Guns
Glock has some great handguns, but for me there is a catch. I love the feel of a full size gun. This is why my EDC, for a long while, was a Glock 17. And when I carried it, I took advantage of TALON grips, which were the best ones for me.
No matter if you are new to shooting or a seasoned veteran, Glock’s are still one of your best bets. They have been consistantly popular for over 30 years. In terms of firearms manufacturers, it is not that much time, but the impact Glock has had on the firearms industry is substantial. Indeed, you can’t go to a gun store without running into Glock and its accessories. Some of its accessories are made by Glock itself, and some are made by other companies. One of the advantages to owning a Glock is that you can usually find what you are looking for, at any standard shop, online or offline.
Pistol grips, like the TALON, are essential for some shooters. When you are firing that weapon - whether in training or in an emergency situation - your hands could be sweaty, dirty, wet, or otherwise compromised. You want to get a tight and solid grip on your gun, because followup shots are counting on your ability to remain stable and balanced.
There are those who choose to invest in a ready made grip like TALON, Robar, or Bowie. Others go for the DIY method, which is also a good option, and use an bicycle’s inner tube and a hot air hair drier. And then, there are those who like their jobs to be customized, and who take their weapons in, to be taken care of professionally. With stippled grips you can get very creative, and that is also a fine advantage. It makes it much more personal. The closer you get to your firearms; the more familiar you are with it; the more you train with it; the better off you will be in an emergency situation.
But not everyone shares my view. Some people pick up their Glock handgun, and see no need for an addition of any kind. Out of the box, Glock really is a great gun, and if you choose to add something afterwards - go for it. Depending on the model and generation of Glock you are holding, the grip may be a perfect fit. You may not require anything else, so don’t go investing in something you do not require. That is pretty foolish. Give it some time, and if you feel that you do need one after some target practice, drawing and holstering, etc. - then do it. It can’t hurt, and it is fairly inexpensive, no matter what method you use. More at Gunivore
Nobody’s opinion but yours matters. This is the golden rule of accessorizing. If you feel it can be of use to you, and advance your skills, then nobody else matters. It is your gun, your hands, and your experience, so you need to be sure that you are getting the most out of it.
