I’ve noticed there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding these two guys.

On the left we have a Thelyphonida, also known as a vinegaroon or sometimes whip scorpion. These guys are much closer in their makeup to a scorpion or a lobster but they don’t sting or pinch. Their only defense mechanism is spraying vinegar on predators.

On the right we have a Amblypygi, also known as a whip spider or a tailless whip scorpion. He’s completely genetically distinct from our guy on the left, even though they have very similar names. The tailless whip scorpion is a little closer to spiders in their makeup, and they do not have the tail flagellum that scorpions and vinegaroons have, and thus they are “tailless”. These guys don’t spray vinegar, relying more on just being solitary to avoid predators.

The fleeting dream has passed away. The dawn has risen and in so doing has cast out the stars of night and the marks of boops past. Was there ever a paw at my temple? Did ever a mutual bap mine eyes? No, say the bruises which have vanished with the night. No, as my heart in the healing does cry.

Still,

Still there is a memory of that feeling once I had. Still there is a hope that once again I may be bapped.

Not A Cat
