jack wolfe being the personification of wylan van eck is something that can feel so personal to me, like you’re telling me he COMPOSED a piano piece for the show, LEARNED how to play the flute, NAILED every single movement and body language from wylan? it just feels so surreal

I don't care if the Crows spin-off is just the six of them acting it out in Freddy's living room while Freddy's wife films it on a phone, I'm willing to pay real money for the footage.

*through gritted teeth* you are not a child taking a test with the purpose of getting the highest score, you are an adult trying new things and finding ways to enjoy your life, make mistakes, be a beginner, be mediocre, be where you need to be, be unlikeable, just. be.

maybe mediocrity isn’t wrong. maybe you don’t need to be the best at everything you do. maybe you don’t need to be the best at anything you do. it’s ok to simply do things because you enjoy doing them. its ok to not want to advance in your job. nothing has to be a competition. you don’t need to be better than anyone. you can do things just because they’re fun. you don’t need to read up on the history, and know everything about it. its ok to just exist. its ok.

“So, how was your day?”
The words bring a smirk to Alec’s face but he hides it anyways.
He’s been waiting for this.
For Magnus to come to him.
He looks up from his laptop and smiles.
“Yes. Are you ready to talk about what’s been bothering you since the past few weeks.”
Magnus feigns innocence at that.
“What? No. Nothing’s been bothering me.”
Alec lets out a chuckle at that. “Baby. You have that look on your face.”
“What look?”
“It’s the face you make when you want to talk about something but you don’t because you think it might hurt my feelings.” Alec replies easily.
Magnus shouldn’t be surprised by how well Alec knows him by now but some days it still catches him off guard.
It’s quite annoying.
And his husband is right, there’s been something bothering him but Magnus doesn’t know how to start the conversation.
Alec shuts down his laptop and walks towards the kitchen.
He comes back a few minutes later and hands a cup of tea to him and then places a soft kiss on his head.
“I’ll be in the balcony if you need me.”
Magnus’s heart softenes at the gesture.
Alec is opening a window for him—he can either open it and let some air in. Let whatever’s bothering him out in the air.
Or he can close it back too and keep it that way for another few days.
Either option would work for Alec because that’s how he is.
Never pushing Magnus to do things—just always, encouraging him. With love and tenderness.
He mulls over his thoughts for another few minutes before picking up his cup and joining Alec in the balcony.
His back is towards Magnus and he’s leaning against the railing, relaxing in the few moments of peace that they barely get these days.
“What do you think about Idris?“
Alec turns towards him and there’s genuine confusion on his face.
“Idris?”
“Yes. You know Idris and Alicante.” Magnus asks nonchalantly and lounges on the couch in the balcony.
“Whatever’s been bothering you for all this time was related to my thoughts on Idris?” Alec’s lips curls upwards.
He doesn’t gets fazed by Magnus’s incomprehensible thoughts anymore. He could ask Alec the weirdest, most concerning questions at 3 am and his husband would not think anything of it in the slightest.
“Not just you but, Alicante in general. Now that the issue of Clave in exile has been fixed and there’s no more split and you’re the Consul-Consul.”
Alec narrows his eyes at the question, and Magnus knows he’s trying to figure out what the reasoning behind this conversation is.
He humours Magnus nonetheless.
Alec moves towards him and sits on the opposite end but he stretches his legs and places them in Magnus’s lap.
“The past few years have been so stressful Magnus. There were so many moments where I almost wanted to give up.” Alec exhales.
Magnus strokes his thumb against Alec’s ankle in a relaxing motion. He knows firsthand how difficult all of this has been for Alec.
Which is why Magnus hates for what he’s been feeling—for ruining Alec’s victory.
“But you did it, my love. And I am so incredibly proud of you Alexander.” Magnus lifts Alec’s hand and kisses it softly, making the other man blush at the gesture.
He doesn’t want a day to come when Alec stops blushing like that.
“Thank you. I couldn’t have made any of that possible without you. You make me brave.” Alec says tenderly.
Magnus drops his gaze at that. “The boys are excited to go to Idris for the ceremony.”
Alec has a beautiful smile at that. “Yes. I’m so excited to show them around. They have only heard about Alicante in all these years but now they’ll be able to see it.”
He hums at that and doesn’t say anything for quite some time. Then he feels Alec’s fingers lifting his chin upwards, a small frown on his face.
“Baby. What’s going on?”
“I love you. You know that right?” Magnus asks him because he wants Alec to be sure of it before he says what he plans to.
