okay so little ramble about this scene

i feel like people are interpreting it to mean that jax does not like ragatha and never did (which he currently doesn’t—that much is true). but instead, i think it reveals that he USED to feel differently. he used to like and even be close with ragatha, and now they are estranged

think about it—based on the emotion in his voice when talking about this, how he sounds personally affected by what he is saying, he probably once used ragatha for comfort, and they once were close friends (hence why ragatha even says that he doesn’t have friends “anymore,” and she wasn’t meaning to talk about ribbit). however, due to ragatha’s overly positive attitude, she didn’t let him express and/or didn’t accept his negative emotions about the sad reality of the circus, instead probably always just telling him to be positive, and that he’s cared for, and that being happy and kind will solve his distress. i mean, imagine being depressed and in a doomed reality and the person you seek support from tells you to be happy and just think differently—you’d be frustrated too. you wouldn’t go to them for support anymore

of course this isn’t me just trying to diss on ragatha she obviously has a traumatic past that explains why she uses so much positivity to cope but that could be a whole other post

This bit is genuinely so funny to me because they’re freaking out for most of this sequence, but here they’re just voguing.

pranking them by doing a game show and telling each one THEY’RE the host and the other three are the contestants

and stop starin at me with them big ol eyes...

Ok so

I personally didn’t see this scene as Ragatha realizing she’s alone

I actually think this is her making the choice to give up on getting closer with Pomni

See, It’s important that we got these moments in between Ragatha realizing Pomni and Jax have grown close enough to act like friends

Between her getting to know about someone she’s supposedly been stuck with for years and still being on good terms with someone she’s felt guilty for treating poorly

Ragatha is actually shown to be growing closer with the others

This is her feeling the warmth and validation she’s been seeking out

She doesn’t need more friends, she’s had some pretty good ones already, and in her obsession to be liked by yet another person has made her forget that a bit

Her brief moment of explosive anger with Pomni (very justified anger I might add) and then witnessing how Pomni was choosing to keep talking with Jax (the one who made her angry in the first place) made her feel betrayed

She’s watching Pomni bond with someone who likes to hurt others

She’s been wanting to get closer with a person who who wants to spend their time with someone who hurts her

So at the end, I think she’s realizing that this is not the kind of person she wants to get close with anymore

As someone who grew up loving ships i do have to admit:

I think there's something to be said about how audiences today tend to read every relationship as romantic — and honestly, I think that's heavily influenced by media companies.

Take The Amazing Digital Circus, for example. The fact that Pomni is slowly starting to resemble Jax, and that Ragatha seems alarmed by this, could mean Pomni has a crush on Jax and Ragatha is jealous because she likes Pomni. Sure, that’s one read.

But — and I think this makes more sense — maybe it’s deeper than that. Maybe Jax has had close friends before, and they all went down the same dark path Pomni is starting to follow. Maybe Ragatha is trying to stop it from happening again. And maybe, in doing so, she’s isolating herself... which puts her in danger too.

Not everything has to be about romance. Sometimes the emotional weight hits harder when it's not.

Let's give it up for this 30 year old autistic woman who really wants to get a good grade in being a person so she follows all the rules and chooses all the correct dialogue options and is constantly smiling and treating everybody with kindness and not causing any problems, never being mean to anybody, and doesn't understand how she can do everything right but still be so painfully isolated and unloved. Yayyy Ragatha yaayyyy!! Cheer and clap for her!!!!

She was so scared that Pomni was going to be mad at her after what happened :( she is probably used to expecting people being mad at her over things. She was probably repeating the previous event in her head and making it worse
