Towing a Fifth Wheel: What You Need to Know
Towing a fifth wheel is similar to pulling a trailer, but not exactly the same. A fifth wheel tends to be more stable than a trailer hitch, for example, allowing smoother pulling and less sway. But connecting a trailer to the bed of your truck causes the trailer to pull differently as well. For larger travel homes, Nohr’s RV Center recommends using a fifth wheel, but we want you to be more informed about the process as well.
Tumblr media
Making Deep Turns
Keep in mind that your trailer wheels do not follow your truck wheels in turns, they cut inside them. This means that turning normally could pull your trailer into the line of travel of other vehicles. To get around this problem, make what is known as “deep turns,” pulling as far into the intersection or beyond the driveway as you can before beginning the turn. Keep in mind that the longer the trailer, the more room you will need to maneuver it.
Practice Makes Perfect
Do not expect to hook up a fifth wheel for the first time and everything fall exactly into place. In fact, your first destination should be an empty parking lot or other wide open space where you can safely get the hang of towing a fifth wheel. A lot of things will be different, including the time it takes to stop, your minimum turning radius and the visibility behind your truck. When you can routinely maneuver through an empty parking lot, you will be ready to set out on the open road.
Safety Always
Don’t try to cut corners in regards to safety. Your travel home can be a dangerous object if it is not treated properly. Check the tire pressure before every trip, and inspect the tread depth every 10,000 miles or so. Inside the RV, avoid putting too much weight on one side, and secure your belongings before pulling out of the driveway.
The Laws of Physics
Everything about the way your truck handles will be different with a fifth wheel connected. Turns must be made more widely. It will take longer to slow down or stop. Even the feel of the steering wheel will be altered by the trailer. The good news is that a fifth wheel sways or “floats” less than a standard hitch trailer, and is far less likely to try to jackknife in a hard-driving situation. The laws of physics apply to external forces as well, and you will notice the difference on steep grades or driving in heavy winds.
Nohr’s RV Center has been around since the 1960’s, and we have a lot of experience with fifth wheels and recreational vehicles of all types. Our passion is the RV lifestyle, and we would be happy to share our knowledge with you. If you have any questions or concerns about towing a fifth wheel, call or come by our location today.

Kid Space: Finding a Motorhome with Room for the Youngest Travelers
Once you get a taste for life on the road, it may be difficult to stop traveling. The good news is that whether you are out for the weekend or setting off on a long haul, living in an RV with young kids is a great way to spend your time. If you are just getting started, Nohr’s RV Center has new, used, and consignment motorhomes ready to help you live the life of your dreams.
Tumblr media
Built-In Baby Proofing
Infants will need room to move around, but your RV interior is more than sufficient for most situations. Because all of your gear and furniture has to be secured when driving, you can take advantage of the same clips, straps, and fasteners to make the area more secure for small children when you are parked. There will be a few exceptions which require traditional child-proofing tactics, but a lot of the work is already done for you.
Teaching While Traveling
It is possible to travel full time and still give your kids an excellent education. For this, it may be a good idea to look at the Montessori Method and how it minimizes the classroom setting in favor of hands-on learning. You can pick up a starter curriculum for kids online, and then expand into the materials you need when it comes time to specialize.
Games and Video
The best RVs have a built-in entertainment center, but you can always add your own TV. Even better, an old smartphone can connect to your mobile hotspot and stream movies individually to your kids. Include headphones to reduce the noise level, and everyone will have a good time. Still, there are times when a DVD player is the best option and days when a deck of cards is the game of choice. Keep a resealable container with dice, playing cards, pencil & paper, and any other small commonly played games such as Uno or Phase 10.
Outside Playtime
Keep in mind that you still need to devote time and space for your kids to move around and be active. Be sure to carry a heavy duty tarp that you can spread a blanket on for outdoor activities, and possibly some kid-sized chairs. If you are homeschooling on the road, this setup can be used for instruction time as well. Make it a practice for everyone to get at least an hour of outside time even while you are traveling - more if your schedule permits.
Sweet Dreams in Close Quarters
The easiest way to create a sleeping space for kids is to convert the overhead storage to a bunk. That would mean keeping everything in that area in movable containers or using another storage method altogether, but the process is simple enough. Some RVs have the bunk built-in or convert your own space, but be sure to put some thought into making it a kid-friendly sleep space.
At Nohr’s RV Center in Tracy, California, we have a variety of motorhome sizes to fit small families and large families alike.  Stop in today to see how a motorhome can be fun for the kids and adults.

