Art is a sport

One common thing I see among artists who are just starting out is that they are very precious about their work -- ironically, way moreso than experienced artists. They need to get every line JUST right, because in their mind, getting that line just right is what stands between the piece being bad and it being good. I was like that too, for so long that I'm still struggling to catch up because of how it hampered my progress.

Being precious about every line is kind of like a track sprinter starting a run, but then restarting every time their foot lands in any slightly suboptimal way. This is comes off as silly, because we know that the "unit" of what they are doing is a sprint, and that they would make their greatest progress by finishing the full sprints, because that's how they train.

Well, similarly, the "unit" of art is a finished piece. What stands between the sprinter and the time they want isn't 1 individual step, but 1000 sprints. What stands between the beginner artist and making art they like the look of isn't that 1 line, but, i'm sorry to say, 1000 pieces.

Taking note of any mistakes you made afterwards is something done by both the experienced artist and experienced sprinter -- this is healthy and helps you improve. But you can do that later, after you're done.

That line is good enough.

Raw Mermaid AU for my OCs that I've never written about on this blog, lol. Because mermay and because I like Jester's palette.

In this AU, the little mermaid (in our case, a siren) falls in love with a prince and decides to become human, but the price of magic is cruel: not pain when walking, but a complete rejection of her past as a siren, including her memories, powers, and appearance. She agrees to this, and the prince finds her on the shore, like in a classic fairy tale, and makes her his concubine, sweetly promising to make her his wife in the future. But oops: the wild nature and habits of the former siren, a sea predator, do not fit the accepted image of a noble lady, and the siren ends up on the street. After going through some shit, she finds her place in the pirate society, keeping a desire for revenge in her heart. And when a weird siren with an equally weird desire to get closer to her gets on her ship, she will take advantage of this opportunity.

There's wholesome ships and there's toxic ships, but I'd like to coin 'sodium chloride ships', where the individuals involved are both horrible and dangerous people, but somehow being together renders them surprisingly well-adjusted (if a little salty).

Having "a lot" of followers on tumblr is funny because probably 80% of them are ghost blogs who haven't been on here in like a decade.

It's like, no no, those aren't my followers, that's a graveyard! I'm the caretaker of a thousands of tombs. I love them, but they've been dead for seven years.

GUYS, remember the post i made about The Herta's rating? How it said "The score is limitless. It cannot be calculated!" and how that was different to all the other "rating invalid" characters we had before? WELL TURNS OUT IT WASN'T.

TURNS OUT IT WAS JUST A TRANSLATION ISSUE. In the original it was stated as same as the others but the EN translation team translated it differently this time.

Also apperantly the Chinese version they use on all the other "rating invalid" characters also means "limitless/undeterminable" so it's more of a different translation case rather than a mistranslation one.
