Like I’m sorry, not really, but I think 911 would be better if they flipped Buck and Eddie’s roles in the show. For Eddie to be the dedicated/eternal/perpetual (whatever you wanna call it) bachelor and Buck to be allowed to finally move on from that role. Like the two of them have become more similar in their roles as the seasons progressed and I’d like to see them switch roles.
Buck started off as the bachelor, but we’ve seen him grow season after season. While Eddie started off with the complicated relationship with Shannon but has in a way stagnated or even regressed as the seasons continued when it comes to relationships. They’re both bachelors but Buck is progressing while Eddie is regressing.
Longer and more rambley explanation below.
At the start we had Buck trying to find himself and time and time again fail at his relationships for one reason or another. While Eddie had the complicated relationship with Shannon. So starting off we have the bachelor in Buck and the not divorced but it’s complicated father figure in Eddie. Then Shannon died and Eddie became a bachelor too but him being a widow overshadowed that role for a while. Buck is still treated as the dedicated bachelor of the group.
Now we’ve got both Buck and Eddie going in and out of relationships both being the bachelors. The difference and the reason id like them to make Eddie the dedicated bachelor of the group rather than Buck is that Buck more or less has done the growing and searching to find himself. While Eddie has stagnated, very little self reflection as shown with the whole outcome of the doppelgänger/Chris moving to Texas plot (which could just be the show failing to deliver on deep and meaningful stories for Eddie but either way to me it comes off as Eddie not growing).
So to me I’d like the show to leave Eddie single and let him be the one to struggle with finding himself (which would be interesting stuff to go into but the show has squandered the juicy concepts last season for Eddie by not delving into the Shannon of it all. Plus it’s Ryan, and he can fuck off. And if I’m being honest he doesn’t have the chops to do delve the emotional depths that plot would require, he’s decent at funny/light hearted stuff but questionable at the serious stuff).
And for Buck to finally settle down in a relationship (my liking would be Tommy) and for them to finally explore what a Buck who’s settled into a relationship would look like. What new drama that would allow them to go into. A new direction for a Buck that’s been allowed to finally grow even further.
But I doubt they’ll do that, it’s clear Ryan wants Eddie to end up with a woman relatively soon (so to me they’ll likely rush it). And Buck is still clearly the butt of every damn joke they can make. As proven by both Ryan and Tim calling Buck’s abandonment issues last season him throwing a tantrum and acting like a child.

I feel like this applies to Buck in season 1-2 where he’s just long and gangly. Like physically Buck would be a Great Dane, long awkward legs, and the amount of them I’ve seen try to be lap dogs feels like Buck.

Go fucking figure we’ve already got people straight up asking online where the show films outside because they want to watch… grow up, get a job, and stop being a piece of shit. Part of me hopes it goes badly for them (for them alone, for them to not bother the cast with their dumbass bullshit).

Part of me both can and can’t believe we’re still on the same “well he’s not the writer” (implying his opinion and what he’s comfortable with doesn’t matter) from subsection of a specific group when it comes to the actors.
Like it’s not surprising because it’s coming from the people who continually push past any respectable boundaries time and time again. Both physically, the stalking. And mentally, the way they harass the actors because they truly believe they’re dating. So it’s not surprising that they fully believe it doesn’t matter what the actor is comfortable with.
While the rational part of me is just screaming about how aggravating these people are with their complete lack of respect towards the boundaries the actors have with their work and what they will and won’t do. So yes when Ryan says Eddie is straight, when Eddie says he is straight, and when Ryan talks about the woman Eddie will end up with it’s a pretty clear boundary at what he’s comfortable with or is willing to do.
#911 fandom#fandom bullshit#911 fandom bullshit#fandom discourse#911 discourse#like I may not like Ryan but the job better fucking respect the boundaries that he or anyone else have

Do y'all ever think about the night Buck and Tommy first had sex and how Tommy slid his briefs down and Buck took one look at his hard wet dick and burst out laughing but Tommy didn't have a chance to feel hurt about it because Buck was wide-eyed and shocked and fascinated like "Oh shit, this is what they mean by monster cock I guess because there's no way I'm going to be able to fit even a quarter of that in my mouth, is this why your jeans are always so loose, I bet my thumb and my middle finger won't even touch when I hold it, how are you still conscious like at least 4/5ths of all the blood in your body has to be in that thing, have you ever knocked shampoo bottles off the side of the shower with it, how much does it weigh, wait I have a tape measure around here somewhere I want circumference numbers don't go anywhere!" while Tommy was standing there absolutely baffled and still turned on for some reason while Buck rummaged around in his little tool kit hard as a rock and babbling about how a dick that big had to noticeably affect Tommy's center of gravity?

“When you look like that it makes me want to touch you, and takes me back to when you were mine” and it’s just the “you wanna tour” scene for BuckTommy. Bonus points for it being the outfits from the breakup scene so quite literally “looking like when you were mine”.

I’ve felt this way for awhile and am gonna say it again. I think Eddie should have left the show this season. While I like the potential Eddie has as a character, the show rarely uses it. And with it being Ryan as the actor yeah no I don’t care enough about it. His story would have been better had he went to Texas for the job, would have been a better way to wrap it up. I get not wanting to get rid of two mains the same season, but to me in my personal opinion it would have been better if he had left too.
More rambley thoughts about Ryan and the stuff he said under the line,
I’m not surprised he did it, because one let’s be honest it’s very very obvious when he doesn’t try and two his ego. I’m not saying he’s the worst out there with his ego but he’s one of the later mains to come in and isn’t as big of a name compared to say Jennifer love Hewitt who also came in in season two. Sooo like yeah the others will get more first. That list is there for a reason. I’m also not not saying he doesn’t have an ego problem because it was a dick thing to say when you still have the job.
And I get when you feel like you aren’t being respected you don’t want to put maximum energy into it and I’m not saying he’s should be intentionally disrespected. But once again this is Ryan, I can’t make myself care all that much. Also if i can be completely blunt he’s definitely the weakest acting in my opinion, he has his moments but a lot of the time it’s few and far between. So I could see some of it being cut because it wasn’t great and other things took higher precedent.
And if I’m being honest again while sometimes they definitely did put Eddie to the side, other times they did put the time into Eddie and his story. It’s a balance, one that the show struggles with but still. Plus what he’s describing isn’t really exclusive to him. Hen this season was back burner a whole lot more than she should have been. That’s just the show having bad time management for all their characters, not just Ryan and not just Eddie.

BuckTommy friend with benefits post 8x11 hookup. Where they keep falling back into bed with each other because they still want each other but have convinced themselves that the other doesn’t have feelings for them anymore so the physical is all they can have. But in reality they’re still both head of heels in love with each other and keep trying to talk down that hopeful part of them that wants to get back together.
