The End to a New Beginning!

Hey guys, the time has come and we are finally ready for you to see the beginning stages of our hyperlocal news site Hunt County Buzz! This site has been in the works the past couple of months and has been based off of evaluations of other hyperlocal sites such as “Tap Into New Providence”. Hunt County Buzz will serve as an informative, fun, guide to all your local new and events. We have tabs to help you navigate through our site such as Home, Commerce Close-Up, Lion’s Den, and About. 

To help keep this website alive and running we need the support of you. Spread the word about and up and coming blog geared to helping spread local news published by Texas A&M University-Commerce Mass Media Journalism department. I enjoyed my time with you all semester but this is not the end but the beginning of something new!

Well this dream day can be true with the help from you.The Hunt County area is getting their very own hyperlocal news site, Hunt County Buzz this fall. Hunt County Buzz is here to help you stay up to date about events, news, and exciting developments throughout town. 

Much like the hyperlocal site I'm reviewing now,Tap Into New Providence, Hunt County Buzz will feature any articles,vlogs, and other content that will cater to you. 

In order of us to get Hunt County Buzz running and stay running, we need you to play an important role within our community. Spread the news about the Hunt County Buzz, Follow us on social media, and check out our site everyday!

Friends+Me Review

Friends+Me is a social media management tool that lets you repost your Google+ shares and posts to other social sites such as Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and LinkedIn.  Alois Belaska, the company founder was a full stack developer who launched Friends+Me after he began using Google+ and other social media. Friends+Me lets you control how your post look and schedule your post. You can publish your post at the time you want and improve your engagement with your audience. The scheduling feature allows you to publish post for your audience of a different time zone across the world. 

Friends+Me features mobile app, team support, Bulk schedule, link shortening, and draft support.  The social tool supports devices such as windows, Linux, iPhone/iPad, and Mac. Friends+Me caters to small, medium, large and freelance businesses. Prices vary for this social media tool from free and monthly payments. The free plan includes two queue(Social sites where you want to publish). Other plans increase in price as well as queues. 

I believe Friends+Me is a good site to use for a starter hyperlocal news-site. With the free plan you can post to two queues which is good if you are starting off. This social media site is easy to use and takes only up to a few minutes to publish your content. I believe if your a Google+ user and want a social media tool thats easy to navigate then Friends+Me is for you!

Tap Into New Providence

Performing Arts School Recognizes Graduating Seniors 

In Berkeley Heights, Wharton Institute for Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts recognized 15 graduating Senior Night at the Performing Arts School.  Eight students performed for the event and seven seniors were unable to attend the event. Student services Manager Kristen Wuest, who organized the event says it’s important to recognize the commitment and dedication the seniors have demonstrated throughout the years. 

The performing arts institute mission is to provide the highest quality arts education to a range of students.  As New Jersey’s largest independent non-profit community performing arts institute, Wharton serves over 1,400 students through a variety of classes with 14 ensembles of the New Jersey Youth Symphony. Wharton provides private lessons, group classes and ensembles for all ages and abilities.

Tap Into New Providence

Good Morning, 

I am Lauryn Harris, a student involved in developing a possible hyperlocal news site operated by the Mass Media & Journalism at A&M-Commerce. I will be blogging about a hyperlocal site titled “Tap Into New Providence”. Tap into New Providence is your friendly neighborhood site dishing out on all the latest news surrounding New Providence, NJ.  Others on my team will be blogging about various area around the U.S. as well. 

“Tap into New Providence” is an hyperlocal news site targeted for adults 25-44.They focus different stories around the community from Special Olympics Law enforcement Torch Run to NPHS Annual College Signing Night. The site has many informative advertisements such as Jerseys Fine Wine and Atlantic Health Care System. The front page carries stories that are nice to know about and good local conversation starters. This blog will be a regular review and evaluation of a hyperlocal site as part of learning more about hyperlocal news. This experience will help us do the best possible job at serving our community and local audience with our planned but unnamed site.