RV Slideouts: What are the Benefits?
Slideout models help RV owners get more space without breaking highway width considerations. If you think slideouts may be the answer for you, Nohr’s RV Center will be happy to give you some pointers on choosing the right fifth wheel, travel trailer, or other model for your family. Begin with some of the major benefits of slideouts, and consider how they can be helpful to you this summer and for years to come.
Tumblr media
Instant Space
Using a slideout can be as easy as pushing a button. Instantly adding square footage to your motorhome can be as easy as activating a hydraulic system or using the electric controls. When you are parked for a few days, or inclement weather keeps you in, your family will appreciate the extra space provided.
Traveler’s Rest
You may not think it at first glance, but the slideouts in your RV can be the difference between sleeping 4 or sleeping 6 or more. The innovative slideouts in modern RVs are designed to provide the most access and comfort, allowing your family to better enjoy your home away from home. Having the extra room makes your RV a little more useful, and that could translate into more trips and visits to distant locales.
For the Long Haul
The RV lifestyle is an intriguing one, always beckoning you to longer, more exciting adventures. Over time, having the extra conveniences available from your slideouts can be a gamechanger. You will be certain to gain accessories and optional equipment over time, and the slideouts can make it possible to carry just a little bit more for that next great cross-country journey. As a rule, the farther you plan to travel and the longer you expect to remain on the road, the more beneficial slideouts can be.
Added Value
In a motorhome, interior space is measured in square footage. Slideouts increase the area available, and that means your RV automatically gains value over comparable models without slideouts. People are always looking for bigger and better motorhomes, and Nohr’s RV Center offers consignment services as well as new and used RV options. Whether you want to get into a unit with slideouts, or have decided it is time to sell, we would be happy to help you get the best deal with the least hassle.
For some, a camper van is more than enough, but others enjoy a more roomy and relaxed stay when they are parked. To get the most room available, slideouts are the best option available and offer advantages to both comfort and value. If you would like to take a look at an RV with slideouts, stop by Nohr’s RV Center today.

Getting your RV organized for Summer Travel
Summer is about to kick into full speed, and the roads are calling you to your RV. But before you set out on the next family adventure, Nohr’s RV Center wants to help you have a safer, better-organized excursion. Keeping everything in its place will reduce waste, prevent spills, and go a little way towards making your RV travels a bit more fun.
Top to Bottom
Organize storage areas so that the heavier items are closest to the floor. A box of crackers falling out of the top cabinet is not likely to hurt anyone, but a gallon of water falling from the same height could cause injuries as well as a sopping mess. Along the same lines, try to reduce the number of glass containers and liquids you carry, and never store them above waist level if you are traveling.
Baskets and Boxes
Canned goods are a necessity, but they can easily tip and fall during road trips. To eliminate this problem, put cans and bottles in boxes or baskets so that even if they fall over, they cannot go far. By storing packed baskets in your RV, you also have the ability to quickly move items about to get to a specific item, and then put it all right back where it was before without a lot of extra effort. A small basket is also an excellent way to store your spices so they can be easily moved outside when the BBQ begins.
Emergency Supplies
You never know what the next roadside hazard will be, so it is important to be prepared for nearly anything. Roadside flares and reflectors, high beam flashlights, and an assortment of commonly used tools should all be within easy reach. If you have the room, consider keeping your emergency equipment in a plastic storage container that can be taken outside if needed. You might even want to hang a portable light from a broom clip to have it readily available at all times.
Know Your Inventory
The better you know what you have brought along on the journey, the easier it will be to organize and use. Try to put similar items in the same box, and weed out unnecessary things which are only taking up space. Carrying items that you will never use takes up a lot of precious cargo space, and that means you are more likely to have spillage and breakage and things generally getting in the way.
Keep in mind that a well-organized interior is only helpful if everything outside the vehicle is working properly. Before each trip, perform a complete vehicle inspection and repair or replace any worn or broken items. Nohr’s RV Center offers complete RV servicing to make sure your organizational skills can be put to the test of long distance highway driving.

