Howdy! I hope this isn’t a silly question, but I was wondering about a few things for demon commanders!
Can the demons they command like—touch things? Can they only touch the commander? Or is it like a Casper the ghost situation?
Secondly! If two demon mythosi meet, can they see each other’s demons? And to add onto that, can those said demons interact with the others?
Love the game so far!!
This got a bit long, so sorry about that!
The short answers are A.) They have the ability to interact with the world on the level that MC gives them the power to and B.) Yes, all demons can see and interact with each other!
Long answer below!
In the realm of Navara there are seven main types of demons based on the seven deadly sins. Those demons are then broken into six categories based on power. If we were to use Pride demons as an example, it would look something like this:
Rank One: Imp. Rank Two: Fiend. Rank Three: Success. Rank Four: Arrogance. Rank Five: Narcissism.  Archdemon: Pride.
Compare that to a Lust demons... Rank One: Imp. Rank Two: Fiend. Rank Three: Adoration. Rank Four: Infatuation. Rank Five: Obsession. Archdemon: Lust.
Imps + fiends function as servants to demons-- imps tend to serve lower level Rank Four demons while fiends tend to work for Rank Five demons. Rank three demons, as you might've noticed, are actually good things-- and that is because all demons are actually filled with good intentions that become corrupted over time as they gather more power.
The demons MC can control now are mainly imps + fiends-- lower level demons that aren't particularly powerful or strong. They're the ones MC hears whispering/talking and that assist MC in certain fighting scenarios (throwing Jost off the float in Chapter 3 being one of them). They're capable of interacting with the real world but only thanks to the power MC feeds into them-- so they're pretty limited in what they can do. This usually means they're confined to interacting with the world only when MC wants them to-- and they're only "forced" to do what MC tells them to do because MC has the ability to strip them of what little power they have.
As a result, they generally can't harm MC or anyone MC cares about-- nor can they really do petty things like knock stuff over. The exception to this is the parade, where in some variations, the fiends begin to tear MC apart physically-- this is only possible because of how weak MC is regarding their mythosi blood. MC post-exile is aware of the fact they don't actually have the power to keep the demons in line anymore-- the demons, however, are unaware of this up until the moment of that scene in the parade, where Freedom interferes to keep MC alive.
And demons are always aware of other demons! The fiends MC controls don't really "belong" to MC-- it's not like they're haunting or possessing MC. They just follow MC around because they're subservient demons that can only gain power by serving other demons. They exist on another plane of existence that sort of "overlaps" with the regular world-- and that's a plane that all demons are aware of at any given time.
Pre-exile, MC was able to control any demon that wasn't an archdemon-- though the relationships there are a lot more complex and conditional than the demons we've seen so far. You'll learn more about Rank Three+ demons as the story progresses!

i read an old post about fashion in the different countries and it’s explained that aesthetic isn’t really prioritized by those who live in vrithka. so do nikke and jost’s tattoos have meanings or cultural significance? (apart from the snake ones since you already mentioned that they’re a count of people they’ve killed)? and if it’s not a spoiler, would they get matching tats with the commander once they’re far enough in a romantic relationship? i hope things are well on your end!
Their arm tattoos are the ones related to the Taipan, a gang that's taken over the majority of Vrithka that they're both a part of. Those are the ones where each scale represents someone they've killed, yes.
Otherwise, the tattoos on their necks are also cultural-- they're something unique to the clan they're both part of. As one grows up, they begin to get geometric tattoos along their neck that represent parts of their life-- gender identity, life accomplishments, their role within the clan, marital status, etc, etc. The tattoos are continuously added on to throughout life, and you usually get your first one around 16, when one is considered an adult within the tribe in the sense that they're expected to help contribute to the clan.
I don't know if Nikke + Jost would get matching tattoos, though... it would depend on what it is. Tattoos have significant cultural importance to them both, so I don't think they would just get something for fun, even if it was for the Commander. Then again, within the clan, tattoos are also used to identify family units, so... if MC joined the family so-to-speak... it might be optional for MC to adopt that part of the culture, in which case they'd sort of have matching tattoos?
Otherwise, tattoos for pure aesthetic aren't really a thing in Navara-- the only exception to that is in Belleont, where pirates regularly get them just for the sake of getting them!

