Anyway the reason I can't stop thinking about Daring and Brooke as friends is because of how intricately their lives are woven into reflections and the servitude of others. Daring as. A prince charming is built for self-sacrifice in the name of one other person and Brooke as a narrator exists to only talk about other people she has little to no interaction with. Outside the context of the stories they're shunted out of, who are they as people? They both adore the world they're in and the people in it and will do anything for those they care about, even if it breaks the rules, and just desperately want to see a bright future for all. They're existentially lonely on unimaginable scales and both deal with it differently, but have their identities assured by those around them. Imagine what would happen if you put them together? The girl behind a mirror, forever to shine a spotlight on everyone else but her, and the guy who never stops holding one, for the fear of his own irrelevancy means he has to shine this light or nobody else will. Imagine what would happen if you took the loyalest people around, those who Need others to witness them in order to exist, and made them friends. Wouldn't they take comfort in someone so like them but so different? Wouldn't Daring so easily adopt her as another sister? Wouldn't she jump at the chance to write her own story too? Besides Brooke can canonically exist behind mirrors anyway who's to say Daring couldn't have met her while trapped right? Anyway so for my au where they go on an adventure together they-

average yuri is doomed from the start actually statistical error. average yuri is not doomed at all. Doomed Georgs, who were born on opposing sides and have 10,000 obstacles in their way were outliers adn should not have been counted.
the average yuri is doomed from the start because they come from two completely different worlds, where one has been scorned all their life for something they can't control, and only reach total self-gratification when they learn to embrace it, while the other has been praised their whole life for being good and pure and have had everything they think they want handed to them on a silver platter, to the point where if they don't get what they want they genuinely don't know how to handle it, and most likely end up shutting down

Doodles of Lydia's parents and siblings.
Alexander and Helen's destinies were quite simple: They were nobles robbed by the last generation's Robin Hood. After this, they became much more humble and kind, making sure to spare no expense in caring for others. Perhaps this is why their parenting style was so relaxed and focused on their children's happiness. Unfortunately, this did cause their children to be quite adverse to going out of their comfort zone. Their two younger daughters, especially, are quite spoiled.
Lorne's destiny, too, is minor, being one of the king's men that fails to put this generation's Humpty Dumpty back together again. Because of this, he is one of the royal guard's knights, and is quite good at his job. Even though it's minor, his destiny being to fail at a task weighs on him, and he feels as if he has to work even harder to make up for that. In personality, he's quite cold, and prone to outbursts if provoked. That being said, he follows the code of chilvary, and believes strongly in protecting the weak, making him quite protective of his family, and especially Lorraine. Lydia has looked up to her older brother since she was little, and thinks the world of him, believing him to be the epitome of what a knight is. That admiration is what led her to become the way she was today.
Lorraine is nearly Lydia's polar opposite, excelling splendidly in all areas a princess should, and being uninterested in activities lile swordplay. She places a lot of important on grace and poise, and has excellent etiquette, but her actual personality is just what you would expect of a spoiled little girl. Her dream destiny is to be a Princess Charming to a wonderful prince, but only time will tell. Despite their differences, Lydia and Lorraine are very close, though they bicker often. When an actual fight breaks out, it's usually quickly resolved by Lydia conceding to her younger sister. Lorraine loves her older siblings, and feels very happy about having two knights on standby.
Despite all the children turning out quite spoiled, it is something that is only a problem at home. When talking to others, all of the siblings put on their best faces and act maturely, unless provoked to anger. They have also inherited their parents' kind nature, trying to help others as much as possible (even if they think *their* way of helping is the only good one).

Is there any fanfic where it's confirmed that Dexter's destiny is to be the Good King and Raven spirals because she doesn't know if their feelings are genuine or controlled by destiny? I've had the idea in the back of my mind and would really like to read it

OC stuff below
Oh, Darling and Lydia. Darling envies Lydia. How could she not? Her whole life, she had been taught a Princess Charming is to be seen, and not heard, and had adapted, but Lydia never had to. Lydia's parents allowed Lydia much more freedom than Darling's did. Her whole life, she had believed hiding herself from the world was expected, and accepted it, but then one day, Lydia walked in, as if to tell her "It was all for nothing. You could have been yourself all along.". And she reached out to her, of course Darling reached out to Lydia, because Lydia was everything Darling had wished she could be.
Lydia (after finding out about Darling's knight activities) envies Darling, how could she not? She was just as competent of a fighter as herself, if not more, and still knew how to act like a proper princess. Still had learned. Lydia held onto chilvary as a guidebook, while Darling embodied it. Darling is both a perfect princess and a perfect knight, while Lydia feels like a half of both. And she was happy when Darling reached out to her, of course she was, because despite not knowing how similar Darling was to her at that point, she still felt that Darling was the only "Royal" that truly didn't judge her for being herself.

