On This Day 2 Years Ago myself, @babyjbiz & @thesystemdontworkrecords Released Our Critically Acclaimed Full Length LP “21st Century Blues” to The World. This project started in the early days of the Covid 19 Pandemic when the world was still figuring out the “new normal” and the extent of the lockdown wasn’t fully realized. Baby J, who I’ve worked with more than a decade ago during my A-Alike’s days, came to me with the idea of doing a project with each of us working remotely on either side of the Atlantic. I told him “let’s do it but whatever we do I want to put this thing on vinyl lol”and went all in. We started with him sending me the beat to our first song “Rona”, I wrote my lyrics, laid them down in my studio here in Miami and after listening back to a ruff mix we knew we had something that would resonate with like minds and something that we would be excited to share with the world. The process of creating the album was pure joy. To reconnect with my homie and long time collaborator Baby J, the time spent writing, conceptualizing, recording, the daily story posts sharing of my progress spitting half done songs on the Gram, designing album art, shooting diy guerilla visuals, all of it. As the individual songs went from a collection of songs to an actual album we realized we had something special and that we wanted to make this the first of a series of projects as opposed to just a stand alone one-off. In the time since we dropped the album so much has gone on in the world and in our lives personally. The overwhelming support that we got from friends, fans, press, etc, all the people that purchased the vinyl records, the apparel line that was started & inspired by the design system of our album art, everyone who’s bought a item of clothing, all the conversations that were sparked from this project, etc etc.. just want to say thank you sincerely and stay tuned for this next album which we are currently in the process of mixing.