“If I wasn’t as secure in our relationship as I am, I’d be worried this was a breakup conversation.” Alec says jokingly
Magnus rolls his eyes at him.
“Please. If I was breaking up with you, it would be iconic and extremely dramatic.”
Alec grins at that. “Yes, I do remember one fine night like that, almost a decade ago in a subway tunnel.”
Magnus throws Alec’s legs from his lap and smacks his shoulders. “Not funny.”
His husband lets out a laugh and leans closer towards him.
“Okay now, stop deflecting and tell me what’s going on.”
Magnus takes a deep breath.
“I don’t want to go to Alicante.”
Alec frowns at that.
“For the ceremony?”
Magnus shakes his head at that. “The ceremony is for you, I wouldn’t dream of missing it. I want to hold your hand and kiss you when everyone’s celebrating this but—“
“But what?”
“The Consul of the Clave lives in Alicante.”
Alec nods at that.
“Alexander, I’ll come for the ceremony. This one and the next hundred ones but I can’t—“
“You don’t want to live in Alicante.” Alec finishes his sentence.
Magnus nods. “Yes.”
He’s waiting for an awkward silence but it never comes.
Alec answers instantly. “Okay.”
Magnus lifts his head up at that. “Okay?”
“Yeah. Okay.”
It seems easy but Magnus doesn’t like easy things so he pushes.
“Darling, you don’t have to be okay with this. You can be mad at me if you want.” Magnus adds, even though he would absolutely hate it if Alec was mad at him about this.
“Do I look mad to you?”
He blinks and peers at the shadowhunter properly.
He doesn’t look mad.
He looks like—well he looks like Alec always does.
Calm and steady and soft.
“You’re not mad that I don’t want to live in Alicante with you.” He narrows his eyes.
Alec gives him a small smile at that. “Is there someone else you’re planning to live in Alicante with?”
Magnus shakes his head frantically at that.
“Then I’m not the problem. Alicante is, right?” Alec says simply.
He says it so simply, and maybe it was that simple. Magnus doesn’t want to live in Alicante and it has nothing to do with Alec.
“Baby, I always knew you wouldn’t want to live in Idris.” Alec tucks a strand on stray hair behind his ears gently and pulls Magnus closer to him.
“You did?” He asks. “Why didn’t you say anything before?”
Alec huffs at that. “Well you didn’t either. It wasn’t a problem back when the Clave was in exile.”
Magnus puts a hand on the back of Alec’s neck.
“But it’s different now, right? Now, you have the chance to live in the angel city. It’s every shadowhunters’ dream.”
He has lived long enough to know how supreme importance the shadowhunter race gives to Alicante.
It’s where everyone dreams of working—of living.
It feels wrong to steal that dream from Alec.
Alec holds his face in his hands and brings their noses together. “A city where my Magnus doesn’t feel safe and happy isn’t a place I ever want to live in.”
Magnus sighs and relaxes into Alec’s hold. “I know things are changing now and getting better. But there’s still a long history of hate that I have faced myself. I wouldn’t be happy there. I wouldn’t feel the boys are ever safe there—specially Max.”
He believes that he would do anything to make Alec happy but there are some lines that Magnus would never cross—even for love.
Even for Alec.
Or he would lose himself completely.
“Hey.”
Magnus opens his eyes and finds himself getting lost in Alec’s gorgeous face.
“I know the man I love. You stand for what’s right and wrong, no matter what. You wouldn’t marry me unless the law was changed and I knew even then that it wasn’t about me.” Alec says tenderly and kisses his cheeks. “Just because you married a shadowhunter, doesn’t mean you have to forget who you are.”
“You always know the right things to say, don’t you?” Magnus points out fondly, because he’s feeling a little too overwhelmed by how much Alec sees him.
“I’m just being honest baby.” Alec remarks and Magnus pulls him against him so that Alec is straddling his thighs.
“You don’t think it’ll be an issue right?” He asks because he doesn’t want his husband to deal with anymore difficulties.
He knows that it’s impossible.
Shadowhunters invited trouble.
But he could try.
Alec rubs his shoulders gently. “It’s not mandatory for Consuls to live in Idris.” His husband replies. “And if it is, I’ll deal with it. In case you missed it, I’ve always been kind of a rebel you know? Kissing a downworlder publicly is still considered the biggest clave scandal.”
A peal of laughter leaves Magnus’s body at his words.
“Are you okay now?”
Magnus nods slightly. It was impossible not to be okay when he was around Alec.
His hand moves inside Alec’s shirt and he runs a hand across his back gently.
“Does it ever get tiring?”
“What does?”
“Waiting for me to come to you. When I get much too into my head?”
