When Nishi was 12, their parents signed them up to attend Hope's Peak Academy as an Ultimate-In-Training. They were a student of the 79th class. During the DRA killing game, they met and most admired Tsurugi Kinjo, Ultimate Police Officer and Kinji Uehara, Ultimate Priest. Being around Tsurugi seems to have had some kind of effect on their psyche.

Around the time of the third case, they had accidentally stumbled upon Kinji Uehara preparing the murder. Kinji tried to kill them to prevent them from speaking out during the trial, but just then, Tsurugi had saved them. Though, he hesitated for a moment, which caused Kinji to slip and he gave their neck a shallow cut. They still have a small, yet noticeable scar there.

They ended up escaping the killing game along with Tsurugi Kinjo, Rei Mekaru, and Teruya Otori. The other three took charge of the Kisaragi Foundation.

Nishi's whereabouts are unknown after this.* (*PLOT HOLE, TO BE FIXED LATER)

Years later, they are captured and forced into a second killing game, the killing school trip that takes place on Utsuroshima. Their memories of the past killing game were mostly erased. During the trip, they slowly start to become more interested in Syobai Hashimoto, Ultimate Broker.

Once Mikado had been defeated, they were able to leave the Neo World Program and return to the real world. Syobai Hashimoto and Iroha Nijiue had been arrested due to their involvements in the killing game, and Nishi had been arrested because they'd been deemed suspicious by the Kisaragi Foundation due to various factors**. (**TO BE EXPLAINED LATER)

Syobai and Nishi, who had been in cells next to each other, plotted to escape from prison. Nishi had less restraints, and was given a key by Syobai to saw through the bars. They successfully got through, and was able to use the key to open Syobai's cell.

After getting their clothes and belongings back, they were able to get past the guards by having Syobai take them out. They snuck through a back door, and were able to drive away by having him hijack a car.

During their car ride, Syobai decided that he'd make them his assistant because of their talent as the Ultimate Servant.
