Dream has offered a third option.

But when Loki asks to settle the price right then and there, Dream very specifically doesn’t yet let him pay it.

And when Loki—who has specifically said right to Dream’s face that he cannot abide being in Dream’s debt—accepts ‘reluctantly’, is it really reluctance just because that’s what you call yourself?

Yeah.

I think Loki may have figured out exactly what Dream might want. I think Dream may have already asked for it.

Just such an interesting scene between two characters who are masters of hidden meaning. These two were having a very different conversation to what this looks like on the surface.

I love Calliope as a character and I chuckled when she glares at Dream for being all prickly with Orpheus in their first scene by the beach.

But it isn't really explained what she expected Dream to do when she divorced him. Surely she wouldn't have been ok with Dream going to Hades and trading Orpheus for Eurydice, which is what Dream said would happen.

Can we take a moment to appreciate just how hard Tom worked for Dream's physique, both here and in S1. I'm no gym buff but gaining muscle while maintaining a rake like body must be outrageously demanding.

Give me the Corinthian trailing behind them being all excited to see the world and maybe sneaking away to eat some eyeballs, show a bit more of his history and character, PLEASE

Oh my heart. I want just one, just one scene, one flash back, of Dream treating young and happy Orpheus a little better.

Anything to explain how Orpheus remains so sweet and kind towards Dream even after his father abandoned him without a body for hundreds of years.
