The western part of the Ganges Delta in Bangledesh (India border near the left; Calcutta just at center edge). This is the world's largest delta, being more than 200 km (125 miles) in straight distance along the Bay of Bengal. The delta results from deposition of heavily silt-laden waters of the Ganges and the Brahmaputra Rivers, both transporting sediment from the Himalayas far to the north.
