Early on Claire asked me ‘what is a pearl?’ I tried to come back to this line of questioning throughout my making.  Helped my thinking in not being so literal.

A song I made. When I was experimenting at beginning of semester with idea of Pop star. ‘HOW DOES ONE BECOME FAMOUS IN A WEEK?’

Sisco Fransan is a post punk new wave British Musician responding to COVID-19 through song. Using sound to defy history a la "Ring a Ring o' Rosie".

This sketch informed my thinking as it brought Sisco Fransan into the tangible world

Key because it was the first real work I made. It informed a lot of the semester for me in seeing the possibilities for performance.

Finished install in the Garage, I like how the garage becomes part of the work.

Became interested in using my family to ‘become’ trophies as I was surrounded by family memorabilia in the garage

Exploring how the space interacted with performers and a live test for me to see what I wanted to make.

Playing with becoming the space. I wanted to feel ‘steamrolled’,  the space being 3D but easily flattened into a 2D space.

There is something about this photo of my sister in the Trophyroom that I like a lot. I felt ready to move on from here.

Important sketch. A suggestion I got from the first piece was to explore performance more within the set I made. I decided to have this piece hinge around a blender that explodes.

Found carpet which I cut into wave shape. Important as it allowed me to make from the ground up and added a texture I really like

Another suggestion made from the first piece was to explore three point lighting. I like how the holes in the fabric allowed a warm light to emit from behind.

This initial run through taught me that my direction needed to be more clear and ORGANISED to get it looking how I wanted it to.

I ended up reworking the instruments from Sisco Fransan’s song to suit this more subterranean space.