RVing with Family
Nohr’s RV Center is your one-stop solution for everything related to recreational vehicles and travel trailers. If you are worried about having enough room to accommodate your children while on the road, take a look at a brief description of the different types of RVs on the market, and consider the possibilities of taking your summer home on the road.
Tumblr media
Class B Motorhomes
A couple with an infant can do well in a smaller motorhome. A Class B RV is basically a large van equipped with the comforts of a small apartment. While there won’t be much room for the baby to crawl around in the evenings, there is plenty of space for the necessities, from toys to a baby’s cradle.
Just because you have a smaller RV, there is still a lot to be proud of. Modern motorhomes use cutting-edge technology to provide ample space and comfortable cooking, seating, and sleeping arrangements. The outside may still resemble a van, but the inside of newer models have everything you might need in an apartment, from entertainment options to plush beds that can be easily hidden away.
Class C Recreational Vehicles
With children old enough to walk around, your family may be better served with a Class C RV. These mid-range motorhomes can comfortably sleep anywhere from 6 to 11 people, with enough storage and seating for everyone to be comfortable. Perfect for an average family to see the whole country, this size of RV is excellent for touring.
Some models include built-in generators, and they all contain features that will make your trips a memorable experience. Sometimes called a mini-motorhome, many Class C models include additional space over the cab for sleeping, and some extended models may include a storage or equipment space extending from the back.
Class A RVs
The largest size range for motorhomes is the Class A RV, and there’s plenty of room for the whole family. These models are literally a home on wheels, including everything you would find in a stationary dwelling, albeit scaled down for convenience and space. No matter how large your family is going to be, a Class A motorhome is capable of keeping everyone comfortable and entertained. Unlike Class B and C RVs, a Class A model is built on an extended frame rather than a modified van or panel truck frame.
A Class A motorhome will have it all, from electric lights to storage inside as well as below the living space. For those who choose to live the nomadic lifestyle, a Class A motorhome provides it all, including full sized beds, and enough room to move around while everyone enjoys the mobile lifestyle. To get a better idea of what each class of RV has to offer, come to Nohr’s RV Center and let us give you a tour.

Basic Maintenance Check for your Motorhome
As spring gets underway, it is time to make sure your RV is operating at full efficiency. With thousands of miles of America to the east, the readiness of your motorhome is crucial to arriving at the next national park, hidden treasure, or family outing. At Nohr’s RV Center, we want you to have a safe and exciting RV adventure, and that means setting a little time aside to do a basic maintenance check for your motorhome, tuning it up, checking the AC, and ensuring that everything you need is ready to go.
Tumblr media
Under the Hood
Regularly scheduled maintenance is vital to ongoing, smooth operation of your RV. Be sure to change any applicable filters, including oil, air, and hydraulic filters. Top off fluids such as brake fluid, engine coolant, oil and transmission fluid. Be sure to check the belts and have the engine cleaned - a clean motor operates cooler and more efficiently.
Around the Edges
Perform a complete inspection of the outside of your motorhome. Check the headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and the tag light. During your inspection, look for loose bolts or screws, and make sure there are no leaks on the top or around the corners and edges. Be sure to look under the RV as well to be certain that there are no wires or hoses hanging loosely enough to be a potential danger during operation.
In the Back
Inside the RV, check all electronics, including lights, plumbing, and your generator. It is also a good idea to make sure your safety equipment is in place and in ready condition. This includes a set of roadside reflectors, a good spare tire and tire changing equipment, and such things as emergency water. While you are at it, go ahead and stock up on supplies such as rain gear, blankets, and travel foods. Once the equipment has been checked and your gear is packed, you are almost ready to hit the road.
Stop and Go
Before setting off on every adventure, check your brakes, including the parking brake. You can verify that the alignment is in good condition by setting the steering tire straight and checking that the steering wheel is in the upright position. Check the tread on your tires. If there is wear replace the tires, and take note of where the wear is. Tires which wear out on the inner or outer corners may indicate an alignment or suspension problem which needs to be looked at by a professional.
After complete maintenance and necessary repairs, it is time to pack up and hit the road. Be sure to pack items so they will not roll around or fall over during travel. If you have gear attached to the back or roof, check it frequently during your trip and tighten any strap or tie downs as often as necessary. Nohr’s RV Center has a team of factory trained and certified technicians available, so contact us with any mechanical or technical problems you may have.

