I played the arcana back in 2019-2020, and then left the fandom bc frankly I couldn't afford to keep playing the game. That being said, I've always been quite taken w the art. Every character is unique and expressive. When I stumbled on your blog, I - like a lot of others - thought you were an official artist because of how closely you manage to capture the style. Do you have any tips on how to emulate the style in my own art? How did you get so good at making art that could easily be mistaken as official art for the game?

I have a bunch of tips and references in my #art ref or #tutorial tags

But at the end of the day, it was because I was obsessed with the art and had a lot of free time to draw nothing but it. I'd say it took me ~40 CGs to consistently get the style, but even then it fluctated a lot. I kept sketching/redrawing the canon sprites and CGs throughout as practice and overall trying to improve as an artist (because the original artists are way more technically competent than I was)

and a shoutout to the two Māori men who travelled to Vienna in 1859, got themselves apprenticed as printers (and incidentally became accomplished ballroom dancers), and finally had an audience with Franz Josef where they charmed him so much that he sent a printing press to New Zealand….which was promptly used from 1861 to print the newspaper of the Kingitanga anti-colonial movement.

Nothing quite demonstrates the generation divide like how both me and my dad are/were MMORPG players, both of us play lizardfolk monks, but in his case in Everquest the Iksar were legit humanoid lizards whereas mine is an Au Ra kawaii uguu anime girl with a few patches of scales and horns

there’s been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and it’s hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh
