Alpine Yodeling. when people hear Alpine Yodeling they think of The Lonely Goatherd from The Sound of Music. One factor is yodeling is involved. But the real question remains. Is it really Alpine Yodeling? The answer is no it is not even though it is a very fun and touching song. Some people say The Lion Sleeps Tonight is a yodeling song but I on the other hand beg to differ. When I think of Alpine Yodeling I think of someone dressed in traditional Swiss, German, or Austrian clothing with feathers in their hats or Dirndls getting their yodel on. There are many types of yodeling..... If you stay in Apenzell Switzerland for new years, chances are that you will see people running to your hotel with walking sticks, In the fallen snow, twisting their bodies to ring the massive cowbells and yodeling, Their yodeling is very beautiful. It is quiet but it sure is lovely. But you do not have to stay around for New Years in order to hear the Zauerli. You can go to a concert to hear it too. The Muthothal region of Switzerland has yodeling of their own that is very should I say explosive? They have yodels loud enough for all of Switzerland to hear. After all, loud was the voice of the Lonely Goatherd. Watching people yodel. Have any of you been to Switzerland and witnessed first hand traditional Alpine yodeling? Well, if you have not it is quite an amazing sight. I strongly suggest looking online to see when there are events happening that involve yodeling. But Switzerland is full of Surprises. There could be people randomly yodeling together as a group on the street in a circle or at a nearby hotel.... I personally believe that once you hear someone or a group of people yodeling you will break out in goosebumps, your eyes will start watering and your bottom lip will start to quiver. That is what happened to me when I heard the real deal in Switzerland. Yodeling is culture. Yodeling is music, yodeling was communication many years ago when the herders brought their cows up to the mountains to stay with them. Now it is touristy which is a shame because I think yodeling is something that should never die out. Yodeling is breathtaking. Give it a try . Yodeling is a call to a shout of great joy. Yodeling on the Alps is like a tennis game. Once you serve that yodel, the reply of your yodeling is served. They yodeled to say How u doin? If you go to Bavaria Austria or Switzerland, try to talk with a yodeler. They have yodeling classes that you can attend and you can get a major in yodeling in Switzerland. Yodelers are amazing people. Believe me! the hills are indeed alive.