I love Duchess and Maddie so so much, especially in relation to each other. Duchess is, officially, a Royal: one who believes that everyone should follow their destiny. Except she doesn't want to follow her destiny, because *who* would? When everyone else around you seems to have a happily ever after or at least a decent life, and yours ends in tragedy? So she sabotages other girls to take their destinies, not because she wants *their* destinies, specifically, but any happy ending. In contrast, Maddie is a Rebel, but she is not only completely content with her destiny, she is extremely excited about it. Not only that, in contrast to Duchess' bitterness, she's extremely sweet and understanding. Her *best friend* is the daughter of the woman who cursed her home. I think it's very easy to interpret Maddie's being a rebel as just an extension of her liking things that go against the grain, and that's also true, but it's also because Maddie is an extremely loving person who doesn't want anyone to go through things they don't want to go through — despite her positivity, she's still a teenage girl who has lost her home and possibly her friends (before wtw anyways) — because she knows what it's like.
I just rambled and maybe this doesn't make sense to anyone else but me but I like seeing them as each other's foil so much. They both deserve the entire world and more.

Below the cut is me rambling about how I view the tale of The Princess and the Frog in Ever After High, more specifically, how I fit Iron Henry into it, and how that affects my OC, Lydia.
Alright, so in the original Grimm's tale of The Princess and the Frog (here if you want to read it), there is no true love's kiss that removes the curse. The prince turns back into a human after the princess — who didn't even want to take him into her home — throws him at the wall out of disgust and anger when he tries to sleep in her bed with her. After he becomes human again, a carriage shows up to take him and the princess to his kingdom, and, along with the carriage, his faithful servant, Henry. Henry was so heartbroken by the prince's curse that he had to place three iron bands around his heart to keep it from bursting out of grief and sadness. However, once the prince was human and happy again, the bands broke one by one. Now this is where what is in the tale stops, and my own interpretation begins. I choose to see that as his heart being filled with so much joy, a feeling stronger than he had ever had before, that it burst the iron bands. I also see the bands as something that made him numb — not only to pain, but to all other feelings — during the period they were around his heart.
And now is the part where this affects Ever After High. The heir to Henry's fate, his daughter, fell in love with her prince and could not accept the idea of the one she loved having to go through his destiny — being lied to, rejected, treated like an obligation, being seen as disgusting, then physically hurt — so she decided to steal him away as a frog, as she believed it would be better for him to live as a frog than to go through the pain. After stealing him away before he could experience cruelty, she gave him a kiss as a simple show of affection, and unexpectedly, it healed the curse and made him human again, and it also broke the iron bands around her heart. From that point on, the fairytale shifted, and this version of events, where true love's kiss was what fixed the curse, became what the heirs followed. An unintended side effect of this shift, however, was that the destined princesses were now born with the three bands around their hearts.
Nowadays, in Ever After, the original story is long forgotten, and so is Henry's curse — no one is aware that the princesses are born like this. Because of the curse, Lydia does not feel as strongly as others do, though it's not an issue of emotional range, purely intensity. Because of this, she has always had a hard time understanding and empathizing with others, relying often on the code of chivalry to decide on how to act. This also means that as the bands break, she'll start feeling in a much more intense way, which will result in much confusion and adaptation for her. Her first band was broken with the surprise and joy of receiving the letter appointing her as the princess of her tale, leaving two more bands to break.

