I just went to see the movie because it was all over my TikTok sigh, so spoilers ahead

I’m sad they cut out some funny scenes, and especially the terrible terror after the test flight. I feel like they could have done that really well and it would have been nice to see hiccup interact with more than Toothless to really show he’s yk a dragon trainer or in later movies the dragon master.

I am not a fan of ruffnut at all, her personality and attitude towards Astrid is strange and her casting didn’t really feel like it fit the role. This is comparing the animated to live action ofc, no hate towards the actor. They’re literally meant to be identical twins tho (I did like when Gobber made the sarcastic comment on their twin-ness) and they were both scrawny knuckleheads.

Astrid’s attitude towards hiccup was a lot more intense imo and her openly admitting she wanted to be chief was a lot to me. After her apology and all tho she settled a bit more into the animated character role, and thought I’m a little huffy they changed up her casting so she’s not blonde and blue eyed anymore I think she’s still really gorgeous and did a really good job

I also pointed out to my friends the little detail of toothless’ tail. When it’s freshly torn off it has a little bit of the fin still like sticking out like it was roughly and painfully torn off of him unlike the animated which was just a smooth tail to my memory. It was such a tiny detail but I really liked it.

Toothless himself was really expressive too I felt, maybe I just need to rewatch the animated but he was very.

Overall like I said I liked it I think it was good.

OH and edit: the scenery was to die for I loved the scenery so pretty

I’m still undecided on if I should see the live action httyd or not…

I’ve heard “it’s great and better than any live action Disney has made and how a live action SHOULD be done” and “it’s absolute soulless shit and your stupid for giving it a chance.”

And those are different opinions and maybe I should go form my own instead of being a fucking sheep all the time

but if I do see it I’m scared of feeling like a fake fan if that makes sense?? Idk.I’m also kinda scared other httyd fans will hate me of I see it. I have reasons for wanting to see it, like the og director directing it, the cast looks good, I actually like the live action dragon designs, I’ve heard of some added things I genuinely like, and most of all:

Httyd has been a HUGE part of my life. I wouldn’t be the same person without it honestly, and I feel so connected to this franchise. Much more than Lilo and stitch. Or the lion king. Or whatever else. I actually have hope for this movie..

I rlly don’t want other movies like…Shrek or smth to do live actions. I STILL think this movie isn’t necessary. But I feel bad about kinda wanting to see this one

The first time I counted them it was 40 wings, at some point down the line I counted and extra 2 then when I finished them all I had 38, 36, 41 and I gave up counting so if u want to count them go for it I’ve given up, it’s just got a lot of wings. 20 pairs I believe, but some aren’t visible obvi,, and I really considered adding more wings to the neck 😭

Sketch, refined sketch, detailed sketch. I could not sleep and in my anger got up and drew for an hour bc I had an idea for the dragonets of destiny as a tattoo.

I hate how Sunny is turning out, Glory was such an ugly sketch until I detailed her, Tsunami is iffy, I’ve always kinda hated drawing seawings bc they’re all smooth flowy edges, and Clay looks high, pretty good for a close to canon mudwing tho imo

Idk how I’m meant to make a sandwing dark coloured but I’ll jump on Roblox and have a looksy and post it at the end

For their story, Aardwolf is just a plain sandwing, apart from her defecting from the sandwing army. They’re technically hiding out in some mountain on the east side of the sky kingdom, as she still doesn’t know the war is over and is afraid of the consequences of their actions. Her family are extremely unsupportive and unstable, abusing them when they found out she was running away from camp every night with a mudwing. And so they defected and fled, leaving both their eggs and partner, and holed up in that mountain, driving themself insane with their own paranoia. Was very much a rebel when smaller, growing up near the scorpion den and sneaking in there often to see all the cool, weird and scary stuff

Those are the best colour match I’m gonna get, I wish the Roblox game could give me more room to customise and actually add all the tattoos and diamonds on the wings but we work with what we got !!
