The fact that animals that care for their young will sometimes adopt others' lost or orphaned young to raise along their own is just funny to me. I know that it's all hormonal and there's no conscious thought involved in it, but the internal logic of it is so funny.
"Baby = success. More baby = more success. I have one baby and I found four other baby. I have five baby. I am being so fucking successful right now."

Nader Al-Anqar ( @abdalsalam2000 ) is a Palestinian teenager trying to raise money for his family of seven (parents, brothers, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew) to escape the genocide in Gaza, and for his father to get treatment for cancer.
He's been active on tumblr for a long while now, and was one of the first to have their campaigns vetted: #4 on the gazavetters list!
Nader and his family have lived through bombs, destruction, hunger, thirst and illness for so long, now. Recently, he was cut off from the rest of world with an internet blackout. Yesterday he nearly died today trying to get food for his family.
Nader and his family need our aid to eat, to survive, and to escape Gaza. Please help them.

every time you see a youtube video or editorial article titled something like "Why Are There No women in [typically male profession/specialty/hobby]", this is the reason. those articles are for the education of cis men, every woman or anyone who has been perceived as female will eventually acquire a roster of these stories. a lot of young boys as well, but not to the same extent. this comment was left below a video from Girl With the Dogs (youtube dog grooming channel) in which she discusses a situation where she was being stalked on a playground (she's 4'11") by a man who appeared to be deterred only by the fact that she had her large german shepherd with her, which i have also experienced since getting my own large german shepherd. not a single man on the street has been rude to me since my dog became an adult, as long as the dog was physically with me. i genuinely think large dog handling confidence and skill is a feminist issue that should be discussed more in this context, and i think more women should have medium sized or large, capable dogs that, importantly, they actually know how to handle. i just dont have to be constantly monitoring my surroundings anymore, because the dog is doing it for me and he knows that's his job. all i have to do now is monitor the dog. one weird trick, trauma-informed therapists hate her etc

The original 'virgin vs chad' meme
I feel like everyone is sick of those stupid soyjack vs Chad "my opinion is good and based and correct, your opinion bad and wrong and stinky" memes by this point, as they're some of the lowest forms of current internet 'humor.' But precisely because those memes are so bad and also everywhere, I feel it's worth giving some credit to the fact that the original "The Virgin Walk / The Chad Stride" was actually a brilliant meme.
"The Virgin Walk" image showed up first, and it was standard 4chan stuff - which is to say, highly negative. Just a whole bunch of random small traits that people can have, bundled together in an accusatory way to try and make people insecure about them having "virgin" posture, by the kind of people who genuinely worries about being an "alpha male" (Or possibly pointing out their own flaws as a form of self-hatred, flip a coin when it comes to 4chan)
Tumblr media
And then, on another thread, someone made the Chad Stride edit to go along with it.
Tumblr media
It's a great piece of satire by how simple it is. Just by taking the traits listed in the original image, then inverting and exaggerating them, the result is an absurd caricature of a man who does not (and should not) exist. Through exaggeration, it demonstrates how the people who constantly worry about seeming 'Chad-like' are chasing after behaviour that is utterly unhinged and disconnected from reality.
I think this gif demonstrates it perfectly by putting it in motion:
Tumblr media
Virgin is a normal, if insecure dude. Chad is an absolute fucking maniac. (Not to mention all the references to violence in the image)
So, while it did degrade into those awful soyjak memes we all know and hate because that is the nature of the internet, I feel like it's worth remembering that in the original image that spawned this entire trend, you're supposed to laugh at Chad. You shouldn't want to be Chad, because he's the menace to society [ credit to the gif's creator: https://x.com/art_miguelito/status/1107313740033212417 ; thanks to @softwaring for linking it ]

Until we reached the point, somewhere in the 20th century that we could reproduce nearly any kind of lace mechanically, the use of lace in any quantity was a easy way to assess the relative wealth of a person. Since the development of machine laces of wide variety, its immediate psychological and social effect has been diminished.
In 1865 when this superb ball gown was created, a few laces, most notably Chantilly lace, were becoming increasingly available. The lace we see in use here, however, is hand made. Draped in deep swags around the widest point of the skirt, there are clearly several yards of this lace in use. We are looking at the work of probably a number of lace makers working in tandem over a period of months to complete this.
Coming from our perspective in the 21st century it is hard to gauge how profound an impact this would have had on those who saw this at a ball somewhere. Anyone with any interest of knowledge of dress whatever would have instantly known just how very costly this gown was.
The dress is made of as shell pink silk moiré. The huge, slightly trained skirt has its volume controlled to the waist with a series of wide box pleats. The lace swags are held at the top with matching moiré bows. The neckline and sleeves of the bodice are decorated with cotton netting that has been ruched and held in position with narrow bands of the moiré. There is also a gathered band of lace to complete the look.
Collection of the Hallwylska Museet.