While we're at it: using language that downplays genocide is a form of genocide denial.
Joe Biden isn't doing a bad job, Joe Biden is providing material support for genocide.
Israel isn't handling the situation badly, Israel is committing genocide.
Employing euphemisms minimizes the reality of this genocide. It's disrespectful and dangerous.
If you are more uncomfortable with the word genocide than you are with the reality of genocide, then you are not prepared to be part of any serious discussion. Work on that on your own time.

April 22, 2024 - Student protesters for Palestine defend their occupation of the Siemens hall building at Cal Poly Humboldt from riot police sent in by university administrators.
According to the @humboldtforpalestine Instagram account, which posted a statement at around 7 p.m., protesters are demanding that the university “disclose all holdings and collaborations with the zionist entity,” an academic boycott of Israeli universities, proactive pardons for the protesters and, finally, an immediate ceasefire and end to the occupation of Palestine. Hussam's GFM is still extremely low on funds, so I'll be doing some fundraising for him! For every 5 euros you donate, I will write you 250 words. If you donate 8 euros, I'll write you 500 words. This rate is good up to 2,000 words! After that, every 10 euros donated will get you 250 words.*
Fandoms I've written for and will definitely write for: The Raven Cycle, Six of Crows, We Hunt the Flame
Fandoms I will NOT write for: Harry Potter, Marvel, OFMD, TLOU
If there's a fandom you want me to write for but I'm not that familiar with it, you can send me a DM and we can work it out! I'd just need some background so whatever you'd like to see in the story/characterization can be hashed out. Please make sure you DM me before donating so that we're both sure I can write for/am willing to write for the fandom of your choice. For artists: I will also write for your OCs if you'd like!
I will not write smut or anything NSFW.
You can send me proof of your donation and your request for a fic through DM. Please make sure to block out any personal information on your GFM receipt.
Link to Hussam's GFM
*please note that i am a student and it's currently exam season, so it will take me at least one week to get you your fics, possibly longer if they're over 2,000 words or if i'm unfamiliar with the characters. please be patient with me! thank you <3

Hi, I don’t rlly know how to explain this but I’ll try haha.
I recently found out I have Egyptian and specifically Coptic ancestry, through family tree making, matching with cousins, gedmatch, dna testing, etc and now personal confirmation from family/ancestors.
The problem is idrk who was the Coptic ones in my family as my dad died when I was four and I’ve had no contact with his family at all since. I know it came from his mother, but I can’t even give you her name let alone where she was from, or anything. Although I want to learn more and reconnect and eventually find out who they were exactly. It’s just hard because my dad’s living family has no contact w us and since he’s dead, it’s been hard to get records as well.
I would like to learn more about Coptic culture and Egypt in general but I am worried about people considering me a ‘culture thief’ since I only recently. found this out a few months ago but didn’t really have 100% confirmation until like 2 weeks ago. And even though I can prove genetically I have ancestry Coptic I can’t really say who my ancestors were which would probably make some skeptical.
Especially because I am African American and there already exists a rift between Egyptians and AAs bc of hoteps who claim Egyptian culture/claim Egyptians are just Arabs who ‘stole’ Egyptian culture. I want to be respectful but I’m unsure how to navigate this.
I guess I’m asking if you have any idea how I should move forward, or if you know of any resources to learn more? I want to be respectful, but I would also love to start to reconnect even if I don’t know where my ancestors were exactly from other than ‘Egypt’.
Hello! First of all, this is both a very respectful and a very personal ask, so I want to thank you for trusting me with that. I hope my answer can help you find peace with the matter a little.
Instead of trying to figure out if the overall sentiment of trying to reconnect is harmful or not, because there's really no answer to that in and of itself, and instead stop at every individual action taken to reconnect and asking: could this be harming anybody?
For example, if you'd like to pick up Coptic language lessons, could this action possibly be harmful to anyone? Not really. Is reading about Coptic culture and engaging with what survived of it in modern day harmful? I don't think so.
The only possible thing that I can think of that might be harmful is, I have awful experiences with certain diaspora Copts who have never really engaged with the community nor know much of it, who suddenly butt in conversations about Coptic politics in Egypt like they're an expert on it despite never having been or known anything about it themselves, but from the way you've written this ask I doubt you're the kind of person to do that anyway, seeing as you're being very respectful and that you recognize that there's some dissonance in your experience (which there's no shame in, but the self awareness is helpful as a guide of when to participate and when not to!)
I don't know if I said this before on this blog but, to my knowledge, the matter of the hotep subculture entails far more than just questioning the Egyptian identity, and seeing as I'm neither African American nor Black at all, I don't think it's my place to comment on it. I invite any of my Black followers to contribue to intra-community discussion in the reblogs/comments for you to read, though!
All I can promise you is that even if the notion that the population of Egypt was displaced rather than converted during the Arab conquest of Egypt is false, there still are Black Egyptians and there always have been. Sadly I'm sure there will always be people who try to make you feel like a pretender, but that is true of so many things and regardless of what you do, so always remember thay Black people have always been part of Egypt's history, and that nobody is entitled to know your personal details or family history and you don't need to disclose anything you're not comfortable with to prove anything to them.
As for resources, there's always a lot on Egyptology in general, so the specific topics that would be helpful to be aware of are: modern history of Copts (or Copts post the Arab Conquest of Egypt), the persecution of Copts, the decline of the Coptic language and the efforts to revive the language. The last two are especially pertinent nowadays.
Lastly you can always ask other Copts! I may not have all the answers but I'm sure between me and my followers we can find something helpful for you if you're trying to find a specific resource of have more questions. (The scarcity of resources is something we *all* have to deal with, even us here in Egypt, I'm afraid, but it's not a lost cause! You'd be surprised how much is out there on internet archives.)
I hope you have a lovely day. ♥️

