was talking to a coworker and realised i could not for the life of me remember his name but i was too embarrassed to ask because we've spoken multiple times so mid-conversation i started concocting a plan to nudge the conversation towards the ID photos on our building passes so that i could be like oh my ID photo is awful haha the camera they use to take these has a real talent for making me look as unphotogenic as possible and then he would say oh yes me too haha everyone says that (because they do) and then i would be able to say well let me see yours it can't be as bad as mine! and he would show me his ID because we are coworkers and why wouldn't he and this would allow me to see his building pass which of course would have his name on it and then i would be able to say well yours is perfectly nice it must be me that's the problem! and then we would have a polite chuckle about it and i would have his name without needing to ask for it and he would be none the wiser and all would be well but then before i could execute this fine plan a little voice in my head went "so this is some light yagami bull shit you are about to pull" which was such a violent reality check it shocked me completely out of my embarrassment and i went "hey im so sorry your name has slipped my mind could you remind me" and he did and it was fine.

I love Maddie because she's exactly the character she needs to be.

I talked about burn Notice with my dad and some of his friends recently. And they said they found Maddie annoying because she wouldn't "just listen to Michael" but fuck that idea. Gonna sit there and act like they'd just listen to their child boss them around. NO. No one would. Especially a kid you haven't talked to in over a decade. Coming back and telling you "lol you're gonna die if you don't listen to me. Also you don't get to ask why you're gonna die. Just listen to me"

she's flawed. She's stubborn. She cares about her kids. She cares about her dead husband. She survived her dead husband. And while her kids are fucked up. She's there for them when they need her. She's stayed in Miama for Michael.

She signed the letter for Michael. She gave him the car. She let's people stay at her house.

She's grown over time with the show and how comfortable and confident she feels with all the spy stuff. But you're telling me day 1 you expect that? Fuck off.

She helps Michael and the gang grow by being a stable person in their lives. That's what she's always offered stability.

I love Maddie. She is exactly the character she needs to be. And she acts exactly as what you'd expect a 70 year old woman dropped into this to act like.

anyway i also like Burn Notice because it doesn't have the usual problem of "why does this heterosexual couple love each other besides being the heterosexual leads" you understand why Michael and Fiona are right for each other but they still have obstacles in terms of having different priorities and bad communication

Also a skinny petite woman believably being "the brawn" in the relationship is gold
