The entire Al Jazeera crew in Gaza City was assassinated, including its reporters and cameramen:
Reporter: Anas Al-Sharif
Reporter: Mohammed Qreiqah
Cameraman: Ibrahim Zaher
Cameraman: Mo’men Alwiyeh
Crew driver: Mohammed Noufal
Update: Monday, August 11
Anas Al-Sharif was covering the events in Gaza that we live through, and he was conveying our suffering to the world.
Today, who will tell our story? Who will inform you that we are under siege, facing famine, genocide, and blockade?
I am Layan, and my three younger siblings and I are suffering from hunger. Who will carry our voice to the world now?
This is our story for anyone with a compassionate heart who wants to help us.💔

Most of these places have older translations for the epics, poems and hymns (with older language), places like Poetry In Translation and https://www.gutenberg.org often have newer translations available for free, though…with a bit of digging most translations even recent ones can be found online :)
Comparing several translations is also good if you want to make any arguments about what a text says without being able to read the text in the original language, does the text really say that or is it just this translation?
It also doesn't hurt to research a little about the author of a work as well to get context for which time and sociopolitical and personal situation they were writing in (it helps to do a quick search into the history of ancient greece too, i.e. epic writers writing during the 7th century BC had different agendas than playwrights of the 5th century during the persian wars, athenians during the conflicts with sparta, or later hellenistic writers after Alexander the Great)
Wikipedia: CAN be used, it's a good starting point, but check the sources cited as much as you can, rather than believing what the page itself says

Final Note
These things should not be gatekept, its time to share them freely
I wish I could offer even more sources via academic books and papers but I fear this would exceed my abilities considering the vastness of the topic of Greek Mythology! But this is a starting point :D Have fun!
Google Scholar has a lot of secondary sources (scholia commentary & theories), books about history, society, politics, flora & fauna, religion, culture, etc. of the time both of history and mythical history…if you have a friend in academia with university access (if you don’t have it yourself) you can ask them to check if they have access to the papers/books otherwise hidden behind insane paywalls, because a LOT of them are available as pdfs!
I also wish I had more visual/audio sources but this is smth I cant change :") I'm sure there's some good videos on youtube out there...somewhere x)
Feel free to contact me if you have more sources you want to add or any links don't work
Here is the Post as DOCs to share outside of tumblr

Watching the first episode of Race to the Edge always makes me a little sad. Because it implies that for three years Hiccup has been feeling lonelier and lonelier. Once he manages to defeat Dagur and stop the rest of the threats (with the help of everybody else), he watches everyone find a purpose, he watches the riders drift apart and find a path of their own. While he can't move on, he can't see a clear path for him. Or rather, he sees one and he's approaching the finish line of it.
He frantically searches for a new dragon, something to discover, something to allow him to hold on to the past. He doesn't want to let go, because the time he spent with the riders defending Berk and finding new dragons was the best period of his life.
Before becoming the leader of the riders he was a runt. He was the screw up. He was the biggest Hiccup in the history of Berk. He was a disappoinment. He was lonely. After the battle against the Red Death everything changed. He finally became someone important. He had friends, the village kind of respected him, his father trusted him, he had everything he always dreamed of.
But then they defeated Dagur, and the screaming death, along with Alvin and all the bad guys, they had nothing keeping them together. Or at least, that's what Hiccups feels.
He can't stop searching, he needs it. He needs to find a new dragon, or a clue, or something. Because if he can't, then he will be alone once again. He will lose everything he worked hard to get.
I think that's also why Dagur manages to trap the riders in a trap. All of them have drifted apart, of course that's part of it, they weren't ready. But Hiccup is distracted. Because part of him sees this as an opportunity to not be alone.
I think it's really sad. Maybe it's just my mind trying to get the maximum amount of angst out of everything I see (not that I complain, honestly).

excuse me for stating the obvious but like. james gunn outright calling superman an immigrant and doubling down on it when he got backlash (because he IS an immigrant, that's the point of superman) + the in-movie dialogue of "aren't you going to read me my rights?" "you're an extraterrestrial, son. you haven't got any rights to read." + the violence of his arrest and how they torture and mistreat him unapologetically, all under the guise of "protecting america", in a film releasing during the onslaught of violent ICE kidnappings and abuse... yeah it's really no wonder right-wing knobheads are crying about this being woke. they're being forced to look directly at the reasons one of the most notorious heroes of all time would not be on their side. and that's only ONE of the reasons this movie covers
