Broken Face Illustration and Stop Motion Workshop with Carolina Cruz (@lucilux.de) and Cristóbal Schmal (@nomonki) 03-04 May 2025 Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm Ministry of Animation Berlin @ministry_of_animation_moa Bergfriedstr 20 Kreuzberg Masks have played an important role in ancient and modern civilisations in funerary rituals, as well as in theatrical representation and religious syncretism. In this course we invite you to explore their most primitive forms both in their performative and symbolic role, analysing concepts such as duality, the occult and the representational. The course is divided into 2 parts, one more individual where we will draw, paint and cut to create our own pieces. In the second, more collective, we will work in groups to bring them to life by animating them using the Stop motion technique. Always from an experimental perspective, taking advantage of the expressive capacities of error, playfulness and the absurd. Language: English (Spanish and German are Welcome). Price: 120€. En este curso abordaremos el arte de contar historias explorando las posibilidades de la comunión palabra-imagen. A través de ejercicios prácticos con textos propios o ajenos nos centraremos en puntos importantes como la atmósfera, el ritmo, estructura y coherencia formal en busca de nuevas formas narrativas.

Durante 4 sesiones iremos paso a paso dando forma a un proyecto narrativo breve que pueda servir para un posterior desarrollo.

Geography of Color - Exploring the marks of nature from 10.06. - 16.06.2024 in Erlau (Odenwald)

very happy to announce this course that I will be giving in summer together with @studioschmal in collaboration with @kremerpigmente

In this course we are going to get closer to nature. We will be explorers entering a world of new species, trees, fauna. We will take notes of our discoveries: from the smallest creatures to the density of the forests, from the texture of the trunks to the green hills, collecting everything that catches our attention. We will also work on materiality and the origin of color with Kremer Pigmente who will guide us in the preparation of our own colors, which we will use to create unique and personal artwork. GEOGRAPHY OF COLOR 10 – 16.06.2024 in Erlau (Odenwald, Germany)

Very happy to present a new summer course together with artist Johanna Schmal (studio schmal) in collaboration with natural pigment expert David Kremer (Kremer Pigmente).

In this course we will learn how to prepare natural pigments for watercolour, oil, tempera and charcoal. In the first part we will immerse into the pigment kitchen, followed by 3,5 days of an artistic exploration of the material with nature as our muse. In this course we will work either a book cover, a poster or other graphic piece exploring traditional techniques such as pencil, ink, watercolor and gouache to create a unique and personal illustration. We will work step by step from the development of the idea, through visual associations, symbols to the final composition to make the most of the expressive capabilities of analog while taking advantage of digital editing.