Spring RV Trips to Take this Weekend
Spring is nearly here – we’re back on daylight savings time after all. As snow throughout the mountains begins to melt, mountain streams will pick up in anticipation of wildflowers. While higher elevation locations may not be accessible yet, many coastal and lower lying areas are ready for a spring trip in your RV.
Tumblr media
Coastal Trips
The coast begins to come to life in the spring, but usually does not yet have the crowds of summer. It can make for a wonderful trip.  A weekend RV trip is a great way to experience the California coast. And because it’s California. there are most certainly several choices for your weekend trip to the coast.
     - Wine Country - North of the Bay Area is wine country as well as amazing coastal spots. This includes the Point Reyes National Seashore and Stinson Beach areas. Mountain biking and hiking are great spring activities. Outside the amazing natural areas, there are many coastal seafood restaurants, as well as wineries, breweries, and restaurants in nearby Petaluma, Sonoma, and Napa.
     - Big Sur - Every RVer should experience Big Sur at some point. One of the most iconic coastlines in America, Big Sur is full of treasures. From the idyllic McWay Falls on the coast to the ancient redwoods in the mountains, Big Sur is exceptional. A trip to Big Sur can also be combined with a trip to Monterey, for a chance to visit its famous aquarium, go golfing, or do some shopping.
     - Morro Bay / San Louis Obispo: Traveling down the 5 to San Louis Obispo brings you to the (northern) southern California coast. This area is full of small town charm, with local restaurants, wineries, and shopping. Be sure to try the salt water taffy in Morro Bay.
Eastern Areas
     - Big Trees State Park - Big Trees State Park is a lower-elevation area and where you can see the giant sequoia trees. Lose yourself on reclined benches as you reflect on these living marvels of nature. The nearby Stanislaus National Forest also has great hiking opportunities and you can continue up the mountain to discover amazing landscapes and cozy small towns
     - South Lake Tahoe - Starting in spring, the waterfalls in the South Lake Tahoe area begin to really get going. It’s a great opportunity to discover the Lake Tahoe area without the crowds.
Northern Mountain Areas
     - Shasta Lake - The areas near Redding are often accessible earlier in the season than some of the eastern mountains.  Shasta Lake was created by the Shasta Dam, which finished in 1948 and offers amazing views of the surrounding mountains as well as the 602 foot high dam. The city of Redding is also nearby to stock up on supplies.
      - Mendocino National Forest - This recreational area is terrific for spring with great recreational activities such as ATVing, hiking, and boating.  Stop by Clear Lake or Lake Berryessa for great views and a relaxing afternoon.
At Nohr's RV Center in Tracy, California, we have a wide variety of different RV styles available to help you make your weekend trips happen.  We work with our customers to find the perfect fit for them. Stop by our RV dealership today!

