I Miss You When I Blink by Mary Laura Philpott
.🌟
.🌟
"I miss you when I blink. I have felt it so many times in my life, at points where I didn't really know who I was anymore, where I felt that when I closed my eyes, I could feel myself gone." As a wife, mother, entrepreneur and everything to everyone else, I can say that I felt this and I can relate.
I think at some point in life we all get a little lost and maybe feel a little overwhelmed and that’s ok. What’s not ok is staying lost. It’s ok to need a support system or need to speak with someone.
I’ve wandered around parking lots looking for my car pressing the panic button on my set of keys... so this book, all of this book I get it.
It’s ok to walk away from some things, persons and places. It’s just ok to do so and not owe anyone any explanation. This book embodies perfectly why we must set boundaries and practice self care on a continuous basis.
The author Mary Laura Philpott has perfectly written what we all have thought and how we have felt at some moment in time. Mary, you’ve captured “life” perfectly. You weren’t alone then and you aren’t alone now.
This 📖 book has meaning. This book is a must read.

📚 Review
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
.
.
With the Fire on High is a story that is based on the life of a young teenage girl Emoni, as she navigates through high school after becoming a teenage mother at the age of 14 years old. She has spent her life being raised by her paternal grandmother, after her mother dies during childbirth and her father couldn’t bare to raise her alone while dealing with the loss of his love, his companion, her mother.
The story is based in Philly and follows the life of Emoni Santiago, her love of cooking and undeniable magical senses with herbs and spices.
Although, I wasn’t a teenage mother I can relate to the emotions and thoughts that Emoni has with being a mother and wanting to make the best decisions when it comes to your children and life. I really enjoyed how she evolved from not being quite sure to knowing exactly what she wants to do and the order in which how to go about it. She learns to embrace her truth and realizes that not everyone’s journey takes the same path.
This 📖 book has been one of my favorite reads.