Alec leans forward and kisses Magnus’s temple. “It’s quite annoying. But you’re plenty cute too, so it kind of compensates.”
Magnus shakes his head affectionately at the idiotic man infront of him.
He strokes Alec’s face and traces a finger across his face, making the shadowhunter blush profusely.
“I forgot for a second.”
“What?”
“That my home is so much more beautiful than any angel city.” Magnus whispers in the small space between the two of them.
Alec’s lips curls upwards at that.
A bashful smile on his face and Magnus falls in love with him all over again.
“You talking about Brooklyn?”
Magnus mirrors his smile because they both knew his following words already.
“I’m talking about you.”
Prompt: Brooklyn
I don’t see Magnus ever living in Idris no matter what.

Alec enters the loft and sighs tiredly. He puts his weapons on the rack next to the door and strolls inside towards the living room.
He runs his hands through his hair in frustration, knowing that he’s late home again and that everyone was probably already asleep.
It’s been happening a lot recently and Alec hates not being able to find time for his family.
He finds Magnus sleeping on the couch, Rafael cuddled against his chest while Max lays with Chairman in his arms.
The sight automatically releases all the tension from his body and his lips curl upwards.
Sometimes the boys stay up late waiting for him. It makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Alec bends down and scratches Chairman behind his ear and the cat takes the opportunity to escape Max’s hold and runs inside the room. He picks up Max in his arms and takes him to his bed.
“Night, Blue.” Alec kisses his forehead softly, mindful of his horns and goes back outside to get Rafael.
Magnus starts shuffling slightly as he tries to get Rafael out of his hold.
The boy clings to him tightly and rests his head on Alec’s shoulder. He blinks when Alec puts him to bed.
“Daddy?”
Alec tucks his curls behind his ears and smiles at him. “Hi, buddy.”
“You’re late again.” Rafael mumbles in his sleep and shift closer to him.
“I know. I’m sorry.” Alec returns a slightly sad smile.
“Bapak says sometimes sorry isn’t enough.” Rafael states. “You need actions.”
Alec chuckles lightly at that. “Alright. How do you want me to apologise?”
Rafael doesn’t even think before replying. “Ice cream?”
He shakes his head fondly at the little menace. “I see, Bapak’s teaching you all kinds of things behind my back.”
“Only the right things”, Magnus says and Alec turns to see the perfectly innocent smile on his face. “Ice cream does cure everything.”
They are menaces and Alec wouldn’t trade this for the world.
“Alright. I will apologise properly with ice cream tomorrow. But it’s way past your bed time so you need to sleep now.” Alec covers Rafael with the comforter.
His son gives him a binding smile. “Okay. Goodnight daddy. Goodnight Bapak.”
Magnus sends a flying kiss to him. “Night, sweetheart.”
Alec lingers in the room for another five minutes, just looking at his son before leaving the room.
“Hi.”
He crosses the distance in three steps and falls against Magnus’s strong chest.
“Hi.”
Magnus wraps his arms around and starts rubbing his back gently.
“I’m sorry.”
“Why?”
Alec hides his face in the crook of Magnus’s neck and murmurs. “I’m late again.”
His husband pulls back slightly and holds his face in his hands and—Alec can feel the coldness from the rings but he melts into the touch regardless. “It’s alright, darling. I know things have been stressful lately. The boys understand.”
He doesn’t want his boys to understand the dangerous realities of their world. He wants Rafael and Max to be annoying and insufferable like they are most of the time.
Alec wants them to be kids for as long as they want. He doesn’t want them to grow up the way he had to.
He huffs lightly. “This is all your fault.”
“How?”
“You should’ve stopped me from becoming the Consul.”
Magnus snorts at that. “Hmmm. A grave error in my judgement. And what would you have done if not become the Consul?”
Alec thinks for a second. “I would’ve made a great house-husband.”
His husband laughs and closes the remaining distance to bring their mouths together. “There’s still time to quit.”
He doesn’t reply to that, too busy slipping his tongue inside Magnus’s mouth and tasting him, running his hands in the other man’s hair.
His traitorous stomach grumbles then and Alec knows he’s going to get a lecture.
“Have you not eaten anything?”
He returns a sheepish smile. “I was busy.”
“Alexander!”
Alec kisses him to shut him up and he feels Magnus relax into it. “I know what you’re trying to do.”
“Is it working?” He murmurs.
Magnus rolls his eyes at him. “What do you think?”
Alec grins at him. “You’re weak Bane.”
“Shut up.” Magnus remarks and finally pulls back. “Okay what do you want to eat? Thai food from that place next lane? Or some pasta?”