What you need to know: Towing an RV
Many RV owners go with travel trailers rather than self-powered RV's. Not only is a travel trailer more affordable, you will also have a secondary vehicle handy so that you can easily explore your destination. Self-powered RVs can make it difficult to get around and to find parking in busy lots. If you are planning to purchase a travel trailer or a fifth wheel, you should know a few tips about towing the RV safely.
Tumblr media
#1 Make Sure You Have an Appropriate Tow Vehicle
Just because you have a truck and a tow hitch, it doesn't mean that your vehicle is capable of towing your RV. You should check the towing capacity of your vehicle and compare it with the weight of the trailer. Don't forget to add the weight of your belongings that are in the RV. If you try to pull a load that your vehicle cannot handle, it can cause serious safety issues. Also, it could void your insurance policy is there is an accident.
# 2 Pack Light
It is best to pack light when you are traveling. Water can weigh up to 8 pounds per gallon. To avoid dragging this load hundreds of miles, you should fill your tank right before arriving at your destination. Also, pack only the things that you will need. The lighter the load, the easier it is to tow.
#3 Weight Distribution
Weight distribution in the RV is very important when towing. It is best to put 60 percent of your belongings in the front of the RV and no more than 40 percent in the back. If you don't distribute the weight properly, you could lose control when driving to fast or taking a turn.
#4 Drive Slowly
Because you are pulling so much weight behind you, everything will take longer. If you need to slow down or stop, you need time to do so safely. Even speeding up can take time. There is no specific speed that you should drive when towing; however, if you don't keep it slow and stick to the lower side of the speed limit, you could lose control of your vehicle and your RV.
#5 Never Slam On the Brakes
When you are towing your RV, you won't be able to stop on a dime. If you attempt to slam on the brakes, you could end up skidding off the road, jackknifing, or flipping the RV. Many trailers today come with electronic brakes that help you stop quickly during an emergency; however, they aren't fool-proof. If you stop too quickly, it can result in disaster. The best way to keep this from happening is to drive the speed limit, stay at least two car lengths behind the car in front of you, and always remain alert.
An RV is a great way to travel with all of the comforts of home. If you are planning to buy a travel trailer or a fifth wheel, you should know how to tow the RV safely.  If you are looking at purchasing a travel trailer or fifth wheel, the sales staff at Nohr’s RV will work with you to determine if the vehicle you have is equipped for your new RV.  Plus, we’ll help you get comfortable with towing the RV by sharing tips from other RV owners.  Visit us today to see all the options for towable RVs!

RV Trends for 2018
Is the lure of the open road calling your name? Buying an RV allows you to travel with home comforts. The hardest part will be picking the right model for you and your loved ones to enjoy. In the past, "the bigger the better" motto was thought to be ideal for traveling. Even though many still opt to buy larger RVs, the growing trends for 2018 may surprise you.
Tumblr media
Fuel Efficient
Part of the growing trend for travelers is picking out units or trailers to be towed behind an SUV or minivan. Many still desire the open road adventure but with an economic twist. Smaller RVs or pull behind trailers tend to be more aerodynamic in design which helps cut fuel costs.
The new sleeker designs help in the towing process. The easy to tow feature is a big selling point. The smaller options allow travelers to keep their current vehicle without having to upgrade to a larger, more fuel consumption model.
Customizable Designs
The concept of one size fits all in no longer valid for RV sales. Everyone wants a unique travel experience. The RV must match their travel needs. Depending on the style of RV, the floor plan options may include:
Master bedroom
Capability to sleep up to 10
Special areas for children or pets
Bathroom with full functioning toilet and shower
Entertainment areas including video and audio options
Storage bins, closets, pantries
Full kitchen with countertop space
LED lighting
Awnings
Heating and cooling units
Storage for bikes or kayaks
Visiting a reputable RV dealership is the best way to view different floor plans. Touring a variety of RVs allows you to make an informed choice based on your personal needs. Finding the right options for your travel needs may take time and research. Do not hesitate to ask questions. An informed salesperson will go over all the options available to help you find the right one.
Technologically Friendly
Living in today’s technological world means many individuals want to travel with a wide range of devices. RVs now come equip with numerous technologically friendly options.
Wi-Fi capability
Cell service boost
Satellite television
Charging stations
Longer battery life
Environmentally Friendly
Along with less fuel, many RV owners are looking for other environmentally friendly options. Incorporating solar power, wind power, energy and water efficiency into RV designs help attract new buyers. For example, smaller, sleeker solar panels fit on to the roof to help with heating, cooling, and other electrical consumption features.
Finding the right RV to fit your personal needs makes the travel experience an exciting adventure.  Stop by Nohr’s RV in Tracy, California today to learn about the different options.  From teardrop trailers to motorohomes, we have it all.  Our knowledgeable staff will work with you to find the best RV for you with all the creature comforts of home.

