Experimental Infrared
Sunday the 26th of April
A selection of images from around my garden to help to experiment with infrared colours. All 4 images are successful in my opinion as they change the perspective of the original image. I also experimented with black and white and I am not as impressed. As I'm doing this edit through photoshop, it doesn't quite have the same effect as a through camera image. It's something I will need to work on or maybe scrap it all together. Two examples of black and white are below:

Infrared Test
Wednesday the 22nd of April
The worst photomerge you ever did see. This is a test shot I wanted to take so see if doing a photomerge would be effective or not. With some practice then maybe.
This was taken at the back of my garden. A bunch of old and rotten looking trees turned into a whole different perspective.

Illuminate Evaluation
Wednesday the 8th of April
ISO 100 | f/8 | 30 second exposure
Nikon D750 with a 50mm lens.
This project unfortunately came at a bad time for us students and lecturers. I had an original idea of photographing my Dad’s bunker and using torches to highlight the key aspects. Similar to this one but with a more equipment based scene. so I had to settle for our garage instead. However, I feel this outcome is a positive. My set-up was also not ideal as I had forgot my tripod during the manic rush to get home. I used an ironing board, bungee ropes and compost bags to reduce camera shake - ideal. I experimented with composition and found, the closer, the better otherwise, there was unnecessary blank space. I took an image every 15 minutes from 8pm onwards until it reached just after 9pm. I used one torch and set up a second behind the car to create a warm and welcoming effect - mimicking a working environment.
I started my camera settings off at ISO 100, f/9 at 30 seconds. From then on, I changed my aperture to f/8 and f/11. As well as changing my aperture, I altered my exposure time between 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds. I finally settled on ISO 100, f/8 at 30 seconds. Once I took a few images I was happy with, I exported them to Photoshop and merged three together to create an outcome I was proud of.
The post production process was the more challenging of all. I wanted to highlight the key aspects of the image, as I mentioned before. I made sure to alter the exposure just enough so the tyres were a key feature; as well as the cars roll cage and the garage doors and textured exterior. As I wanted to increase texture, I adjusted clarity ever so slightly. Apart from that, not much else was edited.
In my opinion, this project sucked. But only due to the circumstances. Apart from that, I'm impressed with my final outcome.

Above is the image I decided to create for ‘illuminate’. This edit consisted of three images being merged together.
An evaluation will follow soon.
