going on holiday today so i’ll be in and out until next monday, but before i vanish for a bit, i wanted to leave a little note that stretches across every fandom space i’m in:
it is completely okay for non-black people to say the word black when describing someone’s race or identity.
i’ve noticed this hesitation, this reaching for words like “tan” or “golden” especially when talking about light-skinned black characters. baby they are light brown, yes, and still black. and it’s funny how we can write whole lyrical paragraphs about how pale a character is, but we stop short when it comes to blackness.
black is not a bad word. blackness is not something to be tiptoed around or avoided.
what ends up happening is that black and brown characters often just don’t get described at all. if a character is brownskin or darkskin they just completely absolved from the narrative. there’s this kind of silence, like you’re afraid of saying the wrong thing, but that silence erases people too.
so i’m just gently encouraging you to lean into that discomfort and move through it. if you’re not sure in how to write it, do research.
i emphasize this a lot in my own writing because sometimes i think people forget i’m black and also because i want to show that you can write blackness without turning us into metaphors or dessert.
i think we deserve to be seen clearly.
alright, that’s everything. all my love.
ally x

Trans women will never be free until people stop having strong emotions about penises. Like we, as a society, have got to stop caring about dicks! Dicks have to stop symbolizing maleness, obviously, but they also have to stop symbolizing power, dominance, sexual agency and aggression, violence, and even sex itself. Like trans women can’t be free if the very conceptual presence of a penis represents an intrusion(!) of unwanted(!) sexuality(!) in public life. Like that’s why trans women are abhorrent to both male chauvinists and radical feminists, because both groups have extremely strong feelings about what a penis *represents*, and find the conceptual and actual presence of a woman with a penis to be simultaneously vile and nonsensical because they’ve loaded so much symbolic baggage onto both women and penises.
Anyway dicks are totally neutral body parts and seeing a dick, or a bulge in a swimsuit, or simply knowing that there’s a dick somewhere in the same bathroom as you isn’t harmful or violent

dean does that old-person thing of making sure cas has everything before he leaves somewhere. like he does it everytime, and cas just plays along with it (he left with his phone dead once and dean hasn’t let it go since.)
“You got your wallet?”
“Yes.”
“Keys?”
“Yes.”
“Phone?”
“Yes.”
“Fully charged this time, so you don’t give me a friggin’ heart attack?”
“Yes, Dean.”
“Angel Blade?”
“Is this really necessary?”
“Answer the question, Cas.”
“Yes, Dean. I do.”
“Good. Now flap your wings and get a move on. Text me when you’re there.”
“I always do.”

My super cool AU where the soul gains a voice after enabling mic settings, and it and Kris spend the rest of the chapter cussing each other out.

I've been taking the "Kris played with the power strip as a kid" thing at face value, but talking to a friend they pointed out that the most common way kids "play" with electrical sockets is by sticking things like forks onto them.
They also pointed out that Ramb's "hair" resembles two bent forks + his chin resembles a fork as well:
I'm surprised I didn't think about it before, because it would explain quite a few things about Ramb. Starting with the fact that he insists he knows Kris very well, but his idea of what Kris considers to be "fun" involves violence and hurting people.
Kris keeps playing Ramb's game despite getting hurt by it, just like playing with the electrical socket.
This is also why Ramb is associated with swords, death and "freedom"/agency imagery... While also being just a random meaningless electric socket, just a passive character wanting Kris's attention again.
It's possible that Kris only "played" with the electrical socket once and this became a traumatic memory for them... But the fact that Ramb prides himself on being Kris's favorite and believes that Kris won't be interested in Tenna's more traditional games makes me feel that Kris "played" with the electric socket multiple times after losing interest in traditional games and TV. Kris was self-harming. The sword route makes them reenact that.
