Ok, every one take a deep breath...
And say "fuck you, Tamlin"
Trust me it helps.

I love how humans have literally not changed throughout history like the graffiti from Pompeii has people from hundreds of years ago writing stuff like “Marcus is gay” “I fucked a girl here” “Julius your mum wishes she was with me” and leonardo da vinci’s assistants drew dicks in their notebooks just for the banter and mozart created a piece called “kiss my ass” so when people wish for ‘today’s generation’ to be like ‘how people used to’ then we’re already there buddy we’ve always been

Visible Mending
Introduction:
Visible mending is a decorative way to fix up an item. Instead of trying to make your mend as invisible as possible, the idea is to make it part of the garment's design.
Visual mending is not a single technique: it's more of a mindset. If you've got an item you love, it deserves to be mended, and if you're going to put that love into stitches, why not show them off?
That being said, there are some specific techniques that are popular with visible menders. Let's take a look!
Sashiko:
Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery that is used to both decorate and reinforce fabric. In visible mending, sashiko is often used to cover up holes with patches or to reinforce thinning fabric. This technique uses a variation on the running stitch.

Embroidery:
Regular embroidery is also a popular technique to accentuate your mends. Check out my embroidery 101 post to learn how to get started. You can embroider patches, or use embroidery to hide or accentuate any stitches you've made to fix holes. Embroidery's also a great way to cover up stains.

Patches:
There are many ways to add patches to a garment. My tutorial on patches is a good place to start if you want to make custom-shaped patches to sew on top of your fabric. You can also sew your patch on the inside of your garment and have it peek out from beneath the hole you're trying to fix. Fun ideas for this are lace or superheroes.

Darning:
Darning is a technique used to repair holes in fabric by using running stitches to weave extra fabric over the hole as to fill it up again. While traditionally darning is done in an invisible way by using the same colour of thread as your fabric, you can also use contrasting colours to accentuate your fix. Check out this written tutorial on darning by TheSpruceCrafts.

Conclusion:
Visible mending is a creative way to fix up your clothes and give them some personality at the same time.
You should be proud of the fact that you took the time and learned the necessary skills needed to mend your clothes! Show off what you did!
A fun side effect of wearing these obvious mends is that people will notice them. They'll remember your fixes the next time they're faced with a hole in their wardrobe, and it will make them more likely to try it for themselves.
These are just a few ways to visibly mend your garments. Want more inspiration? Check out Pinterest or r/Visiblemending on Reddit.

Okay, I said I’d share the process for repairing my jeans, so here we go.
Step 1: Gather materials.
So I’ve got the clothes that need mending, an embroidery hoop, chalk (ended up being useless, so ignore), embroidery thread in different colors (going for autumn colors this time), and needles.
Apparently you can use a stabilizing material, but I’m a bit of a dumbass and did not.
Step 2: Prep
So, I used my sewing scissors and snipped off the loose threads from around the rip. Do NOT skip this step. I left the threads on the smaller tear and ended up having to snip them off later anyway, since they kept getting in the way.
If you’ve noticed I removed the hoop...
yeah. Turns out it was a lot easier for me to do the repairs from the back of the fabric, so i turned the jeans inside out and re-placed the hoop. Anyway-
Step 3: start the repair
So I started going vertical, since that was the shorter distances between sides of the rip.
First color
Second color
Third
And first pass done!
This is actually from a few days later. I forgot to snap a pick same day, and I had to pause to get a larger hoop. So if you scroll back you’ll see that the horizontally, the ripped section is wider than the 5” hoop.
And I’m just shy of tumblr’s max photo limit so I’ll post the rest on the reblog.

journalling for beginners
i began keeping journals about a year ago, and believe it’s a wonderful hobby for just about anyone!
keeping track of various things in your life can bring a number of benefits, you can begin to recognise all the small things you feel grateful for, and help you process difficult situations - it can help you learn about yourself, find your voice and talk about things you might be uncomfortable to do so out-loud.
tips for a daily journal ;
📕 it doesn’t really have to be daily, it should be something you enjoy, and if you don’t have the energy, there’s no need to beat yourself up
🖊️ if you are running low on energy, but still need to get your thoughts out, you can always just do some doodles, short sentences or scribbles, just to help you untangle your mind
📕 sharing pictures of your journal is fun, but it’s best to feel open and free in what you write - i find it beneficial to keep a journal just for me, so i feel comfortable adding anything
🖊️ be honest with yourself, you don’t need to put on a performance for anyone else here
📕 date your entries to help you keep track of your moods and thoughts
🖊️ not feeling up for self-reflection? record simple things - draw an object nearby, write about an animal you saw, or make a list of things you did today
📕 don’t put pressure on yourself, your journal doesn’t need to be aesthetically pleasing, or beautifully written, you don’t need to have perfect grammar or a fancy notebook to enjoy journalling
