the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself

I am a grown ass adult and I still get nausea when I feel like I'm in trouble. They're gonna send me to the principals office and take away my toys for a week. Can you just fucking kill me instead of making me stew in my fucking anxiety

No for real because I was thinking the entire time after finishing Carmilla why did she not kill the General (the only witness, the one who has SEEN her true identity and nature) both times he assaulted her, despite the fact that she effortlessly kicked his ass twice and was invulnerable to his attacks

-he has zero protection guarding him against vampire attacks on himself (unlike the Dracula Attack team that gangs up on him very strategically and while wearing crucifixes and garlic flowers)

-she turns into a huge black cat, and a ghostly shadow wraith of hell

-he cannot wound her when he tries and his sword shatters against her

-she has powers making everyone unable to see where she has gone

-her reflexes are cat-like, dodging his surprise attack

-she's able to block (a military man's) attack with one hand, forcing him to drop his axe

-tosses him aside like a mosquito leaving him trembling and pissing himself

-her grip destroys his nerves making his hand numb forever

And both times she prefers running away and letting him live to spill everything about her instead of killing him? Okay

i feel like a version of the story where carmilla DOES fight back could be rlly interesting, but idk i feel like theres a tragedy in how little she tries to defend herself.

shes portrayed as having sm guilt surrounding her nature and what shes been turned into, i actually wouldnt be surprised if she can't bring herself to kill the person whos her biggest threat, or kill anyone outside of the context of drinking their blood (which is smth she HAS to do to survive).

you gotta keep in mind that she was abt lauras age when she got turned. she never gets to grow up from that. she never gets to escape this. maybe somewhere, in the back of her mind, she was hoping this would be how it ends. or maybe she was just REALLY really sleepy when they opened her coffin to kill her

all that being said i would absolutely love a version where carmilla goes batshit crazy and kills the general herself heart eyeeeeessssssss ❤️❤️ maybe in this version she gets away, or laura is forced to be the one to kill her bc shes the only one carmilla wont touch.
