5 Disney Films with hidden, real life representation. An article I wrote myself
Disney studios have been creating animated films for the past 94 years. They are one of the most famous film production houses, who have over 150 films. Our generation, along with many others have grown up with Disney films and this has defiantly had an influence on our upbringing.
To help you identify the hidden life messages you might have missed from some of your favorite animated Disney films, here are 5 Animated Disney Films that showcases real life situations.

1. Up (2009)
One of Disney’s famous films to ever be released out would be considered Up. It touched the hearts of all, and made everyone realize that, yes, we do have a soul. This movie tackles loss, the lost of Carls wife Ellie which leaves Carl lonely as he ages. This isn’t a hidden message as it happens during the first few minutes of the film, the hidden message is that this film isn’t only about loss, it was also about how getting old can make you realize how messy and uncontrollable life is, along with certain regrets that one can have. It also brushes upon the love one feels towards an animal.

2. Inside Out (2015)
In 2015, Disney released a film, which focuses on common mental health issues. It tackles depression, anxiety, and the struggle of change. This is all portrayed by 5 different emotions that are primary to the human brain, Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger. This is all so clear to the older audience, as it is something that they can probably relate to, but for the younger audience it teaches them that everyone has a right to noy be `okay` and that we all need to process our emotions at our own pace, and in our own way.

3. Zootopia (2016)
Zootopia tackles an occurring global issue which is Discrimination. Judy Hopps a little bunny who has dreams of becoming a policewoman is criticized as they explain to her over and over again that she can do it due to her being a bunny. At the end her getting justice, gives the young audience a chance to realize that anyone can do anything regardless of who they are.

4. Big Hero 6 (2014)
One of Disney`s overlooked film`s is considered Big Hero 6. This film does not only tackle the loss of a loved one, but it also gives the older audience on how to help people through grief. It emphasizes that people grieve differently and what they need most is love and support. Another link to real life would be savoring what one might think is a precious memory of a deceased loved one, in this films case it would be Baymax.

5. Encanto (2021)
Although most of the older Disney fans have watched Disney diversify, the younger generation will have a more cultural range in films. The most recent films that has become popular would be Encanto. Now, Encanto is about a magical, Colombian family who might lose their family home. This film tackles many things, including loneliness, sadness, and stress, but the plot is bigger than that. It reflects on how without Mirabel the house would crumble. This is a metaphor, where the house means the family, so without Mirabel the family wouldn’t be complete. A perfect representation on how the kids can feel less isolated and an outcast.

Wheels or Doors? The Debate that Broke the Internet. An article I wrote myself

The debate started when Ryan Nixon, a rugby league manager in New Zealand, took to twitter the debate him and his friends were having “Do you think there are more doors or wheels in the world?” (2022). Attached to this tweet was a poll which in 2 weeks has resulted into 223,347 votes, 46.4% saying doors and 53.6% saying wheels.
This wasn’t the end as TikTok users expanded the debate on the App. There are now tags; #DoorsVsWheels with 240.8 million views and #wheelsvsdoors with 143.8 million views. 84 million tags are leaned towards team doors whilst the tag team wheels have a 126.6 million views, making it the most favored team between the two on the App. This debate is enduring because there is no data to determine the winner.
Nixon told the Guardian “If you're having a debate with your mates, it's so easy just to jump on Google and win or lose the argument, but for this one there is no answer, it would take forever to try to solve it”. Some people can’t make up their mind so are posting videos on TikTok documenting their findings and trying to merge it with other users so that they could answer the question.
People from either side have trouble concluding what is considered a door and a wheel. Would anything with a hinge be considered a door? Or Anything that rotates may or may not be considered as a wheel.
USP decided to hop on the trend and counted the total number of wheels and doors on its fleet of more than 120,000 vehicles. The final ratio was 768,000 wheels:510,000 doors.
What do you think, are there more cars or doors? Considering that Malta currently has more cars than civilians. Its safe to say that this might be a closed case.

Saturday 19th Novemeber was the Golden Knights film awards, held in Valletta. There were different types of film from animated documentaries to experimental films. The winners were well chosen and I don't think I would forget these films. Before announcing the winners, a traditional Maltese band gave a spectacular debut to introduce the participants. This whole night was interesting yet amazing.

The thick ring (Backwards script)
As she scoffs down her burrito, she realizes that she swallowed a ring.
The waiter finally came with the food after being here for a half hour “Thank you” Anna say to the waiter who probably spit in their food.
The waiter came to take their food and drink order. The boyfriend looked at her funnily and asked if she wanted a diet coke. Whilst the boyfriend had a massive grin on his face. Oh he’s a moron.
They make their way inside the restaurant and sit down.
Anna arrived to the restaurant to find her boyfriend waiting for her outside.
“ Who cares ill crush him with my thighs”
As she eats he chocolate bar she starts crying and telling herself shes an ugly cow and has put on weight.
She starts to get nervous and hungry. Rummaging through her purse for snacks. She finds a chocolate bar.
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anna is almost at the restaurant, and she starts to get angry. She starts shaking the steering wheel and screaming
I wish I can see her maybe ill run her over with my car.
As she is driving her car she thinks to herself
“What a prick and he asked me to go to lunch with him. I’ll show him.”
Anna got dressed in the ugliest dress possible as it made her hips look wide and her body look weird. Smeared on her bright pink lipstick and thickest eyeliner and made her way to the car.
Anna got a phone call and when she picked it up it was her assistant. Carol told her she saw her boyfriend with another woman who was apparently thinner. They had just come out of a jewelry store.

This animation short came up on my YouTube dashboard and I was curious to see the technique used for this short.
It was an interesting story to say the least and it wasn't hard to watch. I continued to watch similar animated shorts like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8srEvrF90-s
It made me thing about other films I have watched with a similar narrative such as Delicatessen (1991).
My goal is create animated film that can be used in education, so this has shown me a new technique I could use but a definite don't in a narrative aspect.
