Post-submission death spiral

Dear dog, I will write a piece of fiction. I will think it's balls when I'm done with the first draft. I'll get back to it a few days later, and realise that it's not half as bad as I thought it was. In fact, there are some genuinely pretty turns of phrase showing me their throats.

And I'll have my beta feedback that I'll take on board. Some bits they'll have to pry out of my cold, dead hands, of course, but I'll modify. Polish.

And submit the story, realising that it's erring slightly on the Mad Max side of things rather than solarpunk. But jawellnofine, whatever. I wanted to show people who did get over a measure of technophobia in a post-techbro world.

So the story works for me. And if they publisher thinks its balls, I'll sub it around a few places then shove it in my collection of orphans I'll eventually get around to publishing.

And I've submitted.

And now I feel like everything I've ever written is just balls. And I should delete every manuscript off my hard drive and take up a more sensible career like chicken farming or ... I don't know ... go live under a bridge because that's all I'm good for once the techbros finish automating everything and the nasty old men in suits start lobbing large nuclear explosive thingies at each other.
