"the end of the day?" naomi suggests as she tries to figure out why she ended up at this particular bar that evening. "nothing in particular, really. just had a long work day and didn't quite feel ready to give up on the night, yet."

She nodded and went to make her drink.

"What brought you in?" she asked, placing the finished drink on a coaster. She was fast at it, that's for sure. She wasn't much of a talker, but sometimes people caught her on a good day.

closed starter for @drvcxrys (arnold & kagome) / their fingers scratch at their opposite wrist absentmindedly, keeping an eye out for poison ivy as they walk along the trail. they'd looked up pictures of it for an hour before agreeing to come on the hike, making sure they'd know how to spot it if it appeared. there were other things to worry about, too, like bears and murderers and magically little beings that would destroy their lives in dc, but poison ivy seemed more manageable. "you know where we're going, right?"

monica's ego only great at laurie's confession. her smile's lighthearted as she turns to look at laurie, only to discover that the other woman is seeming a little - shy? she doesn't entirely know how to read the vibe. deciding it's best to be candid in return, she offers a smile and similar sentiments. "i love being with you, too."

Biting down on her bottom lip, she felt how her nerves started to kick in. "Well yeah. All of those things actually" she nodded, looking down at her hands. She didn't have the courage to look at Monica when she had been so honest just now.

"best time of year then, huh? you must be like santa in the spring." to craig it sounds pretty stressful actually, but he doesn't point that out. he's just glad he doesn't have to deal with it. "yeah, i've tried finding bandmates online. it's super hit or miss, kind of like online dating. you have to sort through a million weirdos to find one that kind of fits."

He chuckled. "I suddenly get very popular when people need help with their tax returns." Not that it was his speciality, but he was good with numbers so to everyone else that meant that he would obviously be able to help them out. "Maybe there's something online?"

"listen man, i'm open to all possibilities. i'm here, aren't i?" jj suggests with an unbothered grin over his features. "you gotta lighten up, really. you're gonna scare away customers with that scowl." he can't really expect everyone who walks in to be an expert, does he? "unless this is one of those elitist places i accidentally stumbled in. and if that's the case, i'll show myself out."

Just looking at the other guy and the way he waved his fingers, he sighed softly. Not everyone had had the childhood Oz had back home in Sunnydale so he had to remind himself of that instead of getting annoyed. "Well you can't really blame me for assuming that you don't believe when you are like kinda mocking it" he pointed out.

eli held up their hands in defense. they really weren't trying to invade this person's space. "sure, no worries. didn't even know anyone else was out here." they'd come to walk around and get lost in their own thoughts, as usual, not wrap themself up in someone else's.

This wasn't a beach - not even close - but it was away from people and she was near some body of water where she could relax. That was, until, she heard footsteps and let out a small sigh. "This area is large enough - find somewhere else to roam"

closed starter for @youllalwaysbemyporcelain (richie & kieran) / richie isn't even sure what he's looking for, or what compelled him to come to the beach today. in his mind, this place didn't compare to the jersey shore, but he surprisingly hadn't pointed that out a million times today. "you know how to find any of this shit? you really think there's like, buried treasure out here somewhere? seems like a myth. a waste of time..." and yet, he couldn't stop himself from trying.

closed starter for @wvsteria (roman & brinna) / "please remind me why the fuck i thought it was a good idea to be outside." not only was it not normally roman's thing, but it was pushing a hundred degrees outside. he was about ready to melt off his own body, if that was possible. he yanked his feet up, one after the other, every step feeling like a marathon in this heat.

"therapy," jack repeats with obvious skepticism in his voice. he'd spoken to a therapist a couple times before, back when his work mandated he do so. he'd found it too easy to manipulate, mask his way through sessions. he rubs a hand over his face, palm lingering of his mouth before dropping to the table between them. "i'd rather just talk to you." the only person he's honest with, really.

"Therapy. That's the proper way to deal with something like this because you can't continue on like this. You have to get some help to navigate whatever it is that you are going through" he said. Jack's next words caused Michael to frown. "I see" he mumbled, looking down at his hands. He didn't really know what to say to that. It stung, of course it did but he wouldn't say anything. He didn't want to make Jack feel worse than he already did.

closed starter for @youllalwaysbemyporcelain (adam & aang) / "i can't remember the last time i was out in nature this time of night," adam tells the other as they follow alongside, unsure why he even agreed to attend this bonfire in the first place. it wasn't exactly his kind of thing. "guess the summer spirit got to me, kind of."

closed starter for @oceanprose (charlie & sidney) / "huh? is it supposed to be stopping right now?" charlie asks as they peer down from the top of their perch at the climax of the ferris wheel. he was pretty sure it was going to make at least one full revolution before halting.

closed starter for @bcrncoldx (violet & carlisle) / "did you see that?" violet grabbed the forearm of the man beside her, not caring if it was an invasion of space. their eyes were firmly focused on the sky above. a moment later, the large object reappeared and began to dart around before their very eyes.

"screw that weird baby then," nate dismisses the magical creature he still wasn't sure was real to begin with. "sounds like you might be getting a little bit of paranoia," he points out with a wink. in time, nate will probably deal with the same. but for now, he's painfully naive. "great — it's a date then. or not a date. maybe i can find something fun for us to do. if i have to make small talk over dinner one more time i may never leave my house again."

"I am at least 90 percent sure that baby would have killed a lot of people." tk admitted with a nod. "before this city, i would have said no but now, yeah, i'm not surprised if a tree could kill someone." he admitted. "really? i would love that! yeah, i think i am going to stay away from babies for a while."

"oh, i'm sure i won't need to sleep here," irina quickly counters without too much hesitancy. truer words were never spoken, as irina never had to sleep anywhere. but holden doesn't need to know that. she twirls the beverage around in its glass, staring at it curiously. she's not sure if she'll take a sip to appease him or not. depends how closely he watches, she guesses.

"Thanks" he said when she shone the flashlight on the glasses. He didn't want to spill the drinks all over his carpet. Handing one of the glasses over to her, he smiled softly at her. "Hopefully the storm will calm down. If not then you can use my bed and I'll sleep on the couch"

closed starter for @strawbrryrush (katniss & tifa) / "i've never really been to something like this," katniss admits as they walk up to a crowded section of the city where people are strewn about, colorful posters and canvases hung up all over, some strangers drawing intricate things along the sidewalks. "have you?"

"you mean like... crying?" monica asks, clarifying what he means. "if so, that's perfectly normal. if you're talking about something else.. i'm not entirely sure i want to know the details."

"Water was just oozing out of my eyeballs like I'm some alien creature excreting fluids". Kai shuddered, shivering a bit. "I was disgusted and so confused as to why."

"to you? oh no, never." adam can't imagine turning his hostility towards olenna. she's never given him any reason to. "i think i'd like to take my new woman out for something to drink. i'm feeling, very expensive. something we can't get at just any old bar." he thinks of a few options that might hold something up to his standards.

"Well as long as you are not an asshole to me then I am going to be content. I would never ask you to change who you were because if you were like everyone else then I wouldn't be standing here" she shook her head. Placing one of her hands on his cheek, Olenna smiled softly. "Now what would you like to do?"
