The picture on the left if my last day of high school and the picture on the right is me as of last week. Hair colour aside I feel like I have changed a great deal and I've done things that the me on the left would never have had the balls to do; I've met new people, thrown myself into subjects I have never heard of, dyed all of my hair because why not? being blonde is cool, I've become better at speaking to people, i've gotten a job, I've gained a better understanding about myself, I have more friends now - ones that share my love for music and some of the dumb shit that I do, I've lost my job, I have found myself happy for the first time while in education. Not that there were no happy moments at my high school but I wasn't thoroughly happy. At my high school people would pass me in the corridors hissing insults and making me feel like complete shite and I can say that at my college I don't worry that people will pick on me because no-one there is so absorbed in the lives of others as they were at my high school, where they made me feel so bad about myself and they made me hurt so bad inside that I didn't want to wake up in the morning. I guess I wanted to say things do get better, but you have to have a hand in it, sometimes. Change your hair colour, start drinking tea - or stop. If they make you miserable at high school don't go to the sixth form on the same premises. Start wearing black or just totally forgo wearing coordinated clothes. try and make everything you say one half of a rhyming couplet and if someone tells you "just be happy" drop them - they're not worth it. Obsessively play a video game, cartwheel your way into every room even when it's empty or learn to play an instrument! Things do get better, don't let people around you make you think that it does not. They're not worth it and when things do get better it's like breathing air after what feels like twenty minutes under water.
