After being out of sorts for the last few days (which I’m pretty sure is from his molars erupting), my goofball of a toddler is finally back in action and we spent a relatively drama-free day at the park which ended with live Bossa Nova by the Lake 🎶 ... except I had to bribe him with a rainbow pop to get into the stroller to get him home, but by then we had been out for almost 5 hours so he was definitely done! 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 ...and I thought we could all do with a little reminder today. Behind the carefully curated feed and heavily edited photos lies 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 which is messy and muddled with emotions. And full of mistakes and imperfection. Here’s a photo of Aidan running towards the water fountain in front of the @metmuseum. #BestDayEVER right? Wrong. Today Aidan woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was clingy and whiny all morning, and for some reason I thought I could turn things around by taking him out for an afternoon adventure. The plan was to slowly walk through the park and end up at the MET to check out the new rooftop installation. Except he gobbled all his snacks on his way to the museum (after I fed him a hearty, healthy lunch mind you) and the rooftop was closed because of the weather and he pretty much refused to go through any exhibits with me (most of the time repeating that he wanted to go HOME loud enough for everyone there to hear 🤦🏻‍♀️) so we left without seeing anything. And then he had the most epic toddler meltdown in the Park because he wanted my boob (which we’ve established for months is only for when we’re at home). I tried every trick in the book and after 30 minutes of him crying and flailing and trying to tear off my top, I caved and sat down on a park bench in full view of everyone and whipped out my boob for him. He promptly passed out on me nipple in mouth for 45 minutes and I just sat there completely defeated and traumatized. But no, if I hadn’t shared with you what a misadventure it had been, you may think I’m raising a culture vulture of a toddler who just loves wandering through the hallowed halls of the MET. Some days are easier than others, but today was not one of them. We finally took the boys to @colorfactoryco for our #mamadventures this week and they had an amazing time (the sugary treats offered at every turn didn’t hurt 🙈) and I have so many fun photos to share! I’ve carried that boy 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, and my Ergobaby has served me well but at 34 inches / 30 lbs Aidan is proving too much for my shoulders and back. Thankfully he no longer fights being in the stroller (for the most part), but if he wants out I make him hold my hand and walk or push the stroller.