Lydia Charming
Age: 17
Story: The Princess and The Frog
Role: The Princess
Roommate: TBD (I have her general outline, but not her name or tale)
BFFAS: Darling Charming and her roommate
Though she shares her last name with them, Lydia is from an entirely different Charming family from the trio of siblings that attend Ever After High. As a matter of fact, she's related to another student, although they aren't close: Apple White's father and Lydia's are brothers.
Lydia's parents had very minor destinies, as they were nobles that the previous generation's Robin Hood stole from. Because of this, they believed Lydia's destiny would too, be minor, and gave her a lot of freedom growing up. If she refused to wear dresses, they'd comply, and if she wanted to learn all the same things as her brother, they'd let her. They were very loving parents that put their children's happiness above all, and wished for nothing but for them to fulfill their destinies and then live a life free of expectations.
As a child, Lydia once told Apple that, once she became queen, she'd be the captain of her royal guard. Apple, innocently, dismissed it as a joke, saying princesses can't be knights. Lydia brushed it off, but after that, Snow White allowed for many less playdates between the two, fearing Lydia would become "a bad influence" on Apple. Despite this, Lydia does not resent Apple, and still loves and respects her cousin.
Lydia grew up excelling in areas expected of a knight: swordsmanship, chilvary, equestrianism. Despite being proud of herself for her accomplishments, Lydia often feared that her behaviour, being unbefitting of a princess, would make her ineligible for a destiny.
In personality, Lydia seems very calm and collected at first, and takes pride in her chilvary. However, she is often too prideful, to the point of arrogance. She also has a habit of acting spoiled and stubborn around those she is close to, as a result of being pampered as a kid. She has a very hard time accepting she's wrong, and will often double down even after internally recognizing the mistake.
She appears at Ever After High after receiving a letter from Headmaster Grimm, inviting her to attend as the next Princess of The Princess of The Frog. She's very surprised at the invitation, and once she arrives, so is Headmaster Grimm, who had decided to invite "a Princess Charming of suitable age" without looking into her personally. However, he refuses to admit his mistake, and allows her to attend.
Apple is very happy to see her there, thought at first she thinks it's a visit. The other students, however, turn their heads at the unusual figure: Lydia, in her boots, is about the same height as Daring, and she walked in with a sword on her hip. After the initial shock has passed, most Royal students — save for Apple and, by extension, her friends — avoid Lydia, seeing her as an abnormality, and most Rebels as well, since, due to her loyalty to her cousin, she's still very much a Royal. It doesn't help that she is often very curt and blunt, and not good at small talk. Despite this, though, one specific girl reaches out to her after her arrival, feeling kinship: Darling Charming. Though, at this point, Darling is still hiding her knightly endeavours, she still approaches Lydia, and they become fast friends. Darling doesn't feel offended by Lydia's bluntness, and feels happy to have a girl more similar to herself around. Lydia, despite not being fully aware of Darling's secret knight persona, feels more comfortable around her than the others, and is glad to have made a friend.
Hopper himself is extremely unsure on how to react, as the girl that stands before him as his happily ever after is extremely different from what he had pictured — he was happy to have a destined princess, sure, he had been waiting for this — but Lydia was, by no means, a normal princess. He was nervous around most girls, sure, but Lydia was a whole different story. He didn't just feel afraid of making a fool of himself, part of him felt just simply *afraid*.
Lydia, on her side, falls in love with Hopper at first sight after arriving at Ever After, which only worsens her bluntness problem as she gets nervous around him, making her come off as threatening. Hopper's habit of wooing other girls as a frog does nothing to help her nerves, and they end up in a cycle of Lydia is accidentally rude → Hopper thinks she hates him → He flirts with another girl, having zero idea she likes him → She gets upset → Repeat.
Stuff I couldn't figure out how to put in the text cohesively:
• Lydia, despite being picked at random, is, in fact, Hopper's destined princess. A side effect of this is that she is a "curse-blocker" — when she is around, he cannot turn into a frog — which she interprets again, as him disliking her, since he turns into a frog around the girls he likes.
• I originally didn't plan to make her related to Apple, but decided on it because it'd make it harder for people to think she's related to the Charmings of the original cast.
• Lydia is a girlfailure in disguise, don't let her facade fool you, she only acts cool and gallant.
• I'm going to elaborate on this on my next post, but Lydia has Iron Henry's curse, she was born with three iron bands around her heart, making her experience emotion less intensely than normal, contributing to why people see her as a little cold.
• Lydia feels very vindicated after receiving the letter claiming her as the Princess of her tale, because to her, it justifies her existence. "Of course I was never a normal princess, in my tale, I'm the one that saves, not the one that gets saved." She felt misplaced her whole life, and this, to her, is like being told "You were actually right in being like this all along. Everyone else that judged you was wrong."
• Her roommate was originally meant to be the daughter and heir of the Sea Witch, but then I found out there is a canon character with that position, and since their personalities are very different, I decided to make her a different character. Her name is Marina and she is a sea creature. She's sassy and often ends up coming off as mean-spirited, but is just trying to tease as one would a friend. She and Lydia become fast friends because, on top of being roommates, Lydia does not get offended by her teasing, and she's not offended by Lydia's curtness. She has pointy teeth. I'm still trying to figure out what story she could be from (if you have any ideas, please share!)
If you've read to this point, thank you so much! :)
