i cringed looking back on this, i frankly have no interest in rewriting this

Chapter 1: A New Beginni– Wait.. Who The Hell Are You?

He stood over the pile of dead bodies, gazing at their contorted structures. He couldn't imagine the unbearable suffering they must've gone through before meeting their inevitable fate. He doesn't remember the exact moment when the world had descended into nothing but utter chaos.

Oh, right. Formalities. You're probably wondering who he is. Well, he goes by the name of Maverick. He's not a bad fellow. He has brown, straight hair with bangs slightly hanging over his eyes. Speaking of, his eyes are a nice light shade of blue. He.. does have a background but he prefers not to talk about it. Maybe at some point, he'll open up.

Maverick wears a black vest over a black and white striped flannel along with black pants and black combat boots. Nothing too extra.

After zoning out for some time, Maverick turns around and walked off into a random direction. He didn't know where he was going but he didn't care. He wanted to get away from this mess. Always keep moving. That was a mental note he often kept in mind.

With a heavy sigh, he stopped in his tracks. He wasn't going anywhere at this point. He glanced over his shoulder, looking back at the fallen city he once resided in. It contained everything. Ammo, food, water.. you name it. Buuuut, it was about time he left this area. He had already collected enough supplies to last him for about.. 2 months?

All of a sudden, he heard a noise. He cocked his head in the source of the abrupt sound. It came from the bushes up ahead. He knew someone was here. He could detect their presence. His gut protested with him -- suggesting that he should ignore it and simply move on -- ensuring that it could be just his mind playing tricks with him.

However, there was just no way that could be the case. He definitely heard something. He wielded his pistol, taking a few cautious steps forward. "Who's there?!" Maverick called out, impatiently positioning his finger on the trigger. Who could be there? He hadn't seen another person for days. He hopes his encounter with the individual doesn't end up in the two of them drawing their guns.

Silence. No one responded to his question. As expected. Maverick was about to lower his weapon until someone lunged out at him, tackling him. He soon realizes that he was pinned to the ground. He was unable to move. Goddammit. He shouldn't have left his guard down. He nervously stared up at the silhouette of a tall, bulky man. It took him a while to have a solid grasp on who he was looking at. It was a man. Just like him.

The man had blonde hair which was neatly combed to the side. He appeared to possess a nice set of hazel eyes. Maverick notices that the man had a scar that crosses his right eye. He eventually directs his attention toward his uniform for which he decides to examine. He wore a bullet vest which concealed the leathered racing jacket beneath. It would seem that he wore black pants: a similar characteristic Maverick and the man possessed. The last thing he jotted down was that the man was wearing bristol biker boots.

The man finally decides to say something, speaking in a consistently foreboding tone, "Who are you and what is your objective here?"

Whenever I see a big dispute in a fandom I'm in, I get all overwhelmed and terrified even if I'm not partaking in the chaos, I'm just a spectator

unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy
