Book 1 of 2023:

This is a great book to read as an intro to structural racism. To say that it’s basic feels very unfair because I believe it’s meant to be just that. In order to even begin to learn, you have to step outside of yourself and process uncomfortable thoughts and feelings about race. You have to understand your own problematic points of view, comments, & unconscious biases. This book will put it in perspective. The author does repeat herself at various points in the book & perhaps it’s to drive home certain points but for that reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 ⭐️

I just realized that most of the women that I know, have been physically abused by men. All these women, myself included, have been beaten by their father/brother/cousin/uncle/boyfriend or husband. Men we’re supposed to trust and who make us believe they love us. Don’t get me started on the emotional abuse! What I also noticed is that most of these women (myself included) who were abused at home attract abusive men later on.
