Un-Synchronized Orchestra | Japan Philharmonic Orchestra from WOW inc. on Vimeo.
About the Work The "Yoichi Ochiai x Japan Philharmonic Project" started in 2018 with the theme of 'rebuilding an orchestra with technology.' WOW also participated in the '____ Orchestra,' in other words, the 'Un-Synchronized Orchestra' as a 'video instrumentalist' this year.
In contrast to the past two years of trying to make a place where you can experience a new attraction and value of the orchestra, this year, we were searching for ways the orchestra should be during the coronavirus. In addition to theater performances that had audiences in attendance with restrictions being set, online broadcasting was also done, with the aim of allowing you to be able to experience new attractions from two perspectives.
In theater performances, innovative music that has opened up an era in history and video images were projected on the screen. With online broadcasting, it gave you the actual feeling of being at a concert by using the industry's highest level of sound quality (AAC-LC384kbps) and 2K image quality that includes AR video. We tried to arrange a three-dimensional effect that could only be achieved digitally.
The visual experience of this performance is centered on the AR video of the online broadcast, and images are spread across the theater screen that synchronized, responded, and conflicted with the AR video. Each differed in their own way but were not superior or inferior in the value of the experience we provided. In addition, we aimed for a multiplier effect whereby the performances could be enjoyed from differing perspectives by having the viewers of the theater performances enjoying the online performances that were re-broadcast at a later date. We tried to get you to discover new value in each, by aiming for visual effects that bring you closer to a view of the music world from two differing perspectives.
The concert that was originally planned with the title '____ Orchestra' that was used up until the performance ended up being canceled due to the coronavirus, and so from there, we searched for a new concert, and in a state of trial and error, each viewer was trying to think long and hard about the words to put into the blank of the title. Just before the end of the performance, the word '____ ' was revealed, and a new music concert was born that sought out the way a music concert should be done during coronavirus, known as 'Un-Synchronized Orchestra.'

About the Exhibition During the 25 years since the establishment of Visual Design Studio WOW, we have consistently sought to expand our field of activities, based on the concept of tangible and intangible visuals being the focus of all visual design. This new exhibition, held to mark our 25th anniversary is not being planned as a retrospective of past works, but rather as a springboard to new challenges, looking ahead to our next landmark 30th anniversary. By “unlearn” we mean unraveling the things that we have learned to date, through both thought processes, and with our bare hands, to then reacquire them as a new and visceral part of our being. WOW, which has continually opened up new horizons in visual expression, will step up to the challenge of acquiring new forms of expressive power, all the while nourished by the skills and sensitivities we have believed in and nurtured until now. The driving creative force behind this exhibition is the up-and-coming creators who will take WOW forward to the next generation. Equipped with outstanding technical and expressive skills they are creating an exhibition suitable for the next generation. Visitors will be able to take the plunge into new frontiers of visual experiences that draw on 25 years of creativity while looking to the future. Details ▶︎ 25ex.wow.inc/en

Fabio Keiner - shiva-rudra from Marilyn Roxie on Vimeo.
From Fabio Keiner:
A modern visualization of Shiva's rage and power.
Words from the artist: ‘shiva-rudra’ - a longform ambient dronescape improvisation in honor of lord shiva, ecstatic creator and destroyer god of the hindu pantheon - was inspired to a great extent by the works and theoretical approach of italian vanguard composer and musician Giacinto Scelsi. I owe a lot to Scelsi’s music and understanding of sound; so 'shiva-rudra’ shall be a modest tribute to his works.
'shiva-rudra’ is a soundscape to be listened to as entire experience without interruption: eyes closed, ears open
for reference to and experience of Fabio Keiner’s works - now almost a 20 year time-span in ambient, minimalist and drone improvising noise-making, have a look and listen also at fabiokeiner.bandcamp.com and vimeo.com/fabiokeiner

CNDSD - Metápolis. Harmonia CCEMX from Malitzin Cortes_CNDSD on Vimeo.

Raum from HeK on Vimeo.
Every month, HeK shows a net-based project created especially for our digital series HeK Net Works. The series began during the lockdown period at a weekly pace, and now goes on with a monthly contribution. This month we would like to introduce you to Dirk Koy.
Dirk Koy is a Swiss artist and lecturer at HGK FHNW Basel for time-based media. Originally trained as a graphic designer, Koy works primarily with audio-visual media. In his award-winning works, he experiments with everyday images and environments, using both analogue and digital techniques. The artist creates surprising audio-visual works in which the viewer's perception is often challenged.
His Work Raum is a moving, 360°, digital and analogue drawing on view exclusively from 13.04.2021 – 11.05.2021 as part of Hek Net Works, created during the lockdown. During this time in which movement options were severely limited, nearby natural space, digital space, and one's imagination offered the opportunity to leave home to experience other places. In this work, a space is created that leads users to the intersection between reality and virtuality. Raum can be experienced online on HeK's Vimeo page as well as on our social media from 13.04.2021 – 11.05.2021. Sound and movement create an immersive experience in an environment that feels moving and organic, but in its form can only exist in digital space.
Statement by Dirk Koy: "Pencil drawing, photography, digital texture and movement merge into one big whole. Everything seems to be set in motion. The viewer becomes part of the action and decides which point of view he/she wants to take. The individual media layers begin to correspond with each other and allow the viewer to dive into an uncontrolled, porous world. Below and above dissolve, individual image layers break open, seemingly subterranean things come to the surface: unpredictable, erratic, with long pauses, then continuous again. The familiar becomes strange, the strange becomes familiar."
