I know that my posts here are pretty infrequent, but that’s just a combination of multiple irl factors I don’t want to burden others with. Anyway, after month of everyday work I finally finished this little project of, basically custom HD renders of all Large Monster icons in Sunbreak. Can’t honestly say these are true HD versions since I didn’t use same brushes. Still, I tried to keep the style of original icons (since it’s my favorite in the franchise) to the best of my ability. Now I just need advice on where would be the best place to post them so that everyone could freely download both with and without background versions in full resolution (Twitter isn’t an option due to its generative AI problem) . I will upload some examples with this post, but Tumblr will unfortunately lower the quality
And while I acknowledge that this kind of fanart isn’t particularly creative this project definitely helped me get back to understanding how colors work

“The undying love”
After my second favorite monster of all time it’s only logical to make my favorite one. Always imagined that blue color of this attack metaphorically represents Ibushi helping Narwa even after death. So that’s the idea behind this fanart. Had lineart done 2 years ago but only now I finally had opportunity to somewhat finish it (couldn’t come up with a better background tho😅)

Been a while since non-skeletal artwork so I decided to make fanart of my second favorite monster of all times - Risen Shagaru Magala in front of bloody eclipse (seemed fitting considering motif of the game). I was a bit rusty so result is a bit simpler than originally intended, but I’m still happy it turned out

Had yet another inspiration to draw a skull. So decided to make a quick study based on a rough-legged buzzard skull I have in my personal collection. Definitely like the end result even if it’s not a super unique reference

And here comes yet another skeletal. They really do help to deal with everything else. Although this bird in particular gave me a slight headache with its proportions. But at least there’s now one more illustration of Danielsraptor:D
Feathers are unknown and thus kept at minimum

Time to work on another real one, I guess. Hopefully will be done before too long. And such WIP’s definitely help me stay motivated to complete a piece

Had another wave of productivity for unimportant stuff so here’s a personal take on Beotodus with an idea that it’s still a wyvern and not an actual fish with wyvern characteristics. Definitely wasn’t my comfort zone. Hopefully you all like it

Nothing like another episode of insomnia with increased productivity for creation of yet another MH skeletal. Smallest flying wyvern this time. Hope you like it

What a better way to start a New Year than a quick skeletal of Aknosom?

Won’t be as controversial as Wyverian eggs, but that’s a genuine question I got recently while farming Nakarkos

Just so you know, I like Monster Hunter. Not necessarily for biology, but I like inspirations their designs have. So during recent third 4U walkthrough I noticed texture exclusive to 4/4U and… likely won’t be a good communicator of original paper, but it’s pretty short and fantastically written in case you need more details and reasoning

Continuing trend of underrepresented groups in skeletal reconstructions - snakes. Originally wanted to improve my knowledge of them, but then I saw a paper describing Eoconstrictor barnesi… you know the rest. Had to really assemble bones myself for the first time and result looks alright(?). Hopefully this one will be helpful to someone and if there’re any mistakes feel free to let me know

Hey! Would you look at that! Another reconstruction. Miocene falcon known from partial tharsometatarsus. At least relatives are more complete. Still not accipitriformes member (family I observed a lot during Taldom field practice), but I’m getting close. Second illustration shows what is actually known from the species Though given how fast this one was created I’m starting to fear that it’s a hypomanic episode kicking in. So it’s the final skeletal for a week or two

Was notified that the genus was changed to Helioscopos so here’s an updated version (yes, one letter change, but an important one)
Also the fact that I was notified about this by one of the paper authors (along with positive feedback they gave me) is such a great honor that I’m still a bit speechless

Well, what started as a simple skull sketch in the hospital ended up being a full skeletal 3 days later. Motivation sure is wonderful. Didn’t expect it to take it less than a week, tho. Also this dude ended up looking like a weird mix of leopard gecko and a skink, which I both love and find cursed. But makes sense given its position. Likely not a final revision, tho

Btw, I’m finally back from hospital so I’m able to introduce you all to my slightly kinky but absolutely adorable corn snake Coral. Not my first pet, but the one that chose me (actually shown signs of “boredom” in my absence). He’s still a baby and I love him. Will do everything so that he lives a happy long life

Also since it’s a more personal blog decided to say one thing. Feeling normally is amazing. For past three years I thought that my only concern was reoccurring depression which made it impossible to stay productive for long periods of time. That was one of the reasons why I almost left most communities I could call digital home (didn’t feel good enough for them). But over the last ten days I’ve got an accurate diagnosis and treatment. And while there’ll be no more spikes of happiness, it feels great to have control over things you took for granted until they disappeared one day. And that’s part of the reason I’m slowly getting back to art as you can see. Hopefully this lasts for a long time no matter how screwed situation over here will get. Ok, sorry for that meaningless post without art or anything. Just needed to get it off my chest and it feels even better
