We have seen Mai

*Throughout her whole life sacrifice her happiness and impulses for parents’ happiness and their life-goals and aspirations. 

*Devoted to taking care of her baby brother and going to great lengths to maintain his safety. 

*Bullied and threatened by someone that could have been a best friend into joining war. 

*See she is a highly skilled and self-taught fighter. 

*See her fall in love. 

*see her have very true and human issues with said love interest, and does not allow herself to stand for anything less than she thinks she deserves.

*see she has emotional turmoil and perhaps even self-resentment brewing under her normally cool facade, which we learn is also something of a mask she has had to learn to hide behind over time. 

*See her, a normally collected and logical individual, give into almost desperate, manic attempts at trying to cheer someone she loves up, proving she is clearly hopeful to cheer them up, thus she takes it as a personal failure when said someone is sad. 

*Are told she allowed herself to break said careful cultivated, cool facade when her heart was broken. 

*See that she, despite all her wisdom and logic, is, like most everyone else in her country, someone under the delusion that her country is in the right. 

*See her willing to sacrifice not only her life, but also maybe said country’s so-called righteous war, and confront not only a powerful oppressor, but also a friend to save the one she loves–and his friends she literally does not give a damn about. 

*Know she goes to prison, probably as Azula’s new number one traitor lists. That can’t be a very thrilling experience. 

*See her emerge from prison somehow hopeful and optimistic about the future. 

*See her a year later, still devoted to a lover, but again not willing to let herself be mistreated. 

*See her choose respect and dignity over love. Fuck yeah, we did. 

*See her suffer through her family splitting up. 

*See her have to live through her family splitting up because she witnesses her father put them all in danger. Her father whom she knows loves her. Her father she has already sacrificed a lot of happiness in childhood for. Her father she clearly adores. 

*See Mai personally leave her father, choosing again respect, dignity, and what she feels is write over love. 

*See her helping her mother support the family now by getting a job in a small business. Mai, who grew up, a wealthy noble with so many servants sometimes bossing them around could be a casual, fun thing to do. 

*See her still going out of her way to protect her lover. 

*see her using less than ideal, rather questionable and maybe even cruel methods to protect her lover. See her less than pleased to be told this. 

*see her confronted with her father, who again is doing what see views as wrong. Sees her let her father go because, despite all the self respect or dignity or morals in the world, that’s her father, dammit, and she loves him. 

* Sees so much evidence that Mai is a complex, complicated person who still has a lot of self-finding and growing to do but is ultimately moved forward by love, just like literally all our other favorite characters. 

* Still sees her get abused and disrespected by the fandom. 

*feels very sad about this.

MODERATOR APPLICATIONS

🍃For Season of Change: A Kuvira Zine - Now Open🍃

A Legend of Korra Fan-Zine about The Great Uniter with a theme revolving around the seasons of spring and summer. 

Currently, we’re looking for 4 additional moderators to assist in the zine creation process.

All moderators must have:

✨good communication skills

✨good time management

✨a moderate to high amount of love for Kuvira

✨respect for all ships and others

✨a Discord account for zine communications (If you don’t have a Discord, we can help you through the process.)

// LEAD GRAPHIC DESIGN LEAD

Work with the Creative Director to design page layouts and graphics for the electronic PDF version of the Zine and potentially the physical version of the zine.

Work with Marketing Lead to design visual templates for social media advertisements, page icons, and banners

Graphic design background with experience in (and access to) Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (or similar software) is preferred.

// CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Assist the Lead Graphic Designer to design graphics for the electronic and physical versions of the zine

Coordinate drawing and writing prompts with the Production Leads to avoid having submissions too similar in pose or theme or written submissions about the same scenario

Will lead the design of the zine cover and zine merchandise (like pins and stickers) if merchandise is created. This person should have a keen creative eye and a solid sense of tone and mood.

// ASSISTANT PRODUCT MANAGER

Oversees production, conducts accountability checks on contributors

Assists with finalizing the PDF

Identify and assist the Production Leads with selecting potential manufacturers of physical zines and auxiliary merchandise

// MARKETING LEAD

Works with Creative Team and Contributors to design previews and promotional posts of the Zine across multiple social media platforms

Assists Production Leads with writing and posting advertisements, and project announcements

Experience managing or handling fandom accounts is preferred