Learning to Drive a Motorhome
Tips for Safely Driving Your Motorhome the First Time
Driving an RV, especially for the first time, can be a bit intimidating. You may have heard a seasoned camper say these vehicles handle just like a car. This advice is not something you should believe as there are situations where you will need to handle these large vehicles differently to stay safe. Learning to drive a motorhome is unlike other vehicles you'll encounter on the road.
Tumblr media
The First Trip
The first trip in your motorhome can be something you've been anticipating for a long time. It is exciting to plan an adventure and schedule a road trip to fantastic places. It can also be a bit scary to get behind the wheel of a vehicle almost as big as your house. Remember that every truck, large RV, or any sizeable commercial vehicle you see on the road has a driver that had to make the first trip. They have all mastered the skill, and you will too. These are some tips to help make that first trip more comfortable and safe.
Driver's Seat
Being comfortable is one of your first concerns. Sit in the driver's seat before you set out and make sure it is adjusted to your height. Make sure all controls are within easy reach, and you can reach the pedals. Check all settings including the up and down, forward and backward, as well as the tilt of the steering wheel, so you are comfortable for long distance driving.
Mirrors
Unlike a car, the rearview mirror will have little use for you to check the road. These mirrors will only provide a view of what your passengers are doing inside the RV. The side mirrors are essential and your source of information for what is happening beside and behind you on the road. Make sure they are adjusted for proper viewing before beginning to drive.
Sharpen your Skills
Before you take off on the big road, sharpen your skills by finding a large empty parking lot and make some parking spaces if they aren't already defined. Practice backing up and pulling into the spaces as if they're campsites. Find ways to practice parking in tight spaces in case you have to back out or pull in between two other campers in a campground.
Build Your Confidence
One of the most important tips to follow when you set out on your first trip with a motorhome is to take it slow and build your confidence. If you find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings or difficult situations, be safe before you proceed and sure of what you are doing. Sometimes it's better to take a break and regain your confidence. While parking, you should get out of the vehicle and walk around the area to ensure you'll not hit something.
New drivers enter the world of motorhome driving every day. You are not alone feeling nervous about pulling out on your first trip, but know it will soon turn into confidence.  At Nohr’s RV Center, we are committed to helping you feel comfortable about your RV purchase, which includes ensuring that you know how to properly operate your new RV.  Looking for driving tips or need help getting prepared for first trip?  Stop by our RV Center in Tracy, California, today!

Storage Solutions for your RV
There's nothing more romantic than traveling around the country in an RV: living where you want to live, being able to pick up and move at a moment's notice (without all the packing and unpacking that usually goes into a move).
Tumblr media
Except, maybe, for the difficulty of packing everything you need into the limited storage space in an RV. With such limited space, what should be liberating can become stress inducing. Here are a few ways to maximize the storage space in your RV.
Customize your closet space. You've probably heard the saying, "A place for everything and everything in its place." Customizing your closet will help you make sure that every single thing has its place. More shelves, adjustable shelves, and organizers for the closet will ensure that there is no empty, unusable space in your closets. You can even mount organizers for small items to your cupboard doors to ensure no closet space goes unclaimed.
Utilize the space under furniture. Another overlooked source of storage space is often hidden from view...by your own furniture. Utilize this space by opting for furniture that offers hidden storage space - for example, a platform for your bed with drawers underneath, and storage benches for the table with pull-out storage.
When in doubt, pull it out. Speaking of pull-out storage, there is almost nowhere you can't improve your storage by installing a pull-out drawer or surface. Pull-out drawers tucked away under the dining table can hide silverware trays, office supplies, and other items you might need while sitting at the table. A pull-out cutting board or table surface can provide work space that folds away when not needed. Don't have room in the kitchen for a spice rack? A pull-down tray mounted underneath the cupboards can add shelf space where there wasn't any before.
Don't overlook wall and ceiling space. The key to making the most of your storage space is finding creative places to put things. Mounting organizers, magazine racks, and magnetic strips on the walls and the insides of cupboard doors makes this vertical space into  something useful. For instance, you can easily make an organizer headboard for your bed with a curtain rod, some cloth, and some sewing skills (or a hot glue gun if you can't sew), or use magnetic strips in the kitchen to keep utensils tucked away. You can even make the ceiling useful by hanging organizers, or by screwing mason jar lids to the ceiling and using the jars to keep things organized overhead.
Maximize Space...Minimize Stuff
While these suggestions can help make the most out of the space available to you, it's still important to remember the first rule of living light: Don't keep anything that you don't need. When you run a tight ship, you'll find it's easier to organize effectively and make space for everything you need.
At Nohr’s RV Center in Tracy, California, we offer a variety of RV sizes to meet your needs, whether your looking to travel light in a tent trailer or load up in motorhome for a cross-country trip.  Plus, visit us after your purchase for any questions you have about maintenance, storage solutions, or tips for traveling and our staff will be happy to help.  Visit us today!