On that note, I want to spotlight the fundraiser for an Afro-Palestinian journalist, and Lama Jamous' uncle. He has less of a following amongst allies because he posts almost entirely in Arabic, so I'm going to spotlight him on my blog and put him on the fundraiser list as well.
And please follow him on IG as well, even if you only speak English he has small captions on the videos he posts that translate his Arabic.

We know mages were expelled from plaithus but before they were were they allowed to serve in the army? Considering that plaithus is v military focused but simultaneously harbored a growing fear of mages I was just wondering what that looked like in practice :P also if they were what happened to the ones in the army when the mages were expelled? It’s sort of similar to what is present day happening w general distain for mythosi however there are some differences for sure re: cultural beliefs about mages v mythosi, Just thought I’d ask! I hope you have a lovely day
CW: Bias
There were some mages + sorcerers who were allowed into the army, yes, but the only ones that were of any use magically are those who specialize in elemental magic. This is because A.) it's the most obviously offensive form of magic and B.) Any other form of magic that could be used "offensively" would be done so in a way that Plaithus frowned upon, even back then.
For example, Vethna can perform pretty much every form of Illusory and Pathomancy magic, but the method of using that in a way that's combative is morally questionable to Plaithus as it involves invading someone's literal mind to warp them into doing what you want (yes... we all see the irony and hypocrisy).
So only a small percentage of the mages + sorcerers were really in the military and using their magic. The rest who might join strictly could only use physical combat, but the problem with that is when one is in a life/death situation, they'll do anything to save their life, including using questionable magic. This did result in some very questionable things happening in war. Like magic-users being forced to use the blood of their fallen peers to strengthen their own magic to survive, which the media and military of Plaithus did not like.
It's one of those things were people started pointing at Plaithian magic-users and saying, "Look, they're just like the blood-magic users in Vygrand. They're all the same," and implying things about the "inherent" violent and bloody nature of magic and magic-users. When an actual war broke out with Vygrand, that bias and judgment was just strengthened in tenfold, and tensions were so high it really didn't take much swaying from the military to encourage the general public to be complacent with the magic-users removal.
So, by the time magic-users were kicked out of Plaithus "entirely", there were already banned from being in the military, and any that were in it were discharged
Plaithus wasn't always a magic-fearing country. It was a pretty recent development that happened in the last 100 years, give or take, maybe even less than. And yes, what's happening with natural-born mythosi in-game is pretty much just an exact repeat of what happened with the magic-users, which is why Trystan is so unsettled by it. This has happened before, and it's happening again, and everyone knows exactly what road it's heading down.