He thinks for a second. He’s not really hungry but he knows that Magnus will not let him sleep without eating.
“Will you make your special grilled cheese sandwiches for me?” He puckers his lips.
Magnus raises an eyebrow at him. “You want me to cook?”
“Yes.”
“You want your gorgeous husband to cook for you at 2 am instead of summoning food which would be so much easier?”
Alec nods again. “Yep.”
“You used to be nice like five years ago. I want that Alec back, not this one who’s making me work in the middle of the night.“
Alec wraps his arms around Magnus’s neck and chuckles. “Come on. You make the best sandwiches.”
“I feel like you have some ulterior motive here.” Magnus remarks suspiciously.
He kisses Magnus’s cheeks. “Fine. If you summon food, it’ll be here in three seconds and then I’ll be too full and go to sleep.” He points out. “But making sandwiches will take you atleast half an hour since you’ll be dancing and singing in between. I just want to spend some time with you. I feel like I haven’t really seen you in the past two weeks.”
Magnus’s eyes soften immediately and he pulls him again for a lingering kiss. “You’re so full of shit Alexander.“
“What?” He chuckles.
“You know being sappy always gets you everything from me. Stop being cute at 2 am.”
“Is that a yes?” He asks cheekily.
“Everyone thinks all the pouting and blackmail, the boys have learnt from me. But it’s all you, Alexander.” Magnus announces.
And well, it’s kind of true.
Alec has mastered the art of pouting in the past few years.
He just shrugs his shoulders in response.
“Go change and come to the kitchen.”
He pushes one hand up in the air in victory and Magnus snorts at that.
“Dork.”
Alec takes a quick shower and walks back to the kitchen, smiling automatically as he notices the soft music playing in the room.
Magnus doesn’t need any devices to listen to music but he still likes playing songs on the vinyl.
He sits on the seat infront of the counter and stares at Magnus.
“You’re just going to sit there and stare at me.“
“Yep.”
“You’re not going to help me at all?” Magnus turns and asks.
“Nope. I like the view from here.” Alec says ogling his husband’s ass.
“I married a ridiculous man.”
“Hmmm. You can’t get out of it now.”
“Who says I can’t?” Magnus starts swaying to the music.
“I made marriage between shadowhunters and downworlders legal, baby. I can pass another law that criminalises divorce.” Alec announces.
Magnus turns and there’s so much fond exasperation on his face.
“You would force people to stay in marriages just for your own personal gain?” His husband chuckles.
“To keep you stuck with me forever? Definitely.” He replies.
Magnus picks up some cilantro from nearby and throws it at his face. “You are so full of shit.”
“I’m just being honest, baby.” He states. “Sorry but you’ll have to stay in this marriage forever.”
The warlock slides the sandwich on a plate and puts it infront of Alec. “Sounds horrible but you’re right. The law is hard but it is the law.” He grins at him.
“Exactly.”
Magnus rolls his eyes affectionately at him. He leans over the counter to kiss him again. “Stop talking shit and eat your sandwich.”
-If you think Alec wouldn’t pass an anti-divorce law just to keep Magnus stuck with him forever, you are wrong Sir.

Clary: What if I press the brake and gas at the same time?
Jace: The car takes a screenshot.
Simon: For the last time, get the fuck out
Alec: What do you think Jace will do for a distraction?
Isabelle: He'll probably, like, make a noise or throw a rock. That’s what I would do.
*Building explodes and several car alarms go off* Isabelle: ... or they could do that.
Alec: If you had to choose between Jace and all the money I have in my wallet, which would you choose?
Isabelle: That depends, how much money are we taking about?
Jace: Isabelle!
Alec: 63 cents.
Isabelle: I'll take the money.
Jace: ISABELLE!!!
Alec: Are you the big spoon or the little spoon?
Jace: I'm a knife.
Isabelle, from across the room: Hes the little spoon
Simon: Do you have any skeletons in your closet?
Isabelle: You mean literally or figuratively?
Simon: Honestly, the fact that I have to specify...
Alec: What is your biggest weakness?
Magnus: I can be uncooperative.
Alec: Okay, can you give me an example?
Magnus: No.
Alec: Ok, maybe playing ‘whose family is most dysfunctional’ wasn’t the best idea we’ve had. Magnus's been crying in the bathroom for an hour. We can’t get him out...
Alec: Magnus... Why did you draw a pentagram on the floor?
Magnus: Your text told me to satanize the house before you returned.
Alec:
Alec: I wrote sanitize, Magnus.