Tent Trailers: How smaller RVs have changed
Camping Trends Lean Towards the Smaller Tent Trailer RV
Camping trends are leaning towards the smaller RVs. Many are choosing the smaller units according to RV sale trends from 2016. The trend has to do with lower financing as well as the new amenities RV manufacturers now include in the smaller units which often appeal to younger campers. The tent trailer also is known as the 'pop-up' camper, and they give campers an inexpensive passport to the camping adventure and provide a lot of entertainment and fun.
Tumblr media
Features of the Tent Trailer
The tent trailer will provide you with a lightweight unit you are able to break down and store easier than a hard-sided trailer. These trailers' canvas sides fold into the solid base trailer, under a hard roof to make a compact traveling unit. The canvas sides, when up and in use, are supported by a telescoping aluminum or steel frame. To put the camper up, you use a cranking system that easily allows you to put it up or take it down. The windows are plastic, large, and well insulated to give you a sense of freedom and being part of the big outdoors. You will enjoy the 'open air' atmosphere these trailers give you when camping out in nature. They make it feel as though you are camping in a tent, yet they provide you with excellent sleeping comfort and conveniences of the travel trailer RV.
Advantages of the Tent Trailer
With a tent trailer, you have the advantage of towing the unit with a medium sized car, SUV, or minivan. You do not need a unique towing vehicle when heading out with a tent trailer. These tent-style RVs will provide you with better gas mileage and smoother towing with their low profile design. Even the larger sized units have a reasonable base weight to give you more advantages to hauling than the travel trailer design RVs.
You may experience advantages with your tent trailer at many campgrounds. Some areas have length restrictions when their sites are too small, or their access roads are too narrow. These restrictions won't affect your choice of campsites as you will comfortably fit into places other campers wouldn't even think about trying. The tent trailer is light enough for you to remove from your vehicle and maneuver into the site by hand. This mobility advantage comes in hand when camping and when placing into the storage area at home.
Tent Trailers are Affordable
The cost savings of the tent trailer over the travel trailer is another advantage you'll appreciate. First-time buyers often find these units more price efficient and the perfect opportunity to experience the camping world. The lower price with included features and amenities make them the ideal camping experience.  If you are interested in checking out tent trailer RVs, contact Nohr's RV Center in Tracy, California.

