Sanatorio de Abona to miasteczko zbudowane w 1943 roku w celu izolacji trędowatych, na tyle duże że miało własną szkołę, szpital, kościół a nawet krematorium (!). Ostatecznie nikt w nim nie zamieszkał bo dwa lata później wynaleziono skuteczny lek na trąd.
