His teeth closed around Q’s ear and tugged ever so slightly. Q groaned, eyes slipping closed.

“Y–Yes. I hate you even more.”

“Liar,” he said.

has a sudden vision of a scene in which Bond comes back from a mission & lovingly strips Q of all of his clothing (Q allows this- it is part of a ritual they do),

and then Q strips Bond, and then they crawl into bed together and Bond just lays there with his head on top of Q's chest-

just cuddling, laying there to indulge and revel in the simple complexity of skin to skin contact; warming each other up at every point of contact ( a sort of slow-release theme and variation of (re)affirming that *you're* (still) alive, that *he's* alive- ); allowing their respective scents to (re)mingle together ( we know each other (still), and you belong to(with) me, and I to you, *we* belong together, we fit together, and although one of us has taken a journey that has perhaps further changed us in some fundamental way, we (can) fit together, still ); Bond with his ear against Q's heart just listening to the steady tempo of his steadfast heartbeat ( even off-mission- Q as the unfaltering steady (steadying) presence in his ear ).

I like aesthetic edits so I thought I’d do something similar. I’ll do better next time, more detail. I like drawing partial images.

BAHHHH I love this this is something I think about a LOT. I love when fics have him referred to as “agent / 007 / bond” and never just James until like. An incident that humanizes him.

Like it takes a physical act or request for people to see him as James and it usually comes at his own detriment. It’s like a sacrifice.

I wonder how many people in Bond's life have ever actually known him as James.

Not like, calling him James now and then to get his attention more strongly. I mean calling him James all the time without any sense of it being a weird subversion of expectations.

And of course beyond what they actually refer to him as, how many people know him in a personal capacity rather than a professional one? Does he have any old school friends from Eton or Fettes still hanging around at the fringes sending him Hogmanay party invitations? Someone he knew at Cambridge sending birthday cards or updates about their family? Random drinking buddies?

What do they call him?

Or is it the people he works with but chooses whenever he's going off the books that are actually closest to the real James under the 007 mask? M and Felix Leiter and Tanner and Eve and Mallory and Q?

Or is it the lovers? Vesper (and Eve if you think they fucked in Macau which I definitely do) and Madeleine (and Q of course). Some unknown lover he met outside of work?

In private, when they want to talk to *him* and not the mask, what do they call him?

Hello!!!! I’ve been quite busy but the first three chapters are out! Here is a snippet of the one I published a couple minutes ago:

“Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Bond, James Bond.” He held up a badge.

Q reached haphazardly into his satchel. He hadn’t expected this and he felt Bond and the official’s eyes on him as he felt around in the depths of his bag.

“Right, sorry. One second,” he felt his wallet. “Q. Er, Q.”

The official stared at him.

“No, really. It’s just ‘Q’, check the badge.”

I am once again thinking of how extremely cool and sexy it would've been for Q to personally kill someone in order to protect Bond.

Yes because Q is like packrat but Methodical - he’s lining the trinkets up, he’s dusting between them, the messy books are intentionally balanced. Everything is everywhere but it’s in its right place …

Bond however is like. Guy Whose Suitcase Exploded When He Unpacked At the Hotel. Boom, socks, Knick knacks, books, collector special voyage spoons, cool pen another cool pen another cool pen another –

And maybe Q doesn’t notice this trait until he’s bringing Bond coffee in bed after MONTHS of living together and suddenly has NOWHERE to put it because this man has covered all available surface area with his belongings. And Bond’s like “just place it anywhere��.

In some little oddity shop:

“You cannot buy that, Bond! You have to organise your bedside drawer before you buy that! I mean it!”

“I have a spot for it.”

“I know you don’t mean on one of my shelves.”

WAIT just had a really fun/funny thought

okay you know how it's like, a common trope and/or fanon that Q is kind of a packrat & has a lot of trinkets & tchotchkes and whatever, meanwhile Bond is the sad empty blank slate flat guy?

What if tho. What if it's like. Bond is that. but only incidentally. Like, he is like that cuz he's on the road all the time & never around his own flat, and also the stuff he has tends to get churned & burned thru just as collateral from his lifestyle.

But what if, after he gets together with Q/moves in with Q/simply annexes space in Q's life and flat while not formally together. What if, now that he has, like, a permanent place for stuff to accumulate. He becomes like a packrat slash sad hoarder situation, but purely incidentally. Like maybe he's used to collecting stuff, but he's also used to *losing* said stuff, so it all sorts of evens out. Except now uhhhhhh oops! He has a permanent place for which the stuff to collect. The metaphoric river of his life may have previously kept the water and debris flowing, but surprise! there is now a beaver dam in place, and the stuff that would have been carried off & away before is now... accumulating....

At some point it's gonna get so bad that Q is going to have to stage an intervention lmao

And if I did a memory loss fic? What then. What then?

"he would not fucking say that" any time Q is written using an iPhone or other Apple product. Or saying anything nice about Teslas ("car"). Or god forbid, having an Alexa. Him having a complex AI system is on thin ice but I can somewhat suspend disbelief if it's his own designed AI and, like, fairly contained. Or plot-relevant.

However,. he should always have and create little robot Creatures. It is always correct to have him have little robot friends who have specific functions and personalities and names. In these cases AI is always okay.
