Some said we face dark days ahead, some other said that people just being skeptical, and that everything's alright. I (being the stubborn person that I am) do believe that with hardship, comes ease. So here I am, catching every drop of hope from simple everyday life. The warmth of sunlight when I walk among the trees, sweet scent of freshly delivered bouquet of flowers, inspiring words from old books I found in my father's collection, and a random notes at the public park as a reminder of a happier days.

Katniss Everdeen once said that what she needs is dandelion in the spring. A reminder that life can be good again. Yups. Someday soon, life will be good again for us, Indonesian people.

Honestly, I got jealous of people who still have a courage to make a yearly resolution. These days my Sunday evening routine has changed from watching Japanese dorama at my best friend's apartment to reviewing and preparing for weekly plan at work. Basically nowadays, workdays start on Sunday.

This Lunar New Year is full of rain, hopefully a sign of something good. Our awful working condition has been a constant jokes between me and Steven lately. Hopefully something good will show up along the way. After all, hope is the only thing stronger than fear, as Coriolanus Snow once said.

It's all about movement, that's how my 2024 was. Changes swept into almost every part of my life from daily routine, train routes, coffee shop preferences, and people that involved. In the end I was glad that despite all the new normal, some small things never change. My furrbabies still sleep soundly every time I turned on the laptop, Steven's random message that cracked a smile on my face in the middle of the day, and how I found peace in cooking dinner. Thanks 2024 for being a good year, welcome 2025.

Highlights from another hetic day today, one of my coworkers told me that she loved being at the office. "I didn't feel alone here, it's warm and homey atmosphere gets me relax even with such a huge workload. Here is better than being home." She told me. I just smiled. I do have my happy place. Not at home, nor at the office, it's somewhere in between. My research center at university, where I collect small happiness to hold on when days get hard.

As I reviewed the upcoming article, I realize that this coffee shop has grown a little bit bigger. They've cleaned the corner and create new space with additional wooden tables. Also, their newest addition to the menu, which is orange coffee, felt amazingly refreshing in this mid summer heat. This place has become one of my favorite working space around campus.

This evening though, I felt a little melancholy feeling. Probably pre graduation syndrome. Is that such thing really do exist?

Life lately.

First business trip (also first solo flight) after almost 6 years. This time, Cambodia. Such an interesting country full with warm and nice people. I wish I had more time to explore. Hopefully someday I'll come back for traveling.

They said they were unable to provide themselves healthier food due to lack of money, but they willingly brought a k-pop concert ticket, and called it 'healing'. What a wired society.

As I watched the sun rise this morning, this conversation from couple days ago came to my mind.

K: They've changed the company policy. Due to low completion rate, they won't allow employees to enroll Phd anymore unless strictly recommended. These past 10 years, from 10 candidates, only 2 graduated.

Me: I'm sorry for being the catalyst of such unfortunate regulation.

K: Listen closely. Out of 10, only 2 completed the task. You are one of them. You are the success story.

Me: well that's new. I thought my life is a grandeur failure.