RV Classes: What do the Different Types (A, B, C) Mean?
Deciding which motorhome will best fit your needs can be difficult. There are three separate classes of these recreational vehicles, all with distinctive differences that can make choosing one complicated. Knowing the disadvantages and advantages of each type will help you choose one to best fit your needs.
Tumblr media
Pros of the Class A Motor Home
The class A motorhome is distinctive by its boxy shape and large size. This class offers a lot of conveniences a home would have for you. With most of them measuring as long as 45 feet, you will find ample space when traveling. These motorhomes can sleep up to ten people, with most offering a master bedroom, dining sets that turn into sleeping quarters, and sofas. Kitchens and bathrooms in these are often larger than other class of RVs.
Cons of the Class A Motor Home
With a larger sized vehicle, you will find gas mileage is not as economical. Class A is the largest sized motorhome of the three classes which makes them harder to drive and harder to fit in many campgrounds.
Pros of the Class B Motor Home
The class B motorhome is the smallest type of motor homes which make them more fuel efficient. The kitchen and living areas are smaller than the A or C class models, but the price tags are much less than other classes. With the smaller size, you'll find them easier to park and navigate while traveling.
Cons of the Class B Motor Home
The class B motorhome works well for two people but does not offer as many amenities as the class A. Storage is limited on these units, and you may feel cramped when trying to move about in the living area.
Pros of the Class C Motor Home
The class C motorhome falls between the A and B classes when comparing size and amenities. They have a much friendlier price tag than the class A and are often built with a sleeping area over the cab. The class C will hold more passengers than the class B and is better on fuel than the class A.
Cons of the Class C Motor Home
The class C often doesn’t fit into the standard home garage or driveway. Their storage capacity is not as large as the class A and while they work well for family vacations, you may not be comfortable living in one full-time.

What Should You Look for When Buying an RV?
An RV is a major purchase, and it isn't a purchase decision you should make lightly. Some of the most important things to keep in mind include:

Which type of RV are you comfortable using? - If you're unaccustomed to hauling trailers or driving a bigger vehicle, a smaller RV may be a better fit.
Can you afford the purchase cost and other costs that come with RV ownership? - In addition to the initial purchase costs, you'll also need to consider insurance, maintenance, and other costs that may arise during camping season
Why Keystone RV Makes Everything Easier
Getting an RV from Keystone is a wise choice for anyone who wants a broad range of choices. Some of the options and example features include:

Is moving into an RV full time right for your family?
Tumblr media
Have you ever dreamed of living out of an RV full-time, being able to pick up and move whenever you want, perhaps even traveling freely while you earn your living from the road? It might sound ideal, but the reality can be more complex than you might anticipate. Moving into an RV full time is a big decision, so before you make the leap, make sure it's the right decision for you and your family. Here are a few things to consider.
Pets, kids, and square footage, oh my:
Are you prepared to live in the small space of an RV? Indoor pets or dogs that are familiar with camping work best. Children can quickly make the limited square footage feel even more cramped, and if you're planning on traveling frequently, you will also need to consider their schooling. With a little planning and a lot of outdoor adventures, however, anything is possible.
Downsizing:
Since space is at a premium in an RV, downsizing is an important part of determining whether you and your family can live the RV life. Some people get rid of everything, while others put important possessions in storage or tow it behind the RV in a trailer. However, if you find you can't stomach getting rid of enough to fit into the small space, it could be that RV living is just not right for you and your family.
Finances:
Living in an RV is not necessarily a way to save money. First and foremost, whereas a house increases in value and equity over time, an RV actually loses its value as it gets older, so it won't represent the same long-term investment as buying a house. Also, RV parks can be expensive, especially if you travel a lot, since the per-night cost is higher. You'll also need to figure out the cost of heating, gasoline, and storage. This being said, if you downsize ruthlessly to minimize your storage needs, and limit your travel to benefit from the savings of staying in one place for longer, you actually can save money.
To travel or not to travel:
Everyone who moves into an RV full-time does it for different reasons. Some want to travel, while others like the idea of a tiny house, only on wheels. Traveling has more expenses with it, of course, such as gasoline and the higher cost of short-term stays at campgrounds or RV parks. In addition, traveling may require that you either don't work, or that you have a job that enables you to work from the road. Staying in one place, on the other hand, will save money and benefit those with jobs that offer less flexibility.
Moving into an RV full-time is a big decision, so it's important to make sure it's the right choice for you and your family. Not convinced, but still want to try it? Try renting your home and putting your belongings into storage, so that you won't be locking yourself into an irreversible decision.
At Nohr’s RV Center, we have a variety of types of RVs available for you to test drive - from Class C to teardrop trailers and everything in between.  Visit us today to see what options are available for you.  Seeing the RVs in person will give you and your family a better understanding of whether you are ready to hit the road in an RV full time.
