Getting the proportions (and details) right on power armor was really tricky. I am only somewhat satisfied with the results.

Morrigan is complete! I *loved* painting her face and hair, though I struggled with the colors and background on this one. But I’m still pretty happy with the finished result 🥰 That’s all of the origins romance options!! I would love to someday do all of the companions, but I think for now I’ll be focusing on the romancable ones. So, stick around for the DA2 romance options next ❤️
And for those who are waiting on prints, they’re coming soon I promise!! I’ve had several separate delays happen in setting everything up, but it should be (actually) soon now!!

exploring Origins Toolset (a gift that keeps on giving) and the V.A. directions for Arl Howe are FASCINATING. he has a secondary thought appended to every line of dialogue during the opening scene of Human Noble Origin -- and the insight into his psyche is somehow even more fucked-up than I thought
Bryce: I'm sorry pup; I didn't see you there. Howe, you remember my daughter? Howe: I see she's become a lovely young woman. Pleased to see you again, my dear.
Friendly, but hollow. "Here's the necessary exchange of pleasantries nobles must go through. I'm kind of preoccuppied with making sure your father is on track for my secret plan."
Cousland: Is your family here, Arl Howe? Howe: Oh no, I left them in Amaranthine, well away from the fighting in the south. They do send their best wishes.
Distracted. "I left them well out of harm's way. Though I don't want you to know harm is coming."
Howe: My son Thomas asked after you. Perhaps I should bring him with me next time.
Gauging the player's reaction. "My son wants to marry you. I don't approve, but mentioning it may get you to trust me."
Cousland (version 1): To what end? Howe: Ha! "To what end", she says! So glib, too. She's just like her mother when she talks like that.
Friendly, slightly menacing undertone. "You don't fool me, girl. You're playing dumb, but you're smarter than your reply suggests. I won't underestimate anyone in your family."
Cousland (version 2): ...Thomas is a few years younger than I am. Howe: As you get older, those years make less difference. A lesson often hard won.
Elsewhere. "It doesn't matter how old you are. You won't be getting any older."
THIS IS CRAZY. THIS IS A CRAZY THING TO SAY. OR THINK SECRETLY AS YOU'RE EXCHANGING PLEASANTRIES

One of my favorite things in a good romance is when scenes are repeated to show character growth/used to bookend the arc of the romance (Mr. Darcy sharing his feelings with Lizzy, anyone?) and today I’m thinking about the two scenes of Gale getting on his knees and taking Tav’s hand.
Tumblr media
How it starts: Gale hesitantly letting Tav into his heart, letting Tav be the first person he’s shared the truth with, the first person whose touch he’s felt in over a year. The way that he clings desperately to their hand, needing their help but unsure if they will give it. The way that his expression is pleading but hopeless, his eyes dry as he awaits Tav’s judgement—because he knows that no matter what their answer is, the orb is growing more unstable, and this is probably the beginning of the end of his life.
Tumblr media
How it ends: Gale, having not only let Tav into his heart, but given it to them fully. The way that he no longer needs to cling to their hand, but instead takes it gently, worshipfully, knowing this is the hand that saved his life. The way that there’s no trace of uncertainty in his expression, just fully bared emotion and adoration—because the orb is no longer a threat, Tav has said yes to his marriage proposal, and this is not just the beginning of the rest of his life, but the beginning of the rest of their life, together.

An “animated” Necromancer Dorian because it’s just not drawn/written about enough for my liking. MORE NECROMANCER DORIAN!
Note to self: learn to animate

Thinking about Kaidan Alenko, a 6-month-old boy. All big eyes and dimples on cheeks. You'd never think there is something wrong with him by looking at him, but there is.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko, a 2-year-old sitting with his mother in yet another waiting room. This is his second checkup this year. He already knows what a tumor is. He knows that tumors start in your head and kill you. That is why his mom is always so scared for him. He doesn't want her to be scared.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko, a 3-year-old. Somehow still alive.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko, a 4-year-old. His mom saw him move a toy just by looking at it. Now there's a different kind of fear in her eyes.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko, a 5-year-old. His mom tells him, "Only mama and papa can know, Kaidan. No one else. Not even other children. Or bad people will come and take you away from us."
Think of Kaidan Alenko, a 10-year-old who's already terrified of losing control.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko listening as his parents talk to some people in suits downstairs. His mother's voice getting louder and higher. He knows exactly what it means.
Thinking of Kaidan Alenko, shivering. This is his first surgery. "I don't want this," he says, and the nurse replies, "Start counting from ten."
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko, curled up in a ball, finally knowing what it must feel like to have a tumor in your head.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko. Thinking about the moment when what he has just done hits him. Not because of the dead body at his feet, but because of the animal fear in someone else's eyes.
Thinking about Kaidan Alenko. An old soldier. A man who has rebuilt himself from the ground up more times than you can imagine. A man who knows the score. A man who still falls in love like a young boy. A man who will fight like hell for the chance to hold the person he loves in his arms again. A man who still gets left behind.
